Barry Bonds Finally Doinks #756*
Aug 07, 2007 | 9:02PM | report this

Barry Bonds and Balco hit #756 out of the park late Tuesday.

The fiasco is finally over.

Oh yeah, C*ngratulati*ns.

The tape of Hank on the Jumbotron made me think of the Wizard of Oz.

Now please go away, Barry.

I need to love baseball again.

In 6 years we may see A-Rod set a new record.

At that time, you will think, where was I when Mr. Flaxseed Oil set the last HR mark.

It's time to put this polarizing subject to bed for awhile...on one side of the aisle we have the supporters of records and on the other are the anti-cheating section.  It's just like Congress.  The WWW has been jammed up with this for several months.  It's over.

Like that weeping sore you put the salve on. Eventually it goes away.

Now go away bonds.

Congratulations to Mr. Bonds, who has earned everything he's achieved in spite of baseball purists and agenda-bearing politicians alike who have tried to throw nails down on his road to greatness.

I, for one, am very grateful to have witnessed history and will not let siren-wailers ruin the moment.

Ultra, I knew you'd be up late watching.
We have different perspectives.
Go read GCoach. We posted at the same minute and almost keyed the same content.
We may be the same person.

Congrats Barry! Despite the posts of these ignorant/racist/jealous/naive fools, your accomplishments are appreciated by many.

Thank you for amazing us with your incredible achievements for all of these years.

Jay - Don't ignorant fools(racist is stretch) take steroids, claiming they thought it was flax seed oil? I'm glad it's over and now the lunatic fringe who blindly follow records will have to find another subject.

Barry will hold the record for about a decade, when A-Rod will track him down. If A-Rod does it in a Yankees uniform, the most cynical Yankee fans STILL won't consider him a TRUE Yankee.

BTW, congratulations to Barry. Now we can get on with the rest of the season.

jon - I think you're dead on. As I said above, we'll watch A-Rod set a new mark.
Most adults will say, "Thank God."
Yankee haters will cheer, too.
Jeter will be an after thought.
A new HR mark would make A-Rod a Yankee forever.

Time won't be kind to Barry and his ilk.
The steroid era has hurt baseball badly.

Thank GOD that I was doing something truly important when Barry hit his Dinger. I was reading bedtime stories to my wonderful girls. Barry will never be the TRUE HR KING. As a SAWX fan I say GO A-ROD!

Husker - I echo the sentiments of jon and Ultra in congratulating Bonds for his historic accomplishment and yours in that the fiasco should now be over and wishing now to be able and enjoy the rest of the season without the side show.

Socrates - were my children young and living in my home I would have been doing something with them. Good for you!

Don't ignorant fools spend an exorbitant amount of time trying to tear down the legend of another person when they could be spending that time in positive ways?

Sisko, who's blind here?
Barry is a cheater and admitted to taking steroids.
He spun it trying to claim it was a mistake and did what his trainer told him to take.
Get real. Responsible adults know what they're putting into their bodies.

I can argue that ignorant fools blindly support record breaking efforts, especially if taking illegal substances was the key ingredient(1998-2003).
HGH isn't tested for in MLB, is it. Read some interviews from MLB players on the subject of HGH.

Bonds is the most divisive individual of our generation. There is no grey area on opinions.
You'll work next to someone who doesn't feel the way you do about this subject and that shouldn't be a reason to hate them or call the person a racist. That's a cop out.

I didn't say you were racist. But the people who try to tear down the accomplishments of others are almost always one of the following:

ignorant/racist/jealous/naive

Take your pick, but I would bet any amount of money that you fall in at least one category.

Don't kid yourself, husker. The debates have just begun.

However, I was at a bar in Orlando when Barry hit the homer and the whole place cheered.

No asterisk signs to be found.

Barry deserves to be congratulated on breaking the record. Whether or not he did it with the help of substances whose illegality is now enforced is irrelevant. He's accomplished something extremely difficult no matter who you are or what you're taking. Congratulations, Barry.

An while we are at it shouldn't we also rise up and give GREG ANDERSON a standing ovation for being the MAN behind the MAN. When they show clips of Barry's HR are they also going to show side by side clips of Anderson in his cell? It's only fitting that credit is given where it is due.

They didn't show Hank Aaron's amphetamines dealer when he hit 715.

socratesofswat

Why that's because they didn't find out about Aaron's drug use for 18 yrs. The book Hammerin' Hank didn't come out until 1992. So the poor bloke was most likely in a ditch somewhere, or O.D.ed in some sleazy hotel. BUT we know where BARRY's drug dealer is.

sisko, The facts are facts the only thing that Barry broke was the fans TRUST both in the man and the GAME. If your standard answer of ignorant/racist/jealous/niave to all that are not of the your same opinion then you might just be ignorant/naive. Why would any of us be jealous, it's not OUR name being crossed out of the record books that honor belongs to Mr.Hank Aaron. Never, has Mr. Aarons integrity ever been questioned that all his HR's were done on skill and ability and not by the use of steriods. As for your racism BOTH player are BLACK where does racism play apart. No one is trying to "tear down the accomplishments of others" we are just pointing out the facts he is a self admitted drug user that does not deserve to hold a MLB record, police record maybe BUT NOT A MLB TITLE. Oh and by the way this post is coming from Texas so if you would like to call me a #### it's O.K. with me.

Super and now the Bond's family videos are now over. Hank Aaron showed what a class act he was. Vegas is already taking over/under bets on if he makes it to 780. Another week and I think his head may have exploded. Kickoff is almost here and that brings us back to Mike Vick. He is saying damn you Bonds, now the attention is back on me.

the real homerun king is still babe ruth. ole herman played pitcher for how many years? that means he didn't play but once every 3 to 5 games. not to mention the season was way shorter than it is now so he actually had alot less atbats than ole barry or hank but hey Ole Marky Marks record is still in the books for homeruns and he used steroids to get there also

Definitely. I'm so happy he hit it last night, so we can hopefully start to get the story out of the news. A-Rod will bring it all back in 2015.

By the way, what is that little mark or smear there at the end of your title?! It almost looks like... wait is that what I think it is?

Socrates/Fatmaw1 (same person) needs to get a life badly.

It's amazing to watch how the media has distorted the perception of Bonds.

Ken Griffey, Jr. was just as cocky as Barry Bonds when he was in his 20's. However, he had a better smile and answered more questions, so the media portrayed him in a positive light.

Personality-wise, there is hardly a difference between Bonds and Griffey, yet they're portrayed in such polarizing lights.

If Griffey was going after 756, everyone would be behind him, steroids or not. He's likeable, and that's all that matters.

As an Atl. fan, we love our "HAMMERING HANK", and it might take a little extra time to recognize Barry Bond as the new batting champion. I guess evey record is going to be broken some day. Besides, Hank Aaron has had the record for 33 years. So it might take us another 33 years to grt over it ourselves. So, congrats to Barry, the new ^!@#*^&$ champ. LOL

PEACE

This whole era of baseball has been tainted and it doesn't matter whether it's Bonds , Sosa or Palmeiro. It's baseball's fault and that of the sport's hierarchy for not doing enough to stem the tide of cheating. Now they're going after him like Tourquemada and the inquisition when they ought to be questioning why they remained indifferent to what was going on infront of their very eyes when it was clear that something was amiss.
Piouty and indifference will get you nowhere when you create a field of lies and subterfuge. And that's what Selig and his cronies had done over the years.

Here's my question...Are we going to have to continue hearing about every homerun "setting a new record"? As long as 756 means the end of the nonstop "Bonds blather", I'm happy. More power to him. Someone else will break it someday anyway. Records are meant to be broken. He's just a temporary place-holder for the next guy.
