Silly Phillies
Aug 27, 2006 | 10:12AM | report this

This all started back in 1998 when JD Drew refused to come play in that "hellhole." The Phils drafted the mighty Pat "the bat" Burrell golden spikes winner from the U of Miami. He was legend on and off the field...more on that later. So to make sure he`d sign, the Phils took his best bud and drinking pal Jason Michaels in round 4. Add to that mix over the years Jeremy Giambi and you have a trio very interested in the MLB nightlife. Burrell`s career in Philly has been all over the place, from showing world class power like new star Ryan Howard to hitting .200 and now being a ten million dollar platoon player. C`mon Phils you clearly traded the wrong outfielder and have to eventually clean up the play pen of drinking and chasing female groupies...err fans that is Pat Burrell!  Rest assured Stand Pat Gillick won`t get it done and Charlie Manuel isn`t gonna last long.  But hey...Pat may be mediocre on the field, but he is a hall of famer chasing tail off it. If only his stories of conquests could help the Phils or get him in the hall of fame.  Don`t stop chasin em Pat!!!

A-Rod is Fudgems!
Aug 26, 2006 | 8:41AM | report this

I`m really tired of all the A-Rod excuses for his pathetic play. After taking the lousy Seattle series off with a soar throat, the mighty Rod returned to be humiliated in LA with a big fat O-fer 5 & 4K`s! Well done Mr best player in the game/highest paid designated windmill. Look A-Rod you are NO Tiger Woods and the Yankees can`t afford to keep playing your caddie Nick Green at third while you figure out the next lame #### excuse for a wild throw. It is time to man up stop whiffing all the time and get ready for a legit playoff run. Being dominated by the Angels is so completely frustrating. I can`t wait till yet another west coast losing steak is over. I think of A-Rod now like the new Domino`s pizza add with Fudgems. Oh...you haven`t seen that comedy yet?   He`s a giant walking #### that shows up with pizza delivery guy and leaves a big duck butter skid on a kid who hugs it.  Go meet Fudgems, see him dance  or make errors at www.fudgems.com!! Ooohh Fudgems!!!

Where`s the former gold glove SS, now thirdbaseman????

What some former MLB players would have done on Roids.
Feb 18, 2006 | 12:00PM | report this

Just for fun...imagine if the following MLB players had used steroids while they played.

Pete Rose - Ray Fosse would have exploded into a million pieces in that collision.

Goose Gossage would have closed out games striking out every batter with 120mph heat.

Steve Garvey would have never missed a game, batted .300 with 200 hits every season and fathered 50 more children.

Frank Howard would have hit 50 homers by the all-star break and had 80 in a season.

Babe Ruth would been the greatest pitcher and power hit of his day...oh wait he already was.

Jim Rice would have knocked down the green monster clearing the way for far more luxery seats to overcharge for.

Reggie Jackson`s career HR total would have been just under 800 and that light tower in Detroit would have exploded like Ray Fosse.

This is just for fun, it`s really tired hearing about the Sosa`s and Palmiero`s of todays game.

The Sammy Sosa Debate. HOF in or out?
Feb 16, 2006 | 7:32PM | report this

Sure we`re all sick of hearing about the status or lack there of on Sammy Sosa attempting to take up space on the Nats roster or retire. Before you think I`m just gonna pile on, is it that wrong for a guy who batted .221 and battled more injuries to walk away? Yes it`s obvious his batting average and power numbers tumbled after 2001`s .327 64HR/160RBI-(How crazy are those #`s!) Basically Sammy was respectable until his attitude forced him outta Chicago and to the lowly Baltimore O`s where they collect old washed up DH types. It`s really a shame Sammy left the Chicago Cubs on such terrible terms. If anyone shoulda retired as a Cub since 1975 it was Sammy Sosa.(Sandberg retired twice-doesn`t count!) Unfortunately he has no one to blame but himself. Can`t even pin that one solely on Dusty Baker. Now the debate on if the know it all writers will grant him membership to Cooperstown after the cork incident and an obvious stretch of juiced up years.(66HR`s/63/50/64/49)-from 1998 until 2002. He helped save the game of MLB chasing and admiring another home run legend the embattled Mark McGwire. But the focus and strikes against will always be on the strong su####ion Sammy sosa was juiced outta his mind. To that I say he is in the exact same boat as another aging slugger who was once a fast, skinny OF for the Pittsburgh Pirates. McGwire started his career as a HR threat 49 his first full season, before adding on super human muscle mass. As for Sosa I applaud him for hangin em up rather than put on those silly Nats uni`s and fail. The best thing he can do to repent is give back to his native land and help youngsters play the game the right way. He deserves his spot in the HOF, it`s just gonna take several years of voting to be forgiven.

Jeff Weaver: He`s still out there and he still wants all your teams money
Feb 13, 2006 | 7:36PM | report this
A recent Sporting News article showed sour ####, poor sport, cry baby Jeff Weaver suppousedly excercising(Laughing, right Jeff ) as part of the Scott Borass master plan for his clients. It was one of the funniest things I`ve seen since Marlins ownership promised to stay commited to the city of Florida. Jeff Weaver is blessed with a resiliant and durable right arm, no heart or intelligence to want to learn or get better. Looking back, he was the one time lowly Detroit Tigers "ace" Then he washed out so bad as a NY Yankee including a game winning W.S. blast that may not have landed yet he was banished to the NL. Being in the NL worked, b/c it still favors pitching or at least lets other starters avoid big innings and pitch counts by making them try to hit.  Pitching in the best pitchers park around Ol Dodger Stadium Weaver was around .500, but very durable 200+ IP`s and many quality starts(What kinda dork stat is that?) Thanks, I`ll stick to W`s & L`s evaluating starters. Jeff Weaver just doesn`t get it and he`ll never be anything but a skinny, wild hair side armin bum who is now faced with no team left willing to throw huge money at him. Not even pitching poor Texas or Baltimore would fall for that. As for the pictures in that article. A frown on Weavers ugly #### with a long sleave sweater on and brand new, un-broken in black sneakers tells the story. He hasn`t worked hard, never will and is as familiar with the inside o####ym as a winning record. Sorry Dream Weaver no soup for you!

More O`s woes paying $2.1 Million for an idiot
Jan 12, 2006 | 3:39PM | report this
Wonder how Miguel Tejada will react to the pointless signing of washed up Kevin Millar by the O`s. How stupid is this once proud franchise? Stocking up on guys like Millar who can do nothing more than DH is why they will continue to stink out loud. Trading for Corey Patterson is one thing, stockpiling DH`s is another. So add Millar to a list of DH`s that already includes Javy Lopez, unless he`s going to split time with Ramon Hernandez catching. Jeff Conine, Jay Gibbons, and David Newhan. Assuming Brian Roberts is also healthy enough to get back on second base. Millar made more of an impact in the clubhouse and off the field in Boston. At 34 after producing only 9 homers in Fenway, he`ll do little more than eat at Boog`s sandwich stand and increase beer sales.  Too bad Big Fat Sidney Ponson has moved on to St. Louis(Sorry Cards, bad addition) Those two were meant to share a cab after a drinking binge. Instead of loading up for happy hour O`s...might wanna try sprinkling in some pitching.

HOF gets it wrong again with Sutter
Jan 10, 2006 | 7:27PM | report this
It`s not that I disliked relief pitcher Bruce Sutter, but selecting him as the only inductee this year for the baseball hall of fame is just another swing and a miss. To his credit, Sutter was a very good reliever, even won a Cy Young award in 1979 (Who`d he beat out Randy Jones?) Silly Cubbies hate holding on to those CY Young winners huh? He is also referenced as the modern day "father" of the splitter, won a world series in St. Louis. Speaking of which, how many have they won since? But in a HOF class the annoying baseball writers described as week, they again showed how baseball does so many things wrong. Sutter in no way was better than Goose Gossage-fact. Saves, world series won, strikeouts, ect. Punishing the likes of Jim Rice for being anti-social...hell he was a #### man who played in Boston! Andre Dawson, Dale Murphy and Jack Morris because their numbers in the 1980`s were before the boom of the 90`s. Shame on you MLB once again. The point of a HOF class is to celebrate these men while they are still with us and allow their fans to reminice about those days. For me the 1980`s was my introduction to the game and watching Dawson, Murphy & Morris as well as many more stars of that era. Instead you downgrade their careers and banish them to the not so great status that would be better placed on druggies(Rod Scurry) or lousy players(Lenn Sakata)  from any era. If Sutter after 13 years of waiting is suddenly good enough to gain enterance now why not Willie Hernandez who chalked up a CY Young/MVP & World Series in 1984 or Lee Smith...hell even Jeff Reardon could steal his way in. Relievers as HOF material is just not worthy. Can`t wait to see the further insult the Veterans Comittee elects, like some player who passed away prior to 1950. Stirring election speach there perhaps by Hoss Radburn the fourth!!

Pete Gammons does his best Kevin Bacon: "All is well!!"
Jan 03, 2006 | 8:17PM | report this

Mr Red Sox Ol Pete Gammons sure sounds like Kevin Bacon at the end of Animal House shouting "All is Well!" as complete chaos erupts around him. Sure the Sox got over big on the Fish fire sale of 05 landing Josh Beckett, Mike Lowell & even demanding reliever Guillermo Mota as a "throw in." Yes they also have several starting pitchers, but those big holes at shortstop & center field aren`t going to be magically resolved in a deal with the Devil Dogs. Tampa Bay might be the most unreasonable team to try and trade with ever. Well, unless your the Mets...Scott Kazmir for that junk?!  Preston Wilson went to Houston, and all that`s left is Corey Patterson and Dusty killed his confidence. Face it Pete, the idiots are all but gone and don`t think Schilling, Wells & Beckett will last the season without a DL visit. Enjoy that one title Pete, we took your cave man cleaned his #### up and now he`s walking upright and ready to score 120+ runs as a Yankee. How bout them marbles Gammons!! The death mobile rides again & it`s got a big NY on the side!
