I just finished reading Lisa's evaluation of LSU. It doesn't suprise me that a USC fan is belittling the SEC, because they are still reeling from the embarassment of losing the National Championship to an SEC team. All last year SEC fans had to endure the bragging that eminated from Southern California as well as from Ohio State. In the end, the Florida Gators proved that the SEC is still the best conference.
USC lost to UCLA, hardly a great team, and Michigan lost to OSU. Meanwhile, Florida just rolled along biding their time until they finally got the opportunity to show the Big 10 what SEC football is all about. Make fun of LSU, make fun of Georgia, root for Cal against TN, but at the end of the day if Georgia wins and TN wins, will you change your mind Lisa?
The margin of victory is not the only thing that matters. If it was, then USC should have won the national title last year. The blew out many opponents, only to lose the game that counts. Winning all your games is what matters. USC is a dominant team in a weak conference. LSU, Georgia, FL, TN, and Auburn, are all good teams in a dominant conference. Only one can survive to fight for a national title, while USC just has to win against mediocre competition all year to go to the BCS title game. Not to mention that the SEC has a play off set up which adds one more level of toughness to earn its BCS title shot. For that reason alone, USC should have the upper hand to make it. The deck is stacked in a Trojan way.
I look forward to seeing a post from Lisa/all other SEC haters when TN and Georgia win. If they lose, I will be posting about how great the PAC 10 is.
No matter who wins or loses, isn't it great that we can officially start the trash talking. Let the bragging begin.

*Does anyone have a college pick em league set up? If not, we could do one before noon today and get picks in on the SEC vs Big 10 vs. Pac 10.*
you said, "because they are still reeling from the embarassment of losing the National Championship to an SEC team"
USC never lost the championship game, Ohio St did. USC was never in the championship game. I am not a SEC hater...I like the SEC.
I was upfront and honest with the analysis of LSU. Alot of pundits agree with me. I am not a homer for my team when it comes to offering opinions, and in fact, blasted my team for hiring a dogfighter as an asst coach. I am more than fair unlike some SEC fans who talk up their conference NO matter what. Here is an example...SEC fans call USC's schedule weak, that the pac 10 plays nobody. It's a fact that the top two most difficult schedules belong to Washington and USC, but yet no one recognizes that. They just keep blasting our conference w/o any facts to support it.
8/10 most difficult schedules belong to the pac 10, according to Phil Steele. But that gets lost among SEC fans.
Bottom line...I like the SEC. I love the South, but their fans are obnoxious and can't take a well argued opinion. They have blinders on. And my blog was not trashtalking...it was an honest opinion on the game. Go to ESPN.com...they agree with me, they just said it more diplomatically.
Socl...the SEC plays a CC for one reason....money. We don't have 12 teams in our conference so we can't play a CC...that's a moot point about them having to play an extra game...it was their choice to do it. If you choose to play it, then don't use it as an excuse.
Just where did I "make fun of Georgia?" I said they would lose to Oklahoma State.

james...yeah, and nothing beats the atmosphere of the SEC football games...I got a glimpse of what it would be like in Dega. Those folks are partiers and hard core fans. And they play good football. I just don't see this year as their year...but I could be wrong...it's not uncommon! LOL!
The Pac-10 is the second best conference, top-to-bottom, in the country behind the SEC. The conference's best teams are about even, but the SEC is deeper.
The Pac-10 hasn't gotten its due for quite awhile because their games are on later. Arizona State, for example, plays nearly all of its home games at 7:30 PM. It stands to reason that teams in the east and midwest get way more attention simply because of accessability. Not that I would change this-I kind of like being able to watch an east coast game as 9:00 AM here.
I hate conference championship games. They are just another hurdle for what should be happening-a TRUE national championship game.
Lisa, you know I love you too. Ever since you and I went at in Rev's smack talk, (which I think I would have won if you would not have slept with the judges) I have fallen for your charm.
As for the Pac10 being rated so tough, I really think that is over rated. USC and Cal is all there is.
As for USC losing to the SEC, what I meant was that the SEC won the title and the PAC 10 didn't. Main reason why is because USC lost to UCLA. Had USC won that game, FL would never have even been in the BCS to prove how good they were.
Also, lest you forget, USC did not win the BCS about three years ago, but LSU did under Nick Saban. THe sports pundits say USC won 2 national titles in a row, but the second was an AP title, while LSU won the National BCS title. Of course USC then lost to Texas led by Vince Young the next year after that. Again, I picked that outcome. USC is a great team, but losses to Texas in a championship game, loss to UCLA to keep them out of the championship game, does not make a dynasty. Sort of like the Braves who had 14 NCLS titles, but only one WS. USC is a great team, but I think FL will have two national BCS titles in a row, crowning the SEC as the superior conference.
Lastly, we both agree the atmosphere is unbeatable in an SEC game.
4:15 left in the game and it looks like Hart put Michigan on his shoulders. It's great to see this as App St was fired up and Michigan MAYBE thought it was a cuocake like Corso and Herbstreit said, but isn't College Football great.
Henne isn't looking that good today, but the season is just starting.
The only thing I like about you is you're avatar! As for the comment, there is always a chance when those two teams get together, but not this year!!FIGHT ON!!!
Kick off, Michigan with 109,000 fans. the kickfrom App. St down at the 34. 21 seconds left. Must pass to FG range. Manningham catchs ball ball and must kick field goal with 6 seconds left for the win-It's blocked. Michigan loses.............................. ............Oh m God. App. St wins. Unbelievable. Carr is looking grim. Henne is stunned, Michigan is stunned.
This is a big blow to Michigan. I can't believe it. Looks like the most stunning upset ever in College football. WOW. What a game. Way to kick off the Big Ten Network.

SEC or Pac 10 most fans will never be satified no matter what. The problem being is that the games are played on the field and not in the minds of the prognosticators.
We all like to think tha we can pick 'em with the best of them. And most times we can but then again we tend to fail miserably when we're not on top of our game.
Did you see the abysmal failures of both Michigan and Notre Dame ? I'd like to think that at this moment in time Matt Millen might just be mor popular in the state of Michigan than Lloyd Carr.
Here we go with the toughest conference arguments already. Cal is rated as being one of the two best Pac 10 teams. Tennessee has not been rated as being one of the top 3 SEC teams. If the Pac 10 is to win the national title, all hopes ride on USC and not Cal. If the sports writers and coaches are to be trusted, there were more SEC teams in the top 25 than PAC 10. In the end, I am looking at interest at Washington and Ty Willingham. If he can bring that program up to speed, the Pac 10 will be an even better conference: USC, UCLA, CAL and Washington. That would be a tougher conference. Until then I will put Rutgers Louisville and West Virginia against the top 3 in any conference. By the way, what are the odds of Appalachian State joining the Big 10?
LMAO how can USC have the #2 toughest schedule? Cal & Nebraska is all they paly. How does that rank #2? They dont even play anybody in the Top 10 and they get #2 schedule? Come on. That is a joke. LSU if they win out will end up playing 3 teams in the Top 10, how can that not be better then USC's entire schedule alone?
Pundits dont count. Half of this blogosphere is smarter then they are. #2 schedule, what were they smokin!?
How do the pundits not count if LSU is number 2? How do the pundits not count if there are more SEC teams than Pac 10 teams in the top 25? I am rooting for the USC LSU showdown but I am not counting on it. One of those 2 programs will suffer defeat, me thinks.
Way to Mich, making the B-10 the laughing stock of the early College Football season. Can't wait to see Ore beat their #### next week, they might slip by Notre Shame, but then Penn State comes calling to the Big House and will finally end the long losing streak again them, unless Carr cries and wants seconds added back on the clock to beat us at the end. Not this time boys, the Nittany Lions mean buisness this season. GO LIONS!!!!!!
