Lucky for me, I just picked up Barry for my fantasy league. One of the other guys who had him said he could not stand that Barry plays every other day and dropped him. That was my queue to snap him up. Barry helps with your on base percentage and HR's. He has hit two this week for me.
This is Barry's line from yesterday. One of the walks was intentional. Of course on Friday they walked him intentionally with the bases loaded. He still draws more walks than any other player and only plays in half the games.
He has the highest OPS on his team and the highest Slugging percentage. This is from a guy who is not in the lineup for every game.In fact, he was told he was getting the day off today and he insisted on playing.I am pretty sure Alou is glad he let him start.Bonds still has one of the sweetest swings in baseball and he appears to me to be getting healthier every day.
His knee does not look like it is bothering him that much as he made two spectacular catches this week, (One pictured above) and even stole a base on Wednesday.Could it be he wants to impress the Oakland A’s so he can DH for them next year?Maybe that is why he did not want to miss a game in this series.Who knows for sure, but Aaron better watch out because a new sheriff is coming to town.
Nice update. I am torn by the fantasy league loyalties...I think they ought to have a different name, like "vested gaming interests" or some such pseudo babble...
But I love to see Bonds and the others get the high numbers in my (our) lifetime. I love seeing how high Griffey and Thomas go, too. But you know this.
My top ten is up and chugging, please check it out.
I was one of the boneheads who dropped Barry right before the Oakland series for a pitcher who was starting the next day and had average stats but blew his start.
Then Barry hit that dinger on Saturday, and I felt like an ####. Someone else already picked Barry back up in the meantime. You aren't playing in a Yahoo league are you? LOL.
How is the Fox Sports Blogger Golf Tourney coming along?
Hey G, long time no see. I am in a Yahoo baseball league and currently in 5th. I had a horrible first week, but since have climbed my way to the top. As for the golf tourny, I played in one today and shot 15 under, but we lost to a team that made it in seventeen under. On Fox, I only have interest from 3 people, so it is on hold for now. I would love to meet up with you and Mean sometime for a round. We are all close. I played in Poway today in a CIF tourny.
Yeah it has been awhile SoCal. Sorry for the extended absence. Had to rescue a few of my times from a terrible start as well. I have had one team that has been between 3 and 6 all year long, but the others have been up and down. I have one in 3rd, one in 4th, one in 6th, and one in 7th at the moment. All have been in 1st at one time or another, but they have kind of plateaued out in the middle of the pack for the past few weeks.
Poway isn't far away at all. Perhaps I will have to join you a Mean D one of these weekends even though I don't really play. Just missed out on my company's golf tourney this past week because I was in Palm Springs visiting family. Guess I saved myself from embarrassment. LOL.
socal - I have been wondering for a while if Barry might replace Frank Thomas next season in an A's uniform. It seems to make sense because he is of course a better version of the Big Hurt. The cost is the issue although for a franchise hurting for attendance it might be logical for them to sign him for 2 years at a discount.
He would be treated with kid gloves in the Bay Area and I'm not sure that every other possible destination would be as happy to have him at this stage in his career. It will boil down to $$$ as most things do.
On another note, the #### tech guys put "NGS2 winner" on both Hi & Moore's blog this morning. I actually congratulated Bri because there was nothing on the judges' blog at the time. Then when I pointed it out they wiped out my comment. Guess they aren't too happy about being called out for moronic mistakes.
