Photo of Landis Receiving Testosterone Found
Aug 03, 2006 | 7:01AM | report this

I just read the latest news article on Floyd Landis and if I were him I would just apologize and admit that I am guilty.  This latest statement by his attorney is laughable at best.  His attorney, Jose Maria Buxeda admits that the second sample will test positive and then went on to say,

However, Landis is "certain" he hasn't ingested banned substances and is "pretty sure" he can prove his innocence,”

Of course Landis is certain he did not ingest anything, he injected it into his rear end.  “Pretty sure” he can prove his innocence is not the same thing as I did not dope.  (I think this picture clearly shows that someone from Landis' race team is inserting a testosterone laced suppository up his arse.) His original statement in which Landis had to recite was bad enough, but now his attorney has all but admitted that Landis did the unthinkable.  There is an old saying that goes, “With friends like these who needs enemies.”  The same could be said for Landis’ attorney.  Take a look at this statement by Buxeda who is trying to explain why Landis could have a higher ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone,

"For instance, in cases of dehydration, maximum effort etc. sometimes the body does not behave as it usually does and that could maybe explain abnormal results, as it could be if the result is confirmed in our case,"

Once again trying to prove dehydration or any other natural cause for a high ratio does not explain the “synthetic” testosterone that has been confirmed to be the cause of the high ratio.  In other words, the fact is that the testosterone level was disproportionate because of something that was added to your system and not created by your body.

Let me be the first to congratulate Oscar Pereiro, picture to the right,  on his Tour de France win.   Pereiro was Phonak's lead rider from 2002-2005 until Floyd Landis moved over from Armstrong's team  to become their number one guy.  I find that just a wee bit ironic.

Clearly the Phonak race team assigns responsibilities based on seniority, and that guy in your pic must have just been hired....

Buxeda's strategy is obvious - do what defense lawyers everywhere always do, and that is confuse, obfuscate, throw any silly theory against the wall hoping it will stick. Unfortunately for Landis, that horse has already left the barn and isn't coming back....

Half, the guy in the photo is Oscar Pereiro, the Spaniard who came in second. That is a photo from a year ago, he no longer races for Phonak. He was replaced with Landis. I found it ironic because had Phonak kept him, they might have the win.

socal -

LMAO! Epic!!!!

I totally missed the Pereiro/Phonak connection! How funny is that?

Too bad Johnny Cochran isn't still around. "If the glove don't fit, you must acquit!"

For the record, I'm willing to accept Landis doped if it's proved AND he fesses up. I don't suspect he'll fess up (even if he did dope) so I'm going to just continue on my crusade of faith in Landis and see where he lands.

I have to admit, that caption about the TT start picture is pretty funny. Nicely done!!

So wouldn't it be ironic that it was the Jack Daniels that elevated his testosterone? That'll be some good press for them! Perhaps that's what we need to get cycling to be a more recognized sport in the US? A pro cycling team sponsored by Jack Daniels and Budweiser! There seems to be a plethora of riders looking for jobs right now, I'm sure we'd be able to get the pick of the litter. Actually, this would be a dream team - Basso, Ulrich, Landis, Hamilton - just to name a few.

The JD/Bud team could have some swimsuit models at the feed zones handing out 6 packs of Bud Lite. Oh the marketing ideas are coming to me fast and furious!

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was referring to the poor guy in the top pic who was assigned the unenviable task of giving Landis his dose of testosterone....

Half, sorry, I missed that, but now that you mention it, that is so funny.

NC Biker, no problem with having faith, just hope its not misplaced. I choose to support Lance Armstrong, but in my heart I know he probably used EPO. It is the nature of the business.

As for Jack Daniels or Budweiser, that would probably get a few more fans.

Socal,
I think your post completes the coverage of this guy. Stick a fork in....oh wait; he's already been stuck. How in the heck do you allow someone to make comments on your behalf (Landis) that are so incriminating? I saw a 4 time tour winner pleading for Landis to do something good for the sport.... fess up! Well, it too late for that now. Socal in case you didn't know how I feel about cheaters http://blogs.foxsports.com/Nt2nice/

If Landis' body can spontaneously produce dope by riding a bike, I'm going to take a spin around the block tonight and try to produce Sam Adams Light beer.

Since when did Socal become Smoketheblowfish, The Sports Intellectual, Dudski, ShooterB or HalfBaked with the comic relief post?

Although the topic is absolutely serious, that picture is just awesome.

socal Landis only proves what my blog was about....... I'm Not A Cheat ! .....I Only Play One Infront Of......he's totally made an #### of himself and shamed the US cycling community by his actions. I'm waiting to see what position will be taken by the governing body here in the US.

Thanks for all of the comments guys.

Dan, you should go back into my archives and read some of my work in December and January. I had quite a few comical posts back then. The one on George Steinbrenner and King Kong, and I did numerous ones on Superheroes for dads, and I probably erased the ones on the Master's and sexuality. Anyway, I can be funny.

i cant really feel bad for him - he had to have known he'd get busted. the sport is dumb anyways. they even ban caffein, i have issues respecting any sport that bans a good cup of java (or cup of joe if youre broke like me).

i'm taking issues with these whining athletes looking for reasons why they lost. the sports first move was to discredit the winner. whenever youre exceptional at anything - at least now a days - you spend your victory lap defending your self from the scrubs you beat. i'm tired of their excuses. sure, theres no proof landis might have won without steroids, but there's no proof any of those scrubs could have beaten him had they taken them.

its all spectacle. its entertainment. and its french.

Thanks burger, and yes, Half's comment was.

Demon, I don't feel bad for him either. I also am not fond of the cycling as a sport, but those guys are in awesome shape.

Missed this before I guess. Hilarious!

I guess that explains it all. He's got his head down, with a tough guy look..."it's time to be a man and take my medicine".

Can't imagine anyone wanting to win a race that bad. Yikes!

Shooter, thanks for stopping in. I agree, I can't imagine wanting to win this so badly, but he did.

Hey Burger, Shooter, Half, everyone, you need to go to Gerbilsportsnetwork and read his post on Chorizo. Here is the link. It is well worth the time, and very funny.
