Hey fellow bloggers welcome. Some of you out there have already read about the "Why YOU are a FAN of your team...CONTEST'. Some may have not.
Starting on Sept 2nd thru Sept 6th bloggers on this site will be submitting entries on why they are fans of their MLB teams. This isn't a popularity contest. There's much more to it.
It's a contest based on the premise that they are trying to convince you to be a FAN of their team. It is also based on the premise that YOU have no loyatlies to any particular team.
A couple years ago a gentleman who wasn't a fan of any team put up for grabs his loyalties. He took out an advertisement and LO and Behold ALMOST every team responded with offers of free tickets, sports memorabilia, autographs, posters... you name it he got offered it.
Now unfortunately we can't do that here, but what we can do is this. Make them sway us by giving us knowledge about what it is to be a fan. A REAL fan. Show us the teams History, players, little known facts, and funny Quirks. Show us team chemistry and how the team is invovled in the community through charities and time contributions and such.
Give us something besides W/L records or championship banners. Show us YOUR TEAM SPIRIT.
MAKE US WANT TO BE A FAN OF YOUR TEAM!
I think it would be awesome for us to learn about each other without fear of reprisal.
Now the list of 19 bloggers to take part is really quite impressive. We have Marty Walker. Nooch. Josh Q Public. Morisato. hoit. oaklandathleticsfan. golfblogger. Tophatal. r morley. jon 464. mafioso. Ian2813. Forensic2. cuziffer. Forgotton Fan. ksp113. saxman57. bosox61. And who can forget broblog.
Quality bloggers who will do their best to represent their team. and put their hearts into it.
Now:
They will blog their entries on their OWN SITES.
They will headline their entries so you the voter/judge will be able to pick them out quickly.
They will be titled as such....
Why I am a Fan of my team...(THE NAME OF THE TEAM)! (CONTEST ENTRY)
No votes will be counted on their sites to ensure all entries have had the chance to be read. But you are encouraged to comment . Also only ONE vote per blogger/judge. This is to insure vote padding isn't done. Five entries may be worthy of your vote but you can only vote for one.
Voting will not take place until Sept. 8&9. I will put up a VOTING post on Sept. 8th at approximately 12:01 am and run it thru Sept 9th til midnight. This is to insure that all entries have been read.
To put a little spin on things I also have three MYSTERY judges. These judges are unbiased and two of the judges don't follow baseball. The other judge is a diehard fan of BASEBALL and a team that is NOT represented in the contest. I will reveal the judges after all entries have been submitted. These three judges represent 20% of the total vote. So the more votes there are the less influential they are. it also takes away the vote padding.
I really hope you as bloggers enjoy the effort these guys put into their entries.

P.S. On Sept 17th. I will be reserving team entries for a NFL Fan contest. To be fair it is first come first takers.
PF, I know it's hard. I'm only trying to see things through the eyes of fans everywhere and to apprieciate our differences. There are some COOL Yankee fans like Rivjo, Bloblog and 1swteelerfan1, and many others. The whole batch isn't bad. IF we could just get rid of the potty mouths we might actually like even more.
Mean, I'm hoping for a good turnout. I would be fun to see the differences of opinions and how fans prepare for their teams. I want everyone to want to be a fan of EVERY team. Which would make them baseball fans first and their teams second.
As for Sen. Craig...I think he needs to stay out of public restrooms and keep his private life private. What he does in the privacy of his own home is no concern of mine. But when he ventures out into the public forum he gets what he asks for.

No bro, not on this site. On your own site. Just write a post like you normally do. Just put it under MLB and other. That way everyone will find the entry easily!

Hey everyone, You'll find Marty Walker's ....Why I am a Fan of...The Cincinnati Reds entry in the blog column on the right hand side. For some reason his entry wouldn't post under MLB, or OTHER categories.
Soc - All of the catagories he posted are on the same line. If he edits the post, deletes all the catagories, enters the catagorie MLB alone and reposts it should come up. That is what finally got my post up yesterday.
Marty erase all YOUR CATEGORIES and place only MLB in. I've already e-mailed him earlier but no response. He was probably so tired at 3am he didn't realize it.

Volfan it's going to be very tough. Thank you for your interest! Did you read broblog's Yankee fan post or bosox61's take on the D-Rays or cuziffer's on the Brewers? All excellent writes and posted on the MLB section. I'm also awaiting Tophatal's entry on the Marlins AND forgotton Fan's look at the Astros!
Wow, all of the posts I've read so far have been top notch! Man, this is going to be a tough competition. I just hope my post on the Giants tomorrow is up to par!
but!!! not to be hypacrictcal i do like the yanks also why>??? becasue how?? many times has the yanks changed the logo?? none always been the NY on the hat and on the home shirt!! pinstrips home unis, gray away uniforms... look at lots of other teams changes in them.. why i dont know ohh yea marketing i suspect... but as i say alot of times uniforms dont win games talent does... hey im a university of oregon sports freak but i just wish in football we would stick to a certain jersey.. omy if you saw the bowl game last year oregon vs BYU whats up with these ugley yellow helmets they wore??? hey im not superstiuose at all hey i when i played slow pitch softball i used to love walking off the field and stepping on the chalk lines... thats a NONO to many a ball player!!!!

Nooch when people are passionate about something they put out their best. And as we can all agree SHINE! There are some incredible efforts here!

Scroll under the MLB category. Some are on the second and soon to be third pages. Don't forget them! Put up a comment and hopefully they'll get more exposure on most recent comments.

Thanks... well I thank the people who commented, as they were the ones that kept it going for me. I hope a good amount of people were able to see and read it.
As for voting... I'm out of town this weekend... most likely. Does it go through the 9th entirely? I'm guessing we get to vote on people we like, or at least general populous does and (and maybe us too), plus the hidden judges? just curious...
socrates, this has been one of the best ideas since I've been on this site. I started in Feb., of this year. I have gained so much history and knowledge of baseball that it is overwhelming. I appreciate you and all of the people that have entered. This is much better than the Miller NASCAR contest. I know that I am 3 seconds behind the rest of the world. I can't find entries from Josh Q., Tophotal, Forgotten Fan, rmorley, maifaso, saxman, Morisato, and Oaklandathleticfan. Can you help me find their posts? Thanks. Again, this has been as much a history lesson to me as it has been informational.
