- Notre Dame should not start the season ranked in the Top 15 next year, much less the top 25.
- Michigan is not #2, or in my opinion, #3, #4 or #5. In fact I am not sure Michigan should be ranked in the Top 10.
- There will never be a playoff system, because it puts larger more established programs at risk.
- I hope that Florida beats Ohio State, because I am so sick and tired about hearing how great the “golden five” are. (Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, USC). Although USC looked pretty damn good!
- How did Troy Smith win the Heisman?
- Since they will never have a playoff system, the NCAA should institute a flex schedule, meaning if you finish the season in the Top25, in the following year you have to schedule at least one out of conference opponent that also finished the previous year in the Top 25.
- I refuse to believe that there is a bias against the SEC. They have a contract with CBS to televise games on Saturday. If anyone has a complaint it has to be teams from the West Coast, which get no love.
- How does Dennis Green keep getting head coaching jobs?
- Maybe Bonds took steroids, maybe he did not, but they have been illegal in baseball since 1990, if you do not believe me, do some research.
- I refuse to believe that a golfer can be athlete of the year. You walk, someone else carries your clubs and you can be considered a “professional” until you die.
- Believe me, the Nintendo Wii is worth every penny.
- Why on earth did the Diamondbacks trade for Randy Johnson, he was washed up when they traded him to the Yankees.
- Why do professional basketball players whine so much?
well anyway I know why Denny Green keeps getting head coaching jobs. He brings the Donuts to the mettings. Anyone that brings Donuts has to get a shot.

#1 Notre Dame will be ranked preseason top 25, but will they end up in the top 25 seems to be the better question
#2 I'm a Michigan fan, and I think we're a top 10 team. We lost to Ohio State and USC. Not horrible losses, those are respectable losses.
#3 I also believe there is no bias against the SEC. I don't know about you, but I'm sick of hearing the SEC is the best. Maybe if Florida wins Monday, I can agree with the SEC being best.
HomersSports,
I agree I do not think that Nascar is a sport. Great comment about Green though.
hoit,
I am sure Michigan will be ranked in the Top 10, but I am just not sure they should be. I also am tired of Hearing that the SEC is the best conference.
I accept that Notre Dame will always receive special treatment and that there will be no college football playoff system. So here's the solution to a national championship that makes everyone happy. Put the top 5 teams into each of the current BCS bowls and have them all play Notre Dame in consecutive weeks. The national champion is the one that wins by the most points. Notre Dame gets a ton of money, the media and bowl organizers all get the Notre Dame following, the other schools don't have to play any additional games, a national champion is picked in a completely fair manner, and there's incentive to really THRASH the "Fighting" Irish. What do you think?
How should Michigan not be in the top 10? They lost to two of the best teams in the country, at those teams' backyards.
Your take on golfers being athletes of the year....First off, if golf was such an easy sport then certainly a guy like LT or Reggie Bush would be just as good as Tiger right? Secondly, as for how old you are and still being a professional, while its true you can be in your deathbed and still be considered a "professional" its not like those guys play on the main tour.
They play on something called the senior circuit. Could you please tell me a senior who actually won the athlete of the year?
My guess is you don't get golfing much and can't appreciate what Tiger does. The guy is a tremendous ATHLETE.
LetsGoBuffalo,
Michigan has lost two games this season, and they were clearly outplayed in both. There “Big Wins” were against Notre Dame which we have seen is clearly overrated, and Wisconsin which was at home. The loss to USC shows that they do not belong in the Top 5. In the BCS Standings, Every team ranked below Michigan won their bowl game. The only team in the top 10 that lost was Oklahoma which was ranked 10th. WVU won there bowl game, should Michigan be ranked higher then them? In the AP poll the story is similar with a little variation. As far as golfing goes, I do golf some, and I know plenty of golfers both professional and amateur. Golfers are not athletes! They might have plenty of skill, but so do craftsmen. Tiger Woods is talented; I never said that he was not. Also I do not where you come up with some of your points; I also never said that golf was easy. Darts are not easy either, but I do not consider that sports participant’s athletes.
If they are called the golden five, maybe year in and year out for the last 4o years most of those teams were always ranked highly, and have a huge campus, schooling academics offered and many graduate. Whether you like the teams or not I think you just want somebody to like your team. Its great thay Nintendo Wii is good. Now I have to buy it. Troy Smith won the Heisman because you could not vote against him. If you think Golfers are not athletes, are NASCAR drivers ? In golf they play with a ball. In Nascar you gotta have balls to race. Doe's this help you.
Marty Walker,
The problem with the “golden five” is that they are ranked highly whether they deserve to be or not. Michigan, Notre Dame and Texas all stunk it up this year. Yet all were ranked in the top 5 at some point. If you look at Troy Smiths stats, any of his stats you would see that there are much better players out there. He was not even the best quarterback in the country. Actually, I could be wrong, but I do not think that he lead in any quarterbacking statistic, I think that he was top 5 in only 2 according to the NCAA statistics. Just because you hit a ball, does not mean you are an athlete. In golf you hit a stationary ball, to a desired location; the same is done in tee ball. Nascar drivers are not athletes either. Driving a car does not make you an athlete. Driving a car in a high pressure situation does not make you an athlete. If it did then all of the NYC taxi cab drivers should be considered athletes.
Or every driver on the German Autobahn, the no speed-limit highways all over Germany. I know what you are talking about and I agree with you mostly. There are teams still being ranked to high, especially those that in the early stages. I can remember if Ohio State was ranked around 7th or so, and then lose a game, then would drop to about 20 or so, in the early stages. In the later stages of the year if you lost you dropped 5 or less spots.
If you have 2 losses, what about those teams, even though they are great teams, what do you do with them. That answer alone might get people who read this and your answer enough reason to destroy our comments because they are right and we don't know anything. there will never be any consistantency in College rankings. As far as the bickering between who's conference is better, I hate all the teams in our conference. Why should I like them, because I hope we destroy that team every year.
