I've got NBA League Pass at my home, so I was able to watch the Phoenix Suns play the Rockets. First off, the sound was aweful and each shoe screach and whistle blow sounded like ####. But the ANNOUNCERS!!! ... You know how you feel after the most annoying commercial just keeps coming on and you want to pull your hair out? That's how the Houston Rockets' TV announcers were making me feel. They cry for Yao every play, complaining about how he never gets the calls. But then at the end where the Suns were up 10 with 2 minutes left...one of them said that he really had a problem with the Suns keeping their starters out on the floor because 1) maybe one of our star players would get hurt during a pointless time of the game, and 2) because maybe we were running up the score. They all started to agree about how bad of a call it was.
Ten points is a 4 possession ball game! What are they talking about?? So Houston can keep its best players in to play their guts out and try to catch up, but the Suns have to take their starters out of the game because it "looks" like they might win? The one thing that I hate about NBA League Pass, even though I'm a huge NBA fan and love watching pro basketball, is that I always have to tolerate the bias of the home team's announcers. But Houston's were just aweful. Instead of talking about the officiating throughout the entire game and complaining about the opponents' decisions (as long if it's not intentional injury), they should just let the fans enjoy the thrill of the game and announce the play by play. Be a little bit more traditional.
I know what you mean, I watch a lot of baskeball on league pass and the home team announcers are ALWAYS crying about calls. I watch many games where I don't care who wins and am able to remain objective. Calls can be clearly correct and the announcers will bash the officials, or maybe the call will be wrong and go in their team's favor and they won't say a darn thing about it.
The most biased announcers I've seen are from Boston. There's a guy on their broadcast team that always thinks his team is getting the shaft. (Not so much this year since they are winning)
oh come on whats with this sudden obsession with bashing houstons announcers, first dime now this guy, come on you guys always have to find something wrong about houston, anyways there were alot of non calls and yao was getting murdered out there, so show some class and don't bash houstons announcers like that

Houston's announcers blow. I can't stand Ralph Lawler of the Clippers either. The other guy Mike Smith is OK considering he has put up with that blowhard Lawler.
Biased announcing is kind of the name of the game, but not all are that bad. I'm from Utah, so I watch of lot of Jazz games and am always impressed by the Jazz announcers. Of course they are biased, but they don't cry, they admit when a call that didn't go their way was right and try to be sportsman like. As for Houston, (and I like Houston) I'm not trying to bash them, but I prefer it when an announcer tries to keep his biases to themselves. It gets annoying and eventually they start sounding like morons.
team announcers are always going to be biased and are always going to complain about officiating. however, a lot of the complaints in regard to yao are justified. this guy takes a beating every single game and definitely does not get the star treatment as some of the other all-star players do. the biggest change that i would like to see, in regards to the team announcers, is the return of calvin murphy. his suits alone are worth tuning in for.
