Why do so many people wish that Brady Quinn went to Miami? Perhaps because most of them are not Dolphins fans and do not really care what happens to them.
The Dolphins should not have drafted Ginn first round, for they have so many other needs - like QB. But, Trent Green is a quality QB and will do well in a perhaps the second or third toughest division in the NFL (AFC West is the scariest division).
Considering that Brady Quinn has reportedly been having a tough time making routine passes against much faster defenses, how could he help the Dolphins who are in need of a quality QB NOW and not later? And he would not have a chance in the AFC East he would only get injured going up against the Jets and Patriots.
Brady Quinn may be a good player in the league because he is very talented, but remember David Carr is very talented and he can not do anything with his team because the O-line could not block a D-line made up of high school football players.
I went around with a local sportswriter about Quinn. I said Overrated. He said jewel.
We'll see. Why did so many teams pass on him if he's the bomb. ND players tend to be overhyped.
Look at your team and the draft rounds of the starters. Plenty of players keep getting better as Pros, while many first rounders have peaked and are happy with their signing bonuses.
Teddy as the first pick. Imagine how Jets fans would have freaked if he was their pick.
No, the Dolphins did not do the right thing. I would still take Culpepper over Trent Green any day of the week. And if they had not rushed Culpepper back, he may have had a decent second half of the season. As it was, he struggled because he wasn't ready to come back from his knee injury. Now he is fully recovered, but they are going with Green?
Sorry, it will be a few MORE years before the Dolphins solve their QB situation.
ricko - Culpepper is probably his own worst enemy. His act is old. He told the Vikings he was in great shape and demanded 10 mil a year but wouldn't let them track his progress. He told Miami he was ready when he obviously wasn't. Did the Dolphins have him out there too soon? I would say yes. Was it only their decision? I would say no. My guess is that now the Dolphins feel he is damaged goods thus the need for Green. Without looking at his medical chart but looking at his record and actions over the past couple of years...drop him and move on. Maybe Culpepper can go to Cardinals and back up Leinart.
gcoach-I see your point. I guess I was commenting with regards to the Dolphins QB situation. This was a huge off-season for them, and they wind up with Trent Green? I like Green, don't get me wrong, but he's a two year fix at best. If the QB position was all they needed to make them a contender, then I would applaud the move.
As for Culpepper, I was under the impression from what I've read that it was the Dolphins who were pressuring Culpepper to play before he was ready. I could be wrong, but that's what I based my comments on.
But . . . Ted Ginn Jr?? I think they could've addressed their QB situation earlier, and probably still have gotten Ginn later. But I guess it remains to be seen how the moves play out.
rwemersonrw ......... Quinn going to Miami ? Is akin to having another three legged horse being ran in the Kentucky Derby. It serves nno purpose whatsoever for either the jockey or the horse. Quinn is extremely overrated and when called upon to do what was necessary for his team to win against formidable opponents. He just couldn't cut it ! It'd be no better with the Dolphins.
