God Hates the New York Yankees: Sent Waves of Insects
Oct 06, 2007 | 3:22PM | report this

Yes, it's now proven that God, father of the Lord almighty, hates the New York Yankees.  As many sports aficionados will remember with glee, on 10/5, God sent a fleet, covey, flock or whatever, of bugs to unleash his vengeance on the New York Yankees.   Insect specialists at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, NE, have identified the bugs as Canadian Flying Ants.  OK, what the heck is Border Control doing.  Isn't this a department of Homeland Security!  How did millions of Canadians sneak across Lake Erie into Cleveland!  Better yet, how did I know it was Lake Erie?  The nickname, stupid, you know, Mistake on the Lake!

If you don't believe that God hates the Yankees, look at A-Rod's batting average in Yankees-Away-Playoff-Games.  That should be proof enough.  He's batting about 0.111.  Multiply that by six, the number of bug swarms sent 10/5,  and you have .666!    Sp-ooky.

"Can a bug get some Joba Chamberlain around here?  Wait till my cousins  from the south show up for Game 3."

If you're looking for biblical chapter and verse, I'm not the source, so check with Carolyn T.

Watching Joba Chamberlain, a fellow Husker, flail on the mound was beyond comical and gross.  It belonged on late night television.  OFF didn't work.  I had to hurt for Joba, yet cheer for Cleveland.  Still, I'm looking forward to 10/7's Game 3.  I have it on good authority, from the Big Guy, far above, that he's sending the Yankees a new vermin ...Mexican Killer Bees.

Be afraid, be very afraid, Yankee fans.

Every Division Series is at 2-0!  Advertisers cry in unison.

Who knew Moses would play a role in this year's playoffs.

That was crazy, but hey, Cleveland had to battle the critters too.

Leave it to Canada to spoil a good show.

Mean, for some reason, I think we both had a heavy church influence.
I laughed so hard last night, my date was annoyed at bug-gate.
Blame Canada! I think that's a South Park song.
Chamberlain was a magnet for the boogers.

I think this is just funny. Blame it on the bugs but yet Cleveland played with the bugs to and they arent complaining. The Yanks and their fans cant possibly be afraid of a lil bug can they? I can see it now everybody left and the boys went in the locker room screaming like little girls saying : Get it off of me"

Actually, no Yanks blamed the bugs. Even Chamberlain said it was his fault for the wild pitches.

Actually I have heard a lot of blame on the bugs. Its ok though the Rockies are going to win tonight. When was the last time a game was played and there was a good chance of snow during the game?

You've got to be kidding with the title, "God Hates the New York Yankees". Last time I checked the Yanks won 27 titles and the Indians won in 1920 and 1948, Phillies in 1980 and Cubs in 1908. There is no sympathy what so ever! I was at the game last night and putting my clear tribe bias aside was one of the best pitching duals I've ever seen.

I am hoping the current crew of Junk-ball lefties 40 year-old retire after this season (Glavine, Pettite, Moyer, and Kenny Rogers) since they frustrate the heck out of me because I know they can still be very effective.

IndianFever, it the blog was all about the bugs, not the Yankeees. I hop eht junk ball lefties don't retire. They're great for baseball.
Better yet, the Rangers should sign a couple of them. Bring Rogers back.

Sishusker,

I'll admit they are good for baseball but having lost to 3 of the 4 of them in the playoffs in years past I don't want to see them against the Indians in the playoffs again. Did the Rangers get enough value for the Texiera trade long-term?

Indian, Tex had no value as a Ranger. He was constantly whining, probably at the urging of his agent. The fans tired of him. The young prospects made it a good trade. The Rangers farm system has been poor lately.

PF - Could be four sweeps. Two down, two to go.
Broncogirl - The Rockies 'did good.' Ultra has to be crushed with this. His Phillies blog was his first love and a good write.

We'll see, I guess. Pettite couldn't have pitched any better, but the big contracts, yet again, did not prove their worth. Bats better wake up, or they'll have plenty of time to sleep and dream about what could have/should have been

God may hate the Yankees but somehow I believe that the Cubs' fans may well feel that he hates them even more . Sorry Mean D ! As pitiful as the Cubs have played but they went down faster than the Titanic.
See my latest post Ain't Too Proud To Beg Ah Them Damn Yankees ! Should they bow out of the series then Torre ought to step down for the good of the team and his own sanity. 'cause Steinbrenner isn't going to like what he's seen. He'll rail on both Cashman and Torre with a torrent of abuse without recourse. That's just his way !

And the Lord sayeth...

Alex, ye shall got hitless and be banished from the American League forever!

Roger, ye shall go winless and be banished from MLB forever!

George, I require ye to cease and desist lest ye shall suffer to a greater extent as compared to the suffering upon the earth ye hath produced!

So sayeth the Lord!

I think you can see that I like the angle there slshusker! Anyone ever tell ya that you favor that guy on Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?

Husker: I don't know if the Lord is against Evil Empire version 1.0 or not, but I sure don't like them at all. At this point, my only hope is that the Indians win the ALCS and leave EE's versions 1.0 and 2.0, as well as the team with the improbably long name from within the AL West, all watching from home. Otherwise, I will be strongly desirous that the NL team win it all.

Kelly - When it's going badly, all we have is humor and ammo.

Dinner - Payroll is why many root against NY.

Tophatal - Again, the highest payroll doesn't automatically win? Close your eyes and see Steinbrenner's ranting in his office. It's a happy place.

Sleepless- Me thinks the Yankees received the wrong Clemens software. They somehow loaded a beta version of Clemens$18mm. Been there. Not a bad deal for six wins!

Me thinks that Ol' George is suffering now from hearst arrythmia as they wanted to go into next season saying they're champions. And with that $1 billion stadium in the offing. It's not going to look so good if they fail once again.

After getting a top secreat folder, On why the power was cut off on the Bennferd Mega Fan Blasters that were running for the hole game outside Jacobs field keeping the winds strong to keep the bugs away.

Someone high up for the Cleveland front office figure the fans were keeping the Indians from hitting the long ball, Decided to cut the power. Knowing they had the right bug spray to keep most of them away from players.

They had Cutter bug spray, The Yankees were given OFF aerosol spray to use. So yes God made the Canadian flying ant, But I think Moses would have been seen rasing his staff to the sky.

Anyone from the metro-detroit area knows about "fish-flies". They are these annoying bugs that live for about one day and grow quickly up to about an inch in length...They are pretty blind and are attracted to light. So playing night softball near the lake in june, july and sometimes august can be EPIC...ever #### a one inch blind bug while sliding into second base?

How ya' holdin' up Husker?

I was born and raised a Nebraska football fan. I grew up watching my beloved Cornhuskers being led by a man with unshakable integrity and morals: Tom Osborne.

Osborne put together one of college football's most storied programs and it was built upon hard work and passion for the game. Those values seem to have been forgotten.

I was never in favor of the hiring of Bill Callahan. He has never coached collegiately and the West Coast Offense never had a prayer of succeeding in Lincoln. The offense is too complex for college kids to master and the cold Nebraska winters make it too difficult to run a pass oriented scheme.

I can deal with losing. I cannot deal with excessive penalties and lack of effort. Those things are a reflection of the coaching staff and the athletic department.

Pederson made a mistake in hiring Callahan and made an even bigger mistake in extending his contract. Callahan has not "exceeded expectations" and instead of "surrending the Big 12 to Texas and Oklahoma" we are being trounced by the likes of Missourri and Oklahoma State.

All of this is inexcusable. Pederson and Callahan need to be given their walking papers at seasons end.
