Cabrera to the Angels, Ha Ha Ha!
Nov 26, 2007 | 10:58AM | report this

This is not a good trade for the Angels if you’re talking about them being a better candidate for the World Series. Lucky for the moronic Angels fans that’s what Moreno is counting on, and he definitely knows how to make money.

#1 Buy a team in the “wealthiest” region in America
#2 Change the name to include more of the region, when in reality he knows no real baseball fan will go to an Angels game instead of a Dodgers game
#3 Count on those wimpy Orange County dads with their fake wives and whiney kids to shell out countless dollars because Miguel and Vlad are on the same team
#4 Realize that you have no intention of winning, just providing the idea that you want to win as made apparent by your shrewd trade to bring in a “bopper”
#5 Trade away your no names that used to be the cornerstone of your organization so the new cornerstone of making more money is more attainable
#6 Re-hire the Rex dog after he got busted for pot because that’s what all the rich orange county wimpy dads can relate to

P.S. Howie Kendrick

P.S.S. This post is mostly a Moreno lambasting if you hadn't noticed

P.S.S.S. Or maybe an Orange County dad lambasting

Seems to me that Moreno is just following the formula in MLB set forth by the Yankees, Red Sox, a couple of Marlins owners, the D-Backs a few years ago, and so on. Throw big bucks at some key players and hold on tight. Let's face it, Moreno has had much more success in his short tenure owning the Angels than Gene Autry had in what, 40 years?

Rant if you must, but I see a baseball fan playing the money game that is MLB and actually winning!

I LOVE this rant!! I couldn't have said it any better myself! I've been telling #### Angel fan that Cabrera WON'T get them to the World Series, but that he will be worth THREE extra wins a year. Moreno KNOWS that the Dodgers are the ONLY REAL team in Los Angeles. He wants to glom onto the Dodgers' historical success. The Angels will NEVER win a World Series as long as Moreno owns the team. I saw this in the EARLY 80's--fake and wimpy Orange County dads bringing their whiney kids to Angels games when I went to a couple of Angels games in the 1983 season. Angels fans should just shut up and know their role: being second fiddle to the Dodgers in Southern California.

When the Angels won the World Series in 2002, they were owned by Disney. Jackie Autry had sold the team early that year to Disney. Moreno bought the team from Disney in 2005.

The year Artie Moreno bought the Angels, he lowered the price of beer at the stadium. That alone makes him okay in my book.

And I would rather go to an Angel game than a Dodger game any day of the week and it has nothing to do with wins and losses. Angels stadium is MUCH nicer and here's why: hotter chicks in the stands, less criminals in the stands, bigger seats, better hotdogs (Angels use Wienerschnitzel, Dodgers use Farmer Johns), better parking, better access to the freeway after games (huge benfit in LA), there's a Hooter's in the ballpark and another just outside the parking lot, 10 free wings at Hooter's if the Angels score 10 runs or more and you have a ticket, and finally the Rally ####!

dwindy and jon i'll get back with you

lb - I lived in California for 25 years and have been to more Angels games than Dodgers games. The only reason was I could get a seat a lot closer to Ichiro, Roger Clemens, and most notably Barry Bonds. I was in the front row of game six of the World Series a few years back. If you own the World Series DVD you get a few glimpses of me when they pan past Kevin Appier. That game secured my disdain for the Rally ####. I was in fact at an Angels game this past summer. All I know is that I don't like them! Appreciate you stopping by.

If they couldn't get to the World Series last year. What makes 'em think that they'll do it by landing Cabrera ? Their problems go way beyond what they consider them to be. As a regular season team they're great but come the postseason they're like deer caught in headlights facing a Mack truck head on. And the likelihood of landing Cabrera isn't going to change that one iota !
See my latest post titled Ocho Cinco Gets Thrown The Ball And What Does He Do ?
Let me know what you think as to the merits of the piece ?
