Take Away My Man Card...No CFBall for me. Ryder Cup Time
Sep 20, 2008 | 2:18PM | report this

I was beyotched at  because I wasn't watching Florida dismantle the overrated Tennessee squad this afternoon.

I'm watching the Ryder Cup and haven't cut away to College Football.  Sure, it seems like this golf event is made for TV, but it's an old school event that features the best of the best.

Viewers who only watched the Friday's last five holes of J.B. Holmes and Boo Weekley against the Euros got their moneys worth.  I love watching these red-necks go against the hoity-toity Euros.  Fist pumps and stare down are good television.

How can you not love a sports event where a commentator says, "That's not a good hole location for a hooker!"  Hey now.  That's gonna leave a mark.

The 2008 Ryder Cup is being played at Valhalla in Louisville.  I didn't mention the state, because if you don't know it's Kentucky, you shouldn't be on the WWW!

The Ryder Cup is an every other year event played played since 1926.  It's U.S. vs. Euros.  The best of the best go head to head in multiple golf formats.  The event features 28 matches and 14.5 points wins the trophy.

Consider this the World Cup of golf.  Shots are amazing as the squads are filled with dudes who earned their place on the teams.  Time for another Natty Light.   George Bush senior is the U.S. ambassador for the Ryder Cup.  The matches are filled with galleries including celebrity golfer wanna-be former athletes.  I've seen MJ too many times this afternoon.  Ah yes, this is the only time you'll see smack talking and evil stares in golf with out someone named Woods.  Good Times!  College Football can wait till tonight.

(After the matches were final.

The U.S. won the competition.  Still, the viewers won due to fantastic shot making on drives, approaches and putts.  The Ryder Cup is distinct in its format since golf is not a team sport.  I feel I missed nothing by boycotting CFB and the NFL for part of Saturday and Sunday.)  We now resume football season.

Yes, proper English is lost on those pompous British wanker-types.

Just 'cause you're watching Ryder Cup golf doesn't mean the denial of your " man card". But had you openly told us that you'd been watching the WNBA then I'd have a problem with you for sure.
Those singles matches rested on the fact that the Europeans couldn't get it done when it really mattered with their putters. And that if anything played a part in their loss.

Helluva win for the U.S. without Tiger. I honestly think his celebrity and ego are detrimental when it comes to team play. This group seemed to have a humble team chemistry, and plethora of motivation. I think we learned about a couple of new golfers over the weekend. Tiger may come back to a bit more competition. It's hard to say that not having Tiger helped them, just because of how good he is, but I will say it did not hurt as many thought it would.

I'm no wanker and I think if you understood the connotation of the term you'd find that it questions a guy's zest for sex. In this case the word alludes to the fact that he needs to sustain himself by pleasing himself without any assistance.
And that's one thing you can't claim that I for one am about. This Brit (me) knows his way around when it comes to gettin' some.

justan, if I ever make it out to the UK, you gotta show me around. I would love to lay waste to some prime British females. One of the few nationalities I have yet to try.

Yes, sir, I understand the connotation...I hang with a buncha Irish fellas (ya knobby kynt). You should hear what they say about you "pommy bahstads" when the topic comes up.

The point I was trying to make was that some of the announcers have a dry, toungue-in-cheek humor which passes over most Americans who aren't used to hearing the King's English.

I'm a Coc*kney myself born and raised in the East End of London. And boy even upon my most recent visit there things have really changed. It's changed so much so that the last home where my Mom lived. Within its (1/4 mile away) vicinity there's now being built or should I has almost been built what'll be the largest mosque in Europe. That edifice will be able to seat up to 15,000 people and let's just say it's already pis*sing off a great many of the inhabitants in the community.

Don't get me wrong I'm not against religion of any sort. But in these perilous times that's the last thing I'd want in my particular neighborhood. Extremism of any sort is most definitely a dangerous thing at this juncture. So much so that when I visited Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park London. The police were on watch as the protesters from various forums espoused their ideaology.

Justa, no one here with a clue thinks you're a poofta or wanker...like there's a diff.

The Ryder Cup was the best I can remember.
Cheap pars didn't win holes.
Long birdies and eagles were required.
Great play from both sides of the pond!

I don't know that too many guys would understand the connotations behind the words poofta let alone wanker. Poofta alludes to a hom*osexual and wanker is guy who spends much of his time mast*urbating for sheer pleasure. Hopefully that'll enlighten the guys who use the word all too freely without really understanding the true meaning of the words.

They're now hammering the cr*ap out of Faldo 'cause of his handling of the European Ryder Cup team. Overnight he's now become persona-non-grata. And about as well liked as Tony Blair and current PM Gordon Brown all rolled into one. Chances are he won't get the chance to redeem himself in 2010.

As for Eldrick Woods...Didjaknow he's one of the biggest losers in the Ryder Cup? Sorry, for dudes playing at least 15 matches, he has a terrible losing record.
I'm sure that bothers him as he sits on his yacht.

His overall Cup record is horrendous. But his last time playing for the US he was one of few bright spots on the team. I believe on that occasion he accounted for almost 25% of the points won.

Statistics are a dangerous when handled by zealots. I believe Burnt Orange isn't a color, it's a disease. The DH rule should be elimintated. I like cats and dogs...cats taste more like chicken. Women are god's greatest creation. Barry Bonds was detrimental to sports. The month after the Super Bowl is sports HELL. March Madness is the best elongated sports extravaganza.
The Masters is great watching, in spite of Jim 'nancy boy' Nantz. Anyone spouting political commentary should be barred from this site. This is a sports blog! I need a soma. easy polls
