With the suspension of Wade Wilson for taking HGH, I got to wondering who was next on Roger Goodell'#### list: Just a few of my suggestions to the new commish.
Mike Ditka: You heard me right. Superbowl winning coach Mike Ditka should be banned for life for taking and becoming the pitchman for Levitra the rival of Viagra. Certainly Mike of the Bears fame was taking this little PE to help him perform. No wonder he was called "Big Iron Mike." He can Kick and Scream all he wants, but maybe he should be stripped of his 1985 Super Bowl ring.
Andy Reid: If Wilson can get 5 games for taking HGH, which won't help him coach any better, then how many games will Reid get for two sons, count em again, two sons who are drug addicts and can't stay out of the news. After all, Goodell wants to clean up the image of the NFL, so we can't have coaches with sons embarrassing the league. Heroin, DUI, Oxycodon, and a list that includes Road Rage for Reid's sons. Sounds like 8 games to me, or until Coach Reid spends some quality time with his sons.
Bill Belichick: Is there another coach who looks as disheveled as Bill? Wearing those baggy sweatshirts should levie a 3 game suspension at a minimum. After all, doesn't Goodell want to improve the image of the NFL? Take a page from David Stern and make em wear ties on the sideline. If it was good enough for Tom Landry, it can be good enough for Bill.
All kidding aside, what Wilson did had no bearing on the outcome of any football games. He did not "enhance" his coaching nor has he been accused of giving HGH to players. For those who insist it was illegal to have the HGH, I disagree, but that is beside the point. Speeding down the highway is illegal too, but should every player be suspended for that? Of course not. The feds aren't prosecuting Wilson and neither should Goodell..
Yesterday the QB Coach for the Cowboys, Wade Wilson, was suspended for 5 games for taking HGH as a coach. Wait, he took a performance enhancer as a coach and now he is suspended! You've got to be kidding me! This is the straw that will break the camel's back. It's not like Wilson is the "head" coach either. He is the QB coach. If Goodell punishes the little guys, how much more will he punish Norv Turner for losing with all those Pro Bowlers on the Chargers team?
Ok, I get picking on Barry Bonds,;he deserves it. I understand picking on Giambi, Chris Benoit, and any other athlete who takes steroids while they are playing the game, but suspending a coach for taking HGH is like suspending Charlie Weiss for gastric bypass surgery. Better yet, anyone taking medical marijuana should be suspended as well.
Wilson is a diabetic. He was trying to improve the quality of his life. He was not trying to improve his performance as a coach. I understand taking steroids as a PE is the wrong message for young people, but taking HGH to help him as a diabetic is not appalling to me at all.
While the commissioner is well within his rights to suspend Wilson, I think this is one of those cases where he could have shown a little mercy. No one expected him to bench a coach for 5 games. This leads me to wonder if the commissioner is now going to bench Andy Reid for his son's transgressions. Will Goodell punish coaches for DUI's? How far will he go?
What happened to Romomania? Funny how losing makes people start second guessing the coach. Romo has played well, but unfortunately the reason the Cowboys were losing had very little to do with Drew Bledsoe and more to do with a poor defense. Sure Bledsoe made some bad throws from time to time, but the Cowboys offensive line and running game were not producing at the time either. Now that Barber is running well, Bledsoe would have more time in the pocket. The trouble is that no matter who is the QB, the Cowboys are still in trouble.
Vince Young, Matt Leinart, and Jay Cutler may be the three best QB’s to come through a draft in a long time. All three have already established themselves as the number one QB on their teams. Is it just me or does Jay Cutler look like he may be the best of the three? He looked very poised against the Bengals on Sunday, but then again, he was playing against that “vaunted” Bengals’ defense. Forget about Wonderlick tests because Vince Young is showing why he won at Texas. He is a winner. Some QB’s have all the tools but for some reason or another they can not get their teams over the hump. Joe Montana did not have the prettiest spiral or all the physical tools of a Jeff George, but he was a winner.
Jim Mora Jr.: If you have to come out defending your record you have already been fired. My guess is that Mora is trying to establish his resume in the press so that someone will want to hire him. Which team that will be is hard for me to tell, but maybe Mora would be desperate enough to actually accept the Raiders job should it be offered. No one else wants to work for Al Davis, but I don’t see any other franchise offering Mora a job right away.
Rant number one: TO needs to touch the football and he is right when he argues that Dallas would be better off if he gets his touches early. Why would you pay a guy millions and just use him as a decoy.
Throw him the ball, throw it to him deep.
Throw him the ball, throw it to him Bledsoe,
Even in your sleep.
Please TO, just keep playing football and stop writing children's books.
And I am not talking about John Travolta playing J.R. Ewing. I am talking about the signing of T.O. to a new contract. I for one think it was not only a bold move but a very good move for a team that needs some star power. Drew Bledsoe can still deliver the ball but Keyshawn Johnson is not a deep threat like Owens is nor is he a 1100 yard receiver. Owens is a consistent 1000 yard receiver for both of his last two teams.
Another reason I like this move is because Jerry Jones is the one bringing T.O. to Dallas. Jerry is not like other owners. Saying he is involved is like saying Mark Cuban is involved. Both the Mavericks and the Cowboys have owners who are willing to meet with players and go out on a limb for them. Superstar players respond well to owners like this.
Also, T.O. has many reasons to have a break out year. I look for him to return with a vengeance. I think he will have double digit touchdowns this season and lead Dallas to the play offs. Who knows if they can win the Super Bowl as that means their defense will have to improve as well, but they are alread playing solid behind Williams.
Lastly, I think that Bill Parcells will handle T.O. like he has Terry Glenn and Keyshawn. Both of these receivers were coming out of horrible situations. Keyshawn from Tampa Bay under similar circumstances of Owens and Glenn from the Packers via the Patriots. Both have turned into model players for Dallas. Glenn had over 1100 yards last year and now Dallas will have a double threat at wide receiver.
If T.O. does not do well in Dallas, his career may be over. He has every reason to play well and no reasons not to perform. I believe as is the case of many superstar athletes, his ego is the size of the state of Texas; in other words, very large! He can not come out and not perform well. His personality will not allow him to play poorly. The only question is how will he respond as a team mate and how will the players receive him. In the end, if he catches 10 plus TD's, they will all be happy.
