A common opponent is one of the few things NCAA football fans have to believe in these days. In an era of schedules made to create an undefeated season, how else can we argue that the PAC-10 is just as legitimate of a conference as the SEC? Today we'll only address the top four in each conference becuase they are the the only ones that matter. If I really wanted to embarass you SEC fans I'd throw up old Nick the Quick's schedule.
USC isn't dodging opponents as proven by scheduling Nebraska and Notre Dame...
Cal stepped to the plate scheduling Tennessee and vice versa, but also has Louisiana Tech...
UCLA challenges themselves with BYU (when was the last time an SEC team had the balls to put those 25 year old mormons on their schedule?) and Notre Dame as well...
Oregon has taken the most impressive steps by adding Michigan, you gotta love this one...
Now on the other side of the table, the cupcakers-
LSU gets an attaboy with The Hokies but Mid Tenn, and Tulane bring it down 10 notches, our hopes are rekindled with Louisiana Tech...
Florida impresses us with Western Kentucky, Troy, and Fighting FAU...
Georgia tries to fool us with OSU, but crashes back to earth with Western Carolina, Troy, and a must play game vs. GT...
Tennessee and Cheating Fulmer win my heart with scheduling the Golden Bears, but give me a break with Southern Miss, Arkansas State, and Louisiana Lafayette...
So I guess our only concrete argument left for us to wage the age old battle of PAC 10 vs. SEC will lay in the hands of Cal vs. UT and ulitimately Louisiana Tech. Let's just hope there's another Rattay still playing.
So in conclusion students if Cal beats Tennessee and Cal takes care of Louisiana Tech by more points than the Bayou Bengals can muster your watered down argument can be squashed until the SEC releases their schedules next season.
Um do what? USC has 0 games this year with anybody inside the Top 10. Nebraska @ #20, Cal @ # 12, UCLA @ # 14. The Notre Dame game is a joke anymore.
LSU: VT @ #9, Florida @ #6, Auburn @ # 18, Arkansas @ # 21, plus a possible extra game with a Top 10 team in the SEC title game (if they make it). And this is cupcake????Huh????
Cal? USC @ #1. UCLA #14, UTenn # 15. At least Cal has the nuts to play someone in the Top 10! But even there schedule is lack luster after the USC game.
UCLA? BYU?????? Come on now. They play USC and Cal. I don't even count ND anymore. Again UCLA at least nutted up with a Top 10 team.
And you call LSU cupcakes? I know schedules are made up years in advance, but come on. To say LSU & Florida have a cupcake schedule is laughable. Everyone schedules a powder puff team somewhere, hey I don't like it either, but that is the reality.
You cannot sit there and tell me after looking at the ranked teams these teams play, that LSU or Florida has a cupcake schedule. If anything it is vice versa.
I cant believe you honestly posted this. This is nuts.
P.S. This topic is a case of post my teams tough opponents while I blast the teams I hate, bad opponents. You argued opposite ends of the spectrum in 2 different areas.
LSUfan you missed the point brother. These are non conference schedules that have been compared. By the way, since you haven't figured it, teams don't "make" their conference schedule, but teams do choose their non conference opponents. And obviously, through comparison, the SEC teams are scheduling easier non conference schedules than PAC 10 teams. I honestly can't believe you're playing it like that.

Cal: Colorado State
UCLA: Utah
Oregon: Houston & Fresno State
Do none of these games bring down their schedules as you say the others do to LSU & Florida?
Are those suppose to be tough games? Again all you did was grab the tough games off of the schedules. Every single team in the nation schedules powder puffs. You have to look at the entire schedule to make a good determination of how tough the schedule is. Not just powder puffs.
La. Tech is gonna get destroyed this year. They are bad. I wouldn't use them as a gage on anything b/c both Cal & LSU will blow them out and put in 2nd and 3rd stringers by the 4th.
Interesting, sport. I think the fact that all but one SEC team scheduled a 2A team on their schedule is the bigger issue. Why schedule 2As when you are in 1A? It's embarassing.
LSU...you are in the SEC, so you have to play those conference games. If the conference is too tough for you to have a winning record, then why not schedule us inferior teams? The pac 10 or big 12? Seriously, if you are all that great and we are beneath you, then why not schedule us softies?
By the way, since 1961, 5 sec teams have gone undefeated in their conference, only 1 has in the pac 10. So much for the argument that it's easier to win in the Pac 10 than the SEC, huh guys? Think about it.

LSU - don't go comparing Colorado State, Utah, Fresno State or Houston to Florida Atlantic or Troy or Western Carolina, or Western Kentucky. That's funny! You're a comedian, too!
fyi..the sun belt is rated in last place for all conferences. The WAC is rated 7th, right after the big bcs 6 conferences. And the wacs champion beat the Sooners from the big 12 in a BCS Bowl. When did ANY sun belt team ever go bowling in a BCS game?
USC for the most part does schedule a tougher Out of conference schedule, but then they have to, in the last few years they need that because of all the cream-puffs within the PAC-10. But please do not have the audacity to list notre dame as a quality non-conference game! I also have noticed a trend by miss know it all to bash LSU, so much for intelligent homerism and not blind homerism! If notre dame is such a quality non-conference game , why did notre shame turn down both Auburn and LSU, when those colleges attempted to schedule notre shame? And don't get me started on out of conference schedules, all you so called intelligent homers, never even consider the why fors , of some colleges scheduling div 1-AA teams. You all see what you want to out of the scheduling, not the reasons why it has been done!

Cajun-This has been a topic of concern for football analysts' recently. In fact, it was one of the topics last night on ESPN College Football Live. For you to act like its not there and call me a homer, does not make it less true. There is absolutely no justification for these "power" teams to dodge quality opponents because they are afraid they will lose a non-conference game. Give me a break.
You're just mad because I proved the obviuos point that PAC 10 non conference schedules are stronger.
sport you are still missing the point...lol. USC needs a stronger out of conference schedule b/c the PAC-10 as a whole is weaker then the SEC as a whole.
LSU plays in-state schools recently b/c the state is trying to create rivalries inside the borders. Plus it brings in money to these other schools to have them play a top dog team. Hence the Tulanes, ULLs, ULMs, and the La. Techs.
Lisa LSU plays one of the top teams in the ACC in V. Tech this year. That is a non-conference game. USC plays Nebraska out of conference. So both of them only play 1 tough out of conference game this year. I don't see how LSU is any more a powder puff then USC in this regard. I never said USC was beneath LSU, you did. All I am saying is you can't call LSU's schedule powder puff, even the out of conference games, b/c their schedule is loaded with ranked teams that fall within the Top 20. 2 of which are in the Top 10. Compare that to USC and you can see for yourself that USC's schedule is not as tough as far as playing teams that are ranked (which is where you really get to determine how good your team really is).
