NBA East Playoffs:Stink, Stank, Stunk - Detroit Waits In The Weeds
May 18, 2008 | 4:25PM | report this

Ok Boston Celtics, this seven game series garbage has got to stop!

Atlanta AND Cleveland took the Celtics to the mat.  The cream of the 2008 NBA has stunk up the joint in two playoff series that should never have been as competetive.  Boston played down to the level of their opponents.  Yes, Cleveland is far superior to Atlanta, yet Cleveland wouldn't see the playoffs if they were in the West. (Hold the hate mail.)

Shocking in today's Game 7 was the point total.  Both teams actually sniffed at 100 points.  That was the heart stopper for me.  Instead of watching the final minutes bored to tears at the brick laying, I paced the floor with a beer, then another.

Since when are players allowed to JUMP ON TOP OF opponents for a loose ball.  You can't go through a dude for a rebound, so what's up with that!  Two memorable loose ball exchanges resulted in a double technical and a double date.  There were more peeps laying on top of each other than at an Indigo Girls concert.  All that was missing was George "Scrap Iron" Skadaski or Ivan "The Polish Hammer" Putski!

Maybe this dude can make a shot and play D!

Hey Celtics, I've followed you guys for years and it's time for you to act like the East champs.  It's too late for the garbage ball because the Pistons have been licking their chops waiting for you to bring your poor road play to their house.   Who'd think that you could be b-slapped around by punk teams this playoff season.  Today's Game 7 was far too close and you won't get another weak opponent.  Step it up against Detroit or be crushed!

Ainge, get your butt down to the floor and give these guys a pep talk.  Tell stories about your days vs. L.A. and playing with a great squad.  Do something to motivate these fools!  That tiny Most Valuable Executive trophy you received isn't worth squat if you lose.  I have one just like it at the office and so do plenty of other dudes.  If anyone wants one, they retail @ $29.95!  Who will remember your 40 win improvement over last year if you continually play like a rec league team in the playoffs.  Every other team is hungry and you're getting by on your 2007-8 wins rep.  It's over baby.  Step it up or get the fishing reels ready!

Play ball!

husker,
You da man my brother, you da man. Nobody tells it like it is better and funnier than you. It's true though and if Ray Allen can't find where he left his shot at, then this series is over befor it began.

Yeah I agree. Think Detroit is waiting in the weeds with fully automatic mini-14's? They sure have some amo on that team.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating; no team has gone into the NBA Finals without a road win since the 1963 Lakers, and they only played one seven game series to get there. The Pistons can win in Boston; in fact, their only regular season win came in Boston! So the C's better not think that the series will be won at home. They'll have to get at least one win at the Palace.

It can't get any uglier than Celts-Cavs, can it?

I'm sticking with the Celtics as I picked them in January, but at this point the Pistons have got to be licking their chops!

I loved the non-call flagrant foul, Z was grabbed around the neck and floored, but why let a little thing like the rules affect who wins...

I'm glad the Celtics won but they have to have something from Ray Allen and up their intensity if they plan to beat the Pistons. Even in 7.

The Celtics were sleepwalking in the third.

This is Boston's first year playing together, regardless of how good the individual players were on other teams...they don't have one full season under their belts. The playoffs is a whole different ball game. They have yet to find their chemistry and the playoffs is not the time to look for it. As much as I'd like to see Boston win, Detroit wins the series in 6 games...

As much as I'm jonesing for a Lakers-Celtics final, I think it's going to be Lakers-Pistons.

Lakers: defeat Hornets in 5 or Spurs in 7.
Pistons: defeat Celtics in 6.

FINALS: Lakers defeat Pistons in 6, Celtics in 5.

GO LAKERS.

jon464...the Jazz took 2 from the Lakers and you think the Hornets will only win one game? Give them a little more credit than that...they are not the Nuggets.

all i have to say is in the end, LBJ bailed the Celtics out. he gave up a 3 pointer at the end to try for a two pointer, that would have done nothing more than...well, nothing.
i am not impressed with Boston to this point, and i'm sincerely hoping that Detroit exposes them this next round. similar to Boston, the Pistons have a bad habit of playing to the level of their competition...but i think they woke up in the 1st round when Philly tried to take it to them.
i think they'll step up another notch against Boston and win in 7.

The Celtics are like a pregnant woman in her third trimester. When it comes to travelling that's really the last thing that they really want to do.

However in their case it's not morning sickness that they have an aversion to but winning on the road.

The East is now becoming everything more and what we could've possibly imagined. The Celtics aren't all they're cracked up to be. They're going to be exposed by the Pistons.

As to the West the wheels on the bus of the Spurs've fallen off. Down 0-2 the Lakers are 'bout to handle their business . Sad to say as a devout Spurs' fan I can envisage the reality of it all when I see it.

See my most recent posts and let me know what you think as to their merits ? I'll look forward to reading your comments.

Ramp-
The Celtics DESTROYED the West all season.
That's what makes this playoff, garbage play so amazing.
As for the Spurs, it's a bad time to swoon.

Unless we can sabotage the Lakers' efforts by bringing some shapely females and liquor. Then we mightn't stand a chance in hell of defeating 'em !

Lisa, our Celts need to win Game 6 and end this now.
The marketing machine ensured the Lakers participation when they paid off the refs at the last time out in Game 4.

Manu was a huge liability in total. He delivered in two games, barely.

Stern is hoping that all of the air'll be su*cked out of the arena tonight when the Pistons play the Celtics. That way it'll ensure a Celtics' win and with 'em meeting the Lakers in the Finals.

He obviously knows it'll make good business sense from the NBA perspective.

Biggie and Pac are OK but I like my rap to be making some real social points. Hence I love Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli,Nas and The Roots with a little bit of Outkast sprinkled in for good meaure.

Talib Kweli ......

The Roots ........

Socially active and their work speaks as to the depths to which they're prepared to send a message.

As to Clinton she debases herself by sinking to the lowest denominator by using race as the crux of her idea of winning the nomination. She portends that it's Obama who's out of touch. When clearly it's her that's the person who hasn't got a pulse on the electorate's thinking much like the political pundits out there.

The political process here in the US is so friggin comical that it borders on something out of a Monty Python routine. How the hell can you have the island of Puerto Rico voting as part of an electoral process but when it comes to the national elections they're not allowed to participate ? Is this really democracy at work or the form that the US wants to sell abroad to other parts of the world ?

This is utterly ludicrous to say the least. This country oughtn't not to be telling others about democracy and what it means when they themselves don't practice what they preach. It's bulls*hit and we all know it as that !

clinton.obama.mccain

The Black Knight looks to have defeated his intrepid foe but she's not prepared to give up without a fight.
Sire what are we to do ? If there's no one for you to face in the Winter what then ? Shall we go off to war to face the threat posed by the infidels in the East ?

If you thought that the playoffs were suspect. Then imagine what'll happen if the Finals themselves end up being none competitive. Stern and his hierarchy will end up with eggs on their faces and nowhere to hide.

Afterall it's allegedly The NBA Finals that everyone wants. But no one there is willing to admit that this end up being somewhat of a fiasco.
