Is it too early to talk NFL Draft
Feb 07, 2006 | 6:51AM | report this

If you are an intelligent fan of any NFL team please share what you know about what your team will be drafting or trading over the next couple weeks and into the draft.  I know I am pumped that Norv Turner is the new O-coordinator of the 49ers.  I think if Smith will ever be a good quarterback then Turner will get him there.  Turner may stink as a head coach but him and Nolan have worked together before and they are a good fit.  My take is the 49ers will focus on defense this draft, probably a defensive back in the first round.  Linebacking is solid, and they have drafted defensive line in the last three drafts.  Maybe a defensive end, since Young is on the way out, possibly a linebacker since none of them were healthy this season.  I also would think they will hit up free agency for a reciever.  What do ya'll think???

49ers going defense? I don't know. I'd say they need offense to not make Smith look like a bust. How about D'Brickashaw Ferguson? Also, isn't Julian Peterson a free agent? I'd gladly take him in Cleveland!!!!!!
So, as far as the Browns are concerned, I'd say it comes down to 3 guys. Ferguson, Aj Hawk, or Haloti Ngata. If any of those are on the board at 12.
And as far as it being too early for draft talk? NEVER!

I am a Titans and Cowboys fan (as you can tell if you read my profile) so here are my takes on the draft. I honestly think the Titans will trade down and get extra picks. I definitely do not want Vince Young and unless Leinhart or Bush are there at three, I believe they will trade down a bit and take Jay Cutler. The Cowboys on the other hand will be looking to sure up there defense with another linebacker (Dat Nguyen is probably going to have to retire). I would love to see them get Demeco Ryans. I agree with you on the statement that the 49ers will go defense but Ferguson would make a lot of sense to protect Smith. Look for the 49ers to take AJ Hawk if he is available.

I'm cowboys fan as well why wouldn't I be I'm from Texas. They should probably go after Marcus Vick only if he's still around on the second day of the draft, They can also acquire Eric Winston because that line needs help.

Don't you think Nolan is a defensive mind? Look what Marvin Lewis did with Pollack and Thurman. I would believe Nolan would go that route. I agree Smith needs help, but their line is already improved, Gore is good enough, and the only reciever worth getting is on another team.

As for the Titans, Pacman Jones I guess wasn't the answer, at least for now. Volek of course will be a solid pro because he was a Bulldog, but don't they need a QB? Whoever takes Vince Young will look like a genius for years to come. That guy is a winner, he's got the thing that none of the other draft picks have. Didn't you see him in the Rose Bowl?

You want me to shred your blog? At least make it a little harder. All I have to do is point out one simple point. You're really showing your "intelligence" in talking about NFL teams next year by talking about the 49ERS. What intelligent person would actually put forth the effort to waste time and energy talking about a team that could have probably been beat by the Texas Longhorns this year.

I was talking about the 49ers because that is my favorite team and I am interested in finding out how they are going to return to putting some wins on the board. I also seriously doubt any college team could ever beat a pro team, ever. Share some of your expertise on the upcoming draft please JT.

Oh and P.S.....I must apologize, I admitt I ill-advisely used the word "shred". This does make me sound somewhat of a pompus ####. The error has been fixed.

And I stick by my last comment....please root for an actually football team, not the 49ers.

I'm still looking forward to you sharing some knowledge on your favorite football team and what they will do in the draft. I'd expect the Niners to come out with 8 or 9 wins next year. Maybe Alex Smith will be better than Eli Manning was in his second year.

Awww, don't let dude talk down about the 9ers. All teams suck at some point. They'll be okay in a couple of years.

My Ravens are thinking of tagging Jamal Lewis and trading him to Minnesota for Culpepper, or trading Chris McCalister for Culpepper. Local radio says Ray wants a trade. No one cares anymore. He won't get the $50 mil he's looking for from anyone in the NFL. If we trade J Lewis to Minn for Culpepper, the Ravens may pick up LenDale White with the #13 pick.
