Vermeil next Bills coach?...Why it`s not so crazy.
Jan 12, 2006 | 4:22PM | report this
Before anyone dismisses this an insane idea hear me out. The Bills are by far the oldest front office in the NFL with owner Ralph Wilson 87 and new(?) GM Marv Levy 80 at the helm.  Vermeil isn`t done coaching and hopefully no one out there is fooled by his recent departure in KC. Bet Vermeil would like nothing better than to show all the young guns coaching he`s the offensive master. Teaming up with Levy makes sense, two vets with mutual respect and one goal. The Bills despite a roster in need of help, definitely the swiss cheese O-Line actually do have skill players with speed that Vermeil likes in Lee Evens, Roscoe Parrish & the self proclaimed "best running back" in the NFL McGahee. To take it another step...I`ll even throw out a wild player move in that Trent Green could be acquired from KC who Vermeil loves. Chad Pennington most likely will be let go by the Jets and Herman Edwards could bring him over to KC. Get my drift here? Ok...too much? Here`s a fact: Vermeil would like a shot at the Patriot leader Belichick for revenge in what he did to the Rams way back in that Super Bowl and keeping KC down in the AFC the last few years. Classic Offensive mind vs Defensive nut. Like I said, don`t be too quick to laugh at this idea. It`s no more crazy than posts about Washington beating Seattle or who the Saints should draft.

Paying the Bills
Jan 12, 2006 | 3:51PM | report this

Mike Mularkey must be locked in a freezer somewhere in the confines of Ralph Wilson Stadium with a spotlight on him and a tape of Marv Levy asking him.."Where would you rather be than right here right now?!!?"  Mularkey is the last man standing, well sorta after Wilson 86`d his entire staff. Get the hint yet? Anything associated with ex-GM Tom Donahoe must go! Are you listening Mike Williams? No, of course not the double value menu is all you have on your mind. This franchise is in absolute dissaray and Mularkey might jump before he`s pushed out as coach. Wonder if Marv called on old pal #### Vermeil if he`d be interested? Just a thought kids. The Mularkey Era was a shameful extension of the failure that Tom Donahoe carried from Pittsburgh after the Steelers chose correctly in retaining head coach Bill Cowher and telling Donahoe to hit the road. Since he shuffled off to Buffalo it`s been a steady trail of losing, ex-Steeler assistants(Mularkey) & assorted castoffs.     Marv Levy is a brilliant leader, but he may soon find himself as head coach & GM if he`s not careful. Good luck Marv...you`ll need it!

Mularky must be fired!
Jan 02, 2006 | 6:02PM | report this
I know Bills owner Ralphie Wilson is 87 freakin years old and takes his time on decisions, but can it be any clearer that the collection of losers in the Bills front office/coaching staff must go?  Tom Donahoe has failed miserbly as the GM. Looking at Mularky and the list of problems is maddening. In no particular order he: Had veterns quit on him in Sam Adams & Eric Moulds, he even needed old Ralphie to fly in and deal with Moulds himself in the suspension. The Bills 5-11 record isn`t all, they lost to the Raiders, Jets & Saints. An opening day win over hapless Houston may have been a high point. Mularky watched a 20+ 4th quarter lead in Miami disappear. Somehow they beat Kansas City & Cincinnati, but you can`t take credit when you had far more bad losses. The offense was perdictably terrible each game and suffered the ultimate humiliation as old friend Ty Law grabbed 3 Kelly Holcumb floaters. This team is not looking any better for 2006, as veterns like Adams, Lawyer Milloy, Troy Vincent & Moulds should be moved out. It`s very clear that no one respects Mularky and his play calling is nothing to be feared. The Bills as always are wasting valuable time to interview quality coaching candidates. Remember Donahoe, who lost a power struggle in Pittsburgh to Bill Cowher choose Mularky. a Steeler assistant coach. At the same time Carolina grabbed John Fox, Sherman Lewis got the chance in Cinci & Lovie Smith in Chicago. Hurry up Buffalo, even your fans get endure losing forever.

Who was the worst coach fired today?
Jan 02, 2006 | 1:20PM | report this
Talk about cleaning house for the new year. NFL doormats everywhere unloaded their failed head coaches today just like we took down decorations. With all these coaches on the way out, who was the worst coach of the lot?  Was it Dumb Capers who didn`t do much for the expoansion Texans except nearly get David Carr killed. This is a high profile job, and the lure of Reggie Bush could draw some big names. I have to laugh at #### Jim Haslett, who definitely won`t be getting that 5 year extension or complete control of football operations. As bad a coach as he is, I think he`ll get another shot.(Beware Buffalo!) What else can I say about Mike Tice? His departure is like losing Wayne Fontes or Seinfeld...his comedy will be hard to replace. Green Bay clipping Mike Sherman is very interesting because of Favre`s comments on how he would come back if Sherman remained. Guess we know what the Pack wants Favre to do huh? Then there is "offensive genius" Mike Martz who it seemed would win at least one Super Bowl. Instead he leaves a complete failure and best remembered as the guy who started the Patriots run of dominance. Thanks Mike, try an offensive co-ordinator opening.  My vote for the worst coach of this bunch in a tough vote goes to Martz, who in a weak division managed to make the Rams losers by insisting to throw the ball way too much no matter who was at QB. Hopefully he won`t get another chance in the NFL. Best bet for the next firing could be the Buffalo Bills.

Lost in the the snow and beating administered by the Pats yesterday in Buffalo was the obvious inability of the Buffalo franchise to assess talent. For a team that plays on the east coast with games at season end in a blizzard having soft, cry-baby QB`s like J.P. Loserman just won`t cut it. Didn`t they learn anything from the utter failure of surfer dude Rob Johnson? It`s painfully clear that the hippie Lohsman is cold & clueless out there.  Granted that is the worst O-Line in NFL history with three starters completely out of position & Mike Williams a bigger bust than Tony Mandrich.(Yes, that`s true) Someone wake up the 87 year old owner and alert him that the front office is out gettin lap dances in Fort Erie. These Bills are terrible!

At least Buffalo has one pro team
Dec 12, 2005 | 5:01PM | report this
I know very few people in Buffalo know the Sabres have a good team. That`s right the NHL & those Buffalo Sabres are actually good. Sure the rest of the nation could care less. In a city where the media does nothing but cry of the failures of the hopeless football franchise, try switching to a winner the Sabres! Besides would Mike Mularky ever win a game of mental checkers with Belicheck or Saben? Didn`t think so...
