Okay Folks...now it's your turn ...to decide who you felt wrote the best entry in the;
'Why I am a Fan of MY TEAM.....CONTEST!
I'm starting it off a bit early, so you get 2 extra hours of voting!
These guys did an incredible job and you VOTERS are going to have a hard time deciding who to give you vote to.
The rules are very simple for voting. Only (1) vote per blogger. You can 't split your vote. Otherwise it does not count and will be thrown out. You must vote between NOW and 12:00 midnight on Sunday Sept. 9th.
Also before I forget to mention this the ENTRANTS also can vote (1) time. They can vote for themselves or anyone else.
The Mystery judges who I will identify on Sunday, votes count towards 20% of the entire vote. The judges are judging separately so there is a possibility of that 20% being split 3 ways.
The entries are:
Morisao's....Rangers
Forensic2's....Indians
broblog's....Yankees
Marty Walker's....Reds
saxman57's....Mariners
Nooch's....Giants
golfbloggers....Rockies
bosox61's....Devil Rays
hoit's....Tigers
JoshQPublic's...Red Sox
ian2813's.... White Soxs
jon464's....Dodgers
ksp113's....Orioles
cuziffer's....Brewers
and Finally
tophatal's....Marlin's
Those are you 15 choices.
You can state your vote by saying the team name or blogger name.
We'll tally them up on Monday and announce the winner on Wednesday. In case of a tie, the person who posts the 51st comment on THIS site will have the deciding vote and must state their deciding vote at that time. If they have already voted then THAT vote counts twice! Otherwise it goes to the next comment down the line. If it doesn't get that far then I will ask my daughter to pick a name out of a hat on Frank Izzarry's show and pick a winner that way!
If I get 100 votes I'll open up the NFL contest on the 17th, for team selections.
Only we're going to change the format a little, and make it a 300-500 word entry. There's 32 teams that's alot of reading!
Even though I'm allowed to vote for myself, I'm going to be fair and vote for someone else. There were a few really good ones I had it narrowed down to, but after reviewing them I've decided that my vote will go to...
Nooch's Giants
It was a really close call and I can only hope that the ones I couldn't vote for get some support.

I thought every single one of them was excellent, simply incredible, space doesn't permit recounting all the high notes of each but I have to give Top & the Fish the nod, Nooch ran a photo-finish second, while the rest were so good, I wish I didn't have to vote on just one winner, because they're all winners, thanks for taking your time to scribble in this contest, I think each and every one of you far exceeded the wildest expectation, for quality, delivery and style. You proved baseball is still as American as Mom & Apple Pie.

Now some had it easy and others hard to sale their team due to the teams history to date of bad season after season. With that said here are my eye openers.
5.Nooch - Classy work, not hard to sale Giants
4.Jon464- Great read, not hard to sale Dodgers
3.Tophatal- Great job on key players, new era team.
Not bad list for 3 out of my top 5.
2.Ian2813 - Great job, hard to sale White Sox.
#1. Morisao's- Great job, Hardest to sale Rangers to my Indians. My vote Morisao's
Great job to all and I think we had no mud slinking during this contest.

If I don't vote now, I'll change my mind again. So using Soc's instructions as a guideline, I will make my pick.
"Give us something besides W/L records or championship banners. Show us YOUR TEAM SPIRIT" - Socratesofswat
There were many, many beautiful pieces submitted including my own. But alas, feigned humility keeps me from voting for myself. I thought Saxman's Mariners, ksp113's Orioles and Foresic's Indians all totally captured the spirit of Socs statement. From my point of view, however, one stood out from the rest.
Looks like we're off to a good start! I'm delighted to see people voting for each other. Just goes to show that there are alot of classy bloggers here.
ian, thanks for the offer. I'm going to leave this one like it is. BUT I will ask your help when the NFL one starts. I just don't want to tinker with the set-up. I'm afraid I'll mess it up somehow. Again Thanks You.
College football. That must explain it. As one person here who isn't a college football fan I'd rather be watching the voting in this contest. Tomorrow the NFL will probably be distracting them. Maybe you should leave the voting open an extra day.
Ian it's a thought but alot of folks come blogging after the games. We'll see how it goes and hopefully people will start voting. I know the guys in the contest will look and most likely vote. So that'll keep it out there.
You have to type in the HTML for a link in the comment box. At least, that's the only way I know how to do it. The HTML template for a linked section looks like this:
<a href="[insert linked URL here]">[insert linked text here]</a>

You don't have to use the HTML if you're writing an actual post. They have buttons that can help you with the links in blog posts. You only have to use the HTML if you're writing in the comment box.
Also, another thing to note is that the parts that say [insert here] should have the brackets taken out when you're using them.
ian, don't sweat it. If it doesn't happen then it wasn't meant to be.
If I don't get a decent response I just won't do the NFL contest. Alot of hard work by the entrants have been put into this.
They need to start voting or this isn't going to work.
Soc, It worked, whether they vote or not. This "contest" caused me to take a look what it is that makes me a fan of the Devil Rays, even if it is my second choice.
Not only did I read all of the Blogs submitted, I read other blogs that each of these individual had written. The writing was different in these posts in almost all the cases. This time people were writing from their hearts. In a lot of cases they were baring themselves. How can you promote this years Orioles or White Sox or Rangers when in your gut you are so disappointed with the results. Writing in this contest for most, or at least a lot of us involved some character building.
And you! The work you put into the planning and the carrying out of the project was inspiring. Dealing with the trash talkers and selfless promoting that you did made me realize exactly how lazy, in mind and spirit, that I really am. Whether another person votes or not, I am rewarded in having had the opportunity to watch you develop an idea and follow it all the way through. I won't forget you effort.
bosox I appreciate your kind words. It's easy to promote a team that is winning or has a winning legacy. I wish more teams like the Mets and Cardinals and A's and Braves came through. They were successful middle of the road teams. I noticed the entries were mostly from extremely successful franchises or the hard luck ones.
5 Teams that never won a W.S..... Rangers, Mariners, Devil Rays, Rockies and Brewers made up a third of the entries. That was inspiring.
It was worth doing the contest, if only to see people's creative juices flow. They put alot of themselves into these entries.
I think if I do the NFL contest then I need to shorten the reads. Make it 300-500 words or something. We'll see. We still have more than a day left.
I'm not abig enough fan of NFL football to participate in that one. If the Patriots aren't playing it really doesn't matter to me. But if I did, I don't know how I could do it in 300 - 500 words. My Rays blog was about 2100 words and I had to pare that down.
I liked tophatal's and broblog's posts. They gave excellent reasons why one should be fans of their teams. And of course tophatal always brings the hotties in it ;)
Great posts everyone! I enjoyed the contest! May the best man win.
Thanks for the oppirtunity to be in this. I just love the Reds as the history makes it special. Remember all those black and white movies of baseball and the er's it portrayed. Thats what makes baseball special. It's too bad they never made any of the Reds, although one for the Big Red Machine would be a great one.
ksp113's blog was great. Thats my vote. I can't vote for myself. It ain't right. But broblogs was tops as well as Josh Q's.
I have to give broblog credit for that one. He pointed out that sometimes the smallest thing can change to course of events.
