With 9 and 10 games remaining, respectively, the Bosox and Yankees are keeping it close, with Boston's 1.5 game lead.
The networks will be playing this up on FOXSPORTS and SportsCenter every night. McNabb could throw for 600 yards and 12 touchdowns; it won't be the lead story.
The pencil necked geek analysts will scurry out of their gopher holes and tell us why this or that will happen, whether the team wants the 4 days rest or 5...yadda, yadda, yadda.
Still, the good news for Boston is the minimum impact of bad news. Even if the Yankees do come in and steal the division title, the Sox will win the Wild Card.

Well Husk we've had it comin'. We've been yapping it up all summer and it's coming to bite us in the ARSE.....NOT YET....HOLD ON THERE DOGGY!. This puppy's not over with by a long stretch. Sawx got 3 away and finishes 6 at home. The 3 away are @ T.B.
The Yanks on the other hand have 3 more at home with Tor. and finishes up on the final 6 on the road.
The Yankee fans deserve to YAK it up all they can right now, but fair warning to them. IF the Yanks don't catch Boston and have to face the ANGELS in the 1st round...they'll be one and out. Angels have the Yankee's number.
AND the RED SOX NATION will come at ya both barrels ablazing!
But being Yankee fans they won't consider that happening .... so shoot away boys/gals have at us!

The Yankes are clearly the team peaking at the right time and even if the Sox do hold on, they're damaged goods in terms of team solidarity, unity, cohesion and peaking. But be careful things don't always go as planned. Ask Theo with Gagne.
Just takes one bad series to mess up your whole season. And I hear ANGELS calling out YANKEES.
Better hope you go farther than the SAWX in the post season because if you don't you'll have a hard time listening to us celebrate.
The Cardinals were only one game out of first place a few weeks ago. I had Cardinal fans trash talking on my blog staying stuff like "it's over," but the Cardinals then hit a losing streak and those fans suddenly went away. There's still plenty of baseball left. The Yankees theoretically could still miss the postseason at this point. I don't think they will, but Yankee fans can't act cocky until their team takes first place.
I keep hearing about the Angels having the Yankees number. It sounds to me that Sorates is having fears of facing Those Damn Yankees in the playoffs. Should worry more about Cleveland facing Boston.
All the Yankee/Boston trash talk aside. This is the best freakin rivalry in sports. Where in hell would the American League East be without this rivalry. Could you ask for a more suspensful exiciting finish to the regular season? Baseball at its best.
NO fears here ineed meds: At the moment the Yankees would be facing the Angels. Seems a bit disrespectful to the Angels the way Yankee fans are talking right past them and saying they'll meet the Sawx in the ALCS. Especially since the Angels have had a winning record against the Yanks come playoff time.
the sox are resting up. 1st place. wild card. whatever. The New York Mets were the only team last year to win a series with the home field advantage. The Red Sox shouldn’t worry about the division or home field and focus on the post-season.

Be VERY worried about facing Cleveland's mashers and their stud starters Sabathia and Carmona. Not to mention Borowski on the back end of the pen.
Regardless whether or not Boston holds off the Yankees, they have to face Cleveland and the Yanks face the Angels. It's Cleveland vs. Anaheim for the ALCS. Cleveland wins the AL pennant 4 games to 2.
