Hey this is your last chance to read entries from all the participants in the:
"Why I am a Fan of my Team contest'.
First of all I would like to thank everyone for their support. These guys did an excellent job in portraying their teams and without their creativity this contest never would have taken off the way it did.
We had 15 entries and to find them go on the MLB blog page and scroll down until you find them.

That's it! If you missed any there's all 15.
Remember I will put up a voters site tonight at approximately 12:01 am and run through Sept 9th.
Only one vote per blogger, so make it count!
So are you curious who the three mystery judges are? I wonder if you can guess them!
It's pretty simple, Soc. Just highlight the text you want to make into a link and select the button that has a picture of the earth with a few chain links in front of it. Then when the box pops up just insert the URL of the page you're linking to in the "URL" line. I could put up a post with the links if you want, and you could just copy and paste it over here.
ian I guess if I put a link next to each entries name it would help. OK you talked me into it. I'll get my wife to help me. She's smarter that me. HA HA
No, I am not a judge. I just love baseball and what socrates has done here. I also appreciate what the contest members have posted. I have learned an enormous amount about baseball from this contest. I don't feel qualified to judge and I'm not going to vote. Best of luck to everyone. I know that the judges will do their best and it will be hard for them. Soc, this was wonderful and thank you.
Volfan you're welcome and thank you for your kind words and support.
Actually Volfan you would have been the perfect judge for this contest. 2 of the 3 judges don't follow baseball.
The premise of the contest was for the entrants to try to persuade you to become a fan of their team by capturing their team spirit through history, players, little known facts, quirks, charities, and stuff like that. So the less you know the more qualified you were.
The third judge I selected is a big time baseball fan. But the team they follow isn't represented in the contest. That's what make it fun.
I was just reading you bio again. I've read it before but tonight the Boise Idaho thing caught my attention. About 60 or 70 years ago I had to write a thesis. My subject was how genecide contributed to the shaping of the the United States. It was based on the injustices that were done to Native Americans (back then they were called American Indians) under the guise of progress. I was very idealistic at the time and jumped into the project with Vigor.
One of my topics was Chief Joseph and the plight of the Nez Perz Indians. During my research I reviewed many photos and films of the Wallowa Mountains and Valley of Oregon, The Seven Devils Mountains and the Snake River of Idaho. The area was breathtaking on film and photo. It must be incredible in person. I wish I wasn't afraid of the Mountains (the spirits, you know) so I could see that area. Besides, I break out in hives when I'm away from the ocean too long. I can imagine it's a fabulous place to raise a family.
bosox Idaho is awesome. Incredible views and wildlife like you wouldn't believe. The Snake River Canyon is a sight to behold! Over by Twin Falls the Snake River has receded to the point where huge gorges have been cut out. They must be at least 400-500 ft high in places.
The Sawtooth Mountains in Central Idaho are spectacular with deep mountain lakes. Great fishing and if you like wildlife photography this is a good place to do it.
Bald Eagles, Wolves, Elk, Deer, Bear, Sturgeon. Salmon. And the nice part about it is it's not crowded.
Socrates, tell the truth. Are people voting for themselves. I just can't do it. Seems Tressel like ha ha. I really had fun and I appreciate helping me out figuring the category thing. Since then it's worked. I hope people vote for the Reds, not me. The History is awesome. Of course Big Market teams always get the most notoriety with all the media, even since 1900.
Residing in Boise, Idaho with my wonderful wife and two of the greatest kids a Dad could hope for. No I'm not a potato farmer! New Englander at heart, raised in the Northern Connecticut Valley where I learned to love the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, and UConn Huskies. I get my passion and fire from my mother's side. She was 1/2 Sioux and Irish. My Dad's side were the sport nuts. My favorite big leaguers: My Great, Great, Uncle, Larry (Nap) Lajoie, Ted Williams, and Nomar Garciaparra. Yankees S**K. Moved to Calif. in my early 20's, Lived there for 25 years. Got the hell out before it slips into the Pacific. Which I hope it does! I learned that hard work and determination gets you places. I'm the the bitters in your coffee and the thorn in your side.
Sauerkraut is just cabbage gone bad and I wouldn't feed beets to my worst enemy. Unless you're a Yankee, Raider or Laker.
