Everytime you watch a basketball game at this point during the season we are plagued with All-Star talk. Who is going to start? Who will make it this year? Are there going to be any first-timers? You get the point right?
Needless to say the talk goes to those FORWARDS positions' in the West. How can you fit all the talent the West has to offer in the amount of spots allowed?
First off I truly believe, and disagree with me if you want, but I don't think Carmelo Anthony should even be on the ballot. When a man sucker punches another man during a game, is that what we consider to be All-Star caliber? Why would you give a man this honor after that type of behavior? Especially when there are other forwards that are just as deserving, if not more.
For example, Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Carlos Boozer, Shawn Marion, Josh Howard to name just a few. Is he that much better of a player than any of these people? HELL to the NO! Do they dish out sucker punches during their games and get suspended for 15 games? Once again, NO. So tell me who are the real All-Stars?
If you average 30 points per game you are going to be an all-star. Baseball has fights all the time involving big name all-star caliber players and nothing happens to them.
Granted it was a sucker punch but the 15 game suspension is a just punishment, you can't take away his first all-star appearance because of that.
it's voted by the fans, and are more of a popularity contest than choosing who the best players are, so he'll make it.
does he deserve the recognition after taking a sissy-#### slap/punch at someone? no. but he'll make it. that extra publicity only added to the number of times he'll be voted for.
Carmelo is an MVP candidate and worthy of the all star team. He's better than Josh Howard. Dude punches a guy, and now everyone forgets how good he had been playing up until that regretful moment. Ridiculous. I voted for him already.
The all star game is a joke......if it was truely the best players then melo would maybe make the bench. As for a.i, i would suggest not voting for a thug who wants to jump ship and chase a ring before time catches up with him. He made a big mistake.....nuggets suck and itt awesome to see them getting there #### kicked hahahahah.
I guess he can prolly make it as a bench player, but he won't make it as a starter until one of the three headed 7 footers decides to retire because there is no way you start Anthony ahead of Garnett, Duncan, nor Nowitzki.
Josh Howard is a good player, but not an All-Star -- nor was he All-Star worthy. Although I will concede that not drafting him was one of the worst mistakes by Pop and RC Buford.
There were several forwards on the list, including 'Melo, who are better players, or are having betters years. Now this is not set in stone as Howard can keep improving, but there is just no room for him on a crowed list.
As for Carmelo "hit and run" Anthony. I agree, it was a punk move. But then again, so was Jason Terry sucker punching Finley last year, but somehow that happened to be Finley's fault? His nuts just got in the way I suppose.
