Having just driven back from LAX, I need to destress a bit so I think I will rant about a few of my favorite losers.
Norv Turner: Earlier this year I predicted the Chargers would be lucky to go 10-6. People reminded me that the Chargers were returning all the key pieces in last year's 14-2 squad. It was at that point that I reminded them the Chargers also replaced a great coach with Norv Turner. Whatever the reason, Norv is not a winner. Never has been; never will be. LT is off to a slow start and Rivers appears to be in a true "sophomore" slump. My prediction of 10 wins may have been a bit too optimistic.
Isiah Thomas: How does this guy still have a job? Not only has he made some horrendous deals for the Knicks, he is involved in a lawsuit for sexual harassment. Any other coach would have been long gone, but what does Dolan do? He gives Isiah a raise and a contract extension. It is the most bizarre employee/employer relationship I have ever seen.
MLS: When the biggest news in soccer in the US is that Beckham isn't playing then how sad is the state of affairs for MLS? The fact is that women's soccer in the US is more popular than MLS. That in and of itself should tell you where MLS falls in the pecking order. In the food chain of major sports in the U.S., MLS falls somewhere between the WNBA and PBA. Come to think of it, PBA is bigger.
Hey Socal-Norv Turner. Agreed. So Marty couldn't win the big one, they felt. Norv can't spell big one. Doubt he'll ever sniff one as a head coach. Hope you enjoyed that 14-2 season, front office. And why Norv, may I ask? Denny Green's asking price was too high? Couldn't lure Wayne Fontes out of retirement?
Isaih Thomas-I'm with you. Amazing. I can't describe it any other way. Damn shame, though, that one of the greatest point guards of all time will now be remembered for something else. I'll bet even he wishes he had been fired three years ago.
Norv Turner--great offensive coordinator, not a great leader of a team. The Chargers will be fortunate to go 9-7.
Isiah Thomas--I agree with you there. How in the HELL does he have a job after this?? No wonder the Knicks are in a sorry state of affairs (no pun intended).
MLS--I never watch soccer, so I have no comment on it. As for Beckham: the whole Beckham thing was a yawner. One of the all time great disappointments.

The media doesn't seem to know what to do with the Isiah Thomas story. It sure messes with the popular image of him. But when you just look at the things he and Marbury have admitted to on the stand it's obvious the Knicks don't spend enough time focused on the game.
Ricko my 10-6 prediction is looking generous and 9-7 is a real possibility. Amazing how much difference a head coach makes. Look at Tom Coughlin.
Dudski, the team under Isiah is just a good ole boys club. Run and gun and have fun. You can win 40 games in the east easily with any squad, but why Dolan can't see that is beyond me.
Jon, I'm not even sure he was a great offensive coordinator. I think he just got lucky. He has Gates, LT, Rivers, and some WR this year and they can't score. Where is his offensive genius now.
Norv Turner: Aren't the Chargers 1-1? I don't think it's time to panic yet, they lost to a VERY good New England Patriots team and maybe Phillips struggled but it's hard not to against the Bears and Pats. I'd say give it a couple weeks to just see what's going on.
Isiah Thomas: Yeah, Thomas is an ####. He should've been fired long ago but he's allowed to get away with anything. Seriously, if Larry Brown said a black man couldn't call a white woman a #### because he's black he would've been fired long before he was.
MLS: I've actually had this conversation with my girl friend a couple of times. She's really doesn't like sports (at all) but even she points out that she never hears anything about men's soccer but plenty about women's.
Men's soccer in this country just isn't competitve. They've never had anywhere near the success the women have had. Maybe they should integrate the league and the women will raise the game of the men?
Hiring Norv Turner to coach your football team is like asking a car dealer to put a flat tire on your new automobile....stupid. I can only assume that Isiah Thomas ran/runs the Knicks like J. Edgar Hoover did the FBI. So Mr. Dolan, what are you hiding? And let's give the MLS a break. Unlike UCLA football, at least they're trying.!
Why did the Chargers fire Marty again? I honestly cant believe that did that. I bet they regret it now. At this rate they wont make the playoffs. I wonder if they will fire Turner if that happens? Could you imagine firing a head coach that takes your team to the playoffs, yet not firing the coach who cant get you there? In my world that is considered backwards.
MLS- isnt that some horrible disease their is still no cure for?
Zeke- as a coach, he's decent, as the power to control trades and FA signings, along with having to work with females in the office...he stinks.
Turner- i actually heard mel kiper this morning on espn radio whining about how marty schottenheimer is the reason san diego is 1-1 this year. according to kiper, they're real good friends, and with marty not being there, it's causing the team to sel####estruct. (then he went on to say he doesnt want to harp on it, although he had just concluded a 4 minute rant in fast-speak about how marty got jobbed...or should i say de-jobbed?)
As stated elsewhere, yet still unanswered, I now understand from Isiah Thomas that it is less offensive for a black man to call a black woman a B than it is for a white man to do it. But my question remains.
As a mixed race person what are my "rights"? Is it OK if I'm feeling particularly "black" that dayright after having a slice of watermelon, but not OK if my white blood is rampaging that day and I'm not able to dance well or what? I mean it's all so complicated what with the stereotypes all crossing lines when you're mixed race.

Hey SoCal, not so quick. Becks got here with a bum ankle and gave it a go. He then hurt his knee against a very good Pachuca team playing for a $1 million. His third game in four days. A tough beat. He went into that tackle with his legs, not his eyes, wide open. Great goaltending that night, also. The word on the street, at least from Mexicans, was the Galaxy played better without Becks. But I'm not buying into that. He wasn't fit. You can't play on a bad ankle against the champs of Mexico with a mil on the line. That's like sending out Rex Grossman with a bad elbow against Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl.
Anyway, the Galaxy season hasn't gone well. But the league is doing fine. TV ratings and revenues are way up. Beckham jerseys are everywhere. His goal over the D.C. wall in the SuperLiga semifinal was better than anything I've seen from S.D. Spanos/Turner Chargers. Is L.T. hurt, too?
So for those who don't like soccer, watch the Chargers go from 14-2 to what do you think, 6-10?
By the way, SoCal, I'll be out of town for the last two Galaxy games, Oct. 13 and 18. Becks wants to be back by then. The 18th is Cobi Jones' last game. Can't believe I'm missing that. If you're interested, let me know.
