Hi Everyone. Just posting to remind everyone when they are scheduled to post their blogs.
19 contestants have signed up. I'm breaking them up into divisions to make it easier for people to read the blogs and vote.
The only change is I'm moving Tophatal in with the N.L. Central teams since he is the only representative in the N.L.East.

There you have it, the dates to post your entries. It is very important to remember to mark your ENTRIES as follows:
"Why I am a Fan of my team .....(NAME OF TEAM)"! CONTEST ENTRY!
This will help the judges and fellow readers find your blogs and read them.
Also you are writing the entry on your own site. You can collect comments and such but NO VOTES on YOUR SITE will count. Those Votes that count will be placed on this site on another blog on Sept. 8&9.
This is to be fair to other contestants to ensure all entries have already been submitted and reviewed by judges and voters alike. Also all involved can see voting results without jumping around to 19 posts. Also please respond to this post so I know you got the reminder and if you have any questions.
VOTERS; I would like you to please be impartial in this contest. This isn't a contest of whose is your favorite team. It is set up as YOU being a fan of no particular team and judging who has the best argument for you becoming a fan of their team. They will use team histories, players, quirks, little known facts about charities, anything to entice you to become a fan of that team.
It is set up on this premise. A couple years ago a gentleman with no team favorite put his loyalties up for bids. Almost all the teams responded with offers of sports memorabilia, tickets, and other perks. We're using information instead.
PF, I have a feeling these guys are going to bring their 'A' game. Morisato can definitely bring it on. And with cuziffer, JoshQ, broblog, Tophat, Saxman57, Nooch, ksp113, too many awesome bloggers, hoit, jon464, golfblogger, Marty Walker, bosox61, ForgottenFan, Forensic2, Ian2813 and a couple of talented new guys it should be awfully interesting.

Hey soc, Got the reminder and will be there on the 2nd. I don't understand the contest rules or the judging, but that doesn't matter. My team doesn't have much of a history so I have very little drama to draw from. I'm doing this so the Rays get represented with something other than shitballs thrown at them.
Now don't get the impression I'm fishing for the sympathy vote here.
bosox61, you're trying to persuade bloggers to become a fan of the D-Rays. They'll vote for the entry that gives the best argument for becoming a fan of that blogger's chosen team. Every blogger can only vote once. Judges votes count as 20% of the entire vote. There are 3 judges. Each judge can chose a separate entry as the winner.
An example; Say there are 60 votes total. 3 of them are yours including one of the judges. That would give you 2 votes plus one third of 20% which would be 7%. 7% of 60 votes is 4.
4+2=6. That is what your vote total would be.

Hey yanksgman, how are you doing. You must be very happy that the yanks beat my SAWX tonight. That's o.k. no worries all we need is one game in the series, and it will pretty much sew things up. But you're in the wildcard hunt.
That title you suggest, "My Entry for....'Why I am a Fan of my team .....(NAME OF TEAM)! CONTEST" is kind of long and awkward. Can it be shortened at all?
I've just about finished writing my entry. I'll be ready to post on the 5th. Should be fun!
I agree with Ian. Can we shorten the name of the entries? Perhaps, something like "Socratesofswat's MLB Contest:" and then bloggers can create a short title with the team name after that.
So, an entry for, say, the Cardinals would look like this:
Socratesofswat's MLB Contest: Cardinal Wins
Anyway, just a thought. Thanks again for organizing this contest. I'm looking forward to reading everyone's posts.
bosox61, the D-Rays have alot more going for them than you think. I know they have a short history but they have an exciting ballclub and their farm system is loaded. You might consider focusing their best assets on other things besides W/L records. Look at the other avenues. I'll make the same suggestions to all other teams out there. Remember some people like the UNDERDOGS. Also 20-25% of all MLB fans ARE WOMEN! So those other tangibles may sway some voters. Expand beyond the records and dig deep into the teams personality, you might be surprised and actually love your team more!
bro, nooch, sax, ian, bosox, golf, thanks for responding. It makes it alot easier to know I won't have to e-mail you later to remind to blog.
Again thanks a bunch.
Residing in Boise, Idaho with my wonderful wife and two of the greatest kids a Dad could hope for. No I'm not a potato farmer! New Englander at heart, raised in the Northern Connecticut Valley where I learned to love the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, and UConn Huskies. I get my passion and fire from my mother's side. She was 1/2 Sioux and Irish. My Dad's side were the sport nuts. My favorite big leaguers: My Great, Great, Uncle, Larry (Nap) Lajoie, Ted Williams, and Nomar Garciaparra. Yankees S**K. Moved to Calif. in my early 20's, Lived there for 25 years. Got the hell out before it slips into the Pacific. Which I hope it does! I learned that hard work and determination gets you places.
