What's going on? No one seems to be tracking Asante Samuel's discontent with the New England Patriots. If Champ Bailey was disgruntled with the Broncos everyone and their mothers would be screaming at their team to make a move for him. Now I am not saying that he is Champ Bailey (no one place CB like Champ he is just the best in space and man), but the man had was dynamite last season. He was arguably a top five CB last season, for he lead the league in picks. Let us put this in perspective; Champ had 10 picks and made over 10 million last season, meanwhile Samuel had 10 picks and made lest that half a million. Once again I must say no one plays like Bailey, for he made his picks against not only the top receivers, but with Bailey he can guard anyone without help. However, Samuel has shown himself to be a clutch CB, for in back to back post seasons he had two picks.
Somebody has to close in on Samuel soon! I only hope it’s the Jets! Think about it, with the receiving squad that the Patriots might have next season (though I smell a bust) who would be better than the pro-bowl corner, for not only is he skilled, but he knows their schemes.
Players weren't even distracted by the absence of cornerback Asante Samuel, who is holding out for a contract extension after intercepting 12 passes last season.
"One person moves out, the next person moves in," said Ellis Hobbs, the other starting cornerback. "Anybody that's not here, man, we prepare as if they're not going to be."
thats just the way it is in patriotland. and if you ask me, the way it should be.
incidenatally champ had only 10 ints

Champ Bailey is unbelievable! I was in no way diminishing his skill. In fact his numbers are mind boggling. The ball was only thrown in his vicinity 30+ times last season and still picked off 10 passes.
The basketball analogy is not really applicable to football. There are role players in basketball. Kobe can score 100 points by himself off of a few pick and roles. Tomlinson is a superstar because each member of his O-line has perfected his craft and are able to keep out physical specimens like Sapp, Haynesworth, Porter, Farrior, Young, etc (just a few of the great front seven players Tomlinson had to encounter). Football does not have role players, each man is on his own and must perform his stint or else he is out.
Players like Champ are very expensive commodities, for a coach can forget all about one side of the field when a player like Champ is on defense. He ate every superstar receiver last season that lined up against him. You cannot coach a player like Champ, for they are born with that kind of skill.
Additionally, Hobbs is wrong! That is why they lost last season, for they allowed excellent veterans to leave because the management thought they were interchangeable parts and that sub-par players could fill their role. Look at them now . . . trying to pick up every superstar available . . . I think they learned their lesson.
Champ did have ten picks, but so did Samuel, the additional two occurred in the post season and that does not count toward season stats.
