Remember last season when Johnny Damon said that he wanted to stay with the Red Sox? Well we saw what happened when George Steinbrenner opened his pocket book and soon Damon was swayed. Will the same thing happen to Curt SChilling? He says no, but then again why should we believe him. The Red Sox spent 50 million just to talk to the new Japanese pitcher and then signed him for another 50 million. That is a 100 million for one pitcher. Don't forget they also just signed J. D. Drew for 70 million and they still have Manny on the payroll for 17.5 million a year. I really don't think they are going to pony up for Curt, but I bet George will. So who thinks he will go to the Yankees?
I do. His denial was like a giant wake up slap in the face to George. What Curt is really saying is, "George, if you open that pocket book up wide enough I will wear the pinstripes along side of Andy Pettite." Do you think George was listening? We shall see.
Schilling has maintained since he signed with the Redsox that he was retiering after this season.
He has been asked wether he would change his mind under the right circumstances. In every case his answer has been no.
He's also pretty outspoken about his dislike of
Stienbrenner and the Yankees in general.
Stop deluding yourself,it will never,AND THE ROCK MEENS NEVER! happen.

I put the chance of him ending up on the Yankees at less than 0%, however.
"The right-hander's contract with the Red Sox ends after the 2007 season, but he said he was in discussions for an extension. If Schilling, who acts as his own agent, can't work out a deal in Boston, he will pitch for another team -- but not the New York Yankees."

I didn't read his comments, other than what I saw in the headline title. I can't decide whether or not I like Schilling...but at least he speaks his mind and voices his opinion.
Who knows where he might end up if he continues. He is exactly the type of pitcher the Yankees are likely to go after. A high priced veteran way past his prime with no long term value.
Sadly, the Red Sox are trying to jump on that same boat.
I can't even begin to understand Steinbrenners obsession with old pitchers. Didn't he learn anything with Randy Johnson? I wouldn't think Schilling even this opportunity much less be wondering what he's going to do? Sheesh.
Just finished reading the article.
I gotta say this comes as a suprise to me.
Up until now he has always maintained that this would be his last year.
He states in the article he is negotiating with the sox and if they couldn't work somthing out he would pitch for any team other than the Yankees.
If he changed his mind once I guess you never know.
p.s. Thanks for the link, Ultra

Socal, I couldn't see Schilling in pinstripes. If I recall correctly, he's slammed the Evil Empire on more than one occasion.
If he goes anywhere, I honestly think it's going to be the Phillies. He's said repeatedly throughout the years since leaving Philly that he'd love to come back and finish his career in red pinstripes. Other than that, I think he'll finish as a Red Sock.
it wouldnt surprise me i guess. i have absolutely no doubt that steinbrenner will do whatever he can to reel in schilling. whether schilling bites is the question.
all i know is after hearing nick saban swear he wasnt even talking to alabama, then leaving the dolphins for that job, i take NOTHING any pro athlete (or college),coach, GM, or owner says as the absolute truth. even if schilling cant see himself (right now) as a yankee, that could change 10 months from now, when the $$$$$ signs are flashing before his eyes.
Socal .... I don't think that Schilling would dare evoke the wrath of the Sox fans by going over to the 'dark side'. Because if he did he'd be seen as the biggest traitor since Benedict Arnold. We know that Damon went for the money and as yet I doubt that any of the Red Sox fans have forgiven him for doing that. But in the case of Schilling and all his postseason heroics when they won. Even he wouldn't be as stupid to betray these fans.
But then again when it comes the 'green' it speaks many languages.
'Cheddar','bling' ,'moola', 'dolla's ','Benjamins'.You name it we all can speak it and as we all know it's spoken in many languages.
It's just the price that we tend to have a problem with !
It would be hard for me to envision Schilling in pinstripes, but stranger things have happened. For it to happen, however, Boston would have to give him some huge motivation to do a Johnny Damon.
