“I don’t wanna work…I wanna #### on the drum all day!”
I’ve got the next 3 weeks off for vacation and JUST in time for some prime-time August baseball. I was away this weekend and noticed that the Yankees-Red Sox smack talk REALLY heated up here at Fox Sports while I was gone. Me-thinks the pressure cooker is just getting warmed up and tempers will soon start a-flarin’. Rather than stoke the flames with words here is some “picturesque” smack talk for your viewing pleasure.
Enjoy…and as an early disclaimer…where the hell is your sense of humor?

rivjo - this is really good. "Groundhog Day" was perfect and the '78 Yankees thing was perfect as well. Great idea and concept. Too creative for me. It's a good thing we have thinker's like you and some others. Good job.

It'd be remiss of me to say that I didn't think the Yankees would make it. But now I'm beginning to wonder if the Sox themselves won't implode ? They've been playing like each of 'em have been propostioned by Ru Paul in the shower and are afraid to pick up the soap. Their bats have become somewhat quiet and the pitching as suspect as one of those novels that made Jackie Collins popular.
If they don't make it into the playoffs then they'll omnly have themselves to blame. And should they do so they're in for a distinct surprise. Two new posts up if you're interested in reading. 365 Days And Counting And It'll Be Here ! Then there's South Of The Border It's Not Just About Illegals Wanting To Head North. Don't read too much into the title of the second piece .
Can hear that? That was Gagne blowing another save. Loved the Horror-able authors. I hate Schilling. That Mo in the last picture says it all about Bahhston. Those chumps.
a little early for this, no? it must be that yankee inferiority complex rearing its ugly head. sad really. sox in 1st. mets in 1st. ha ha ha ha! laughing all the way to the bank baby. roll sox roll!

RIV that's classic, just classic, I love it! But I must warn you my wife that hot SAWX fan that she is told me to give you this message. Yes SAWX women do wear those kind of undergarments but don't fret. There a Yankee fan, she forgets her name, but anyhow there's A-BROAD who lives on 161st and River who wears them all the time. She's a loose but my wife also hears she's a ####!
Great post Riv, really enjoyed it. I'll be gone on a family reunion up in the Sawtooth Mtns if ya need me. Going to do a little trout/bass/and maybe salmon fishing if it's in season. Probably some kayaking. Maybe write a blog or two down. Anyhow have fun with your dellusions bud.
Like I told 1steelerfan1, I can only by SAWX creed have 6, maybe 7, token Yankee Friends. And your a good one. See you Monday
socrates---Ever see Bill and Ted's Excellent adventure? If you did then from now on you are my good friend So--Crates. Classic stuff and you usually have decent "wisdom" for a Sawx fan.
I am glad you liked this and were able to handle the humor in good fun. I actually do technically respect the team and most of their fans. It's like the Hatfields vs. The Mccoys.
Enjoy that reunion. I'm heading out on vacation myself to the heart of Red Sox Nation---Cape Cod. I'll be gone by the time you get back but our paths will cross again by the end of the month.
Broblog---I like to consider you, Steeler and me as a few of the regular Yankees fans/bloggers. (along with a few others) We need to stick together. Seems the rest of the place for the most part is against us.
And by the way Wilson Betemit just went deep to give the Yanks the lead. Since he's been here he's played 3rd, SS and 1B while tagging a few long balls. This guy is pretty good. You can Bet On It with Betamit.
And how about that Chamberlain kid? He throws hot-stinky-cheese. Screw Eric Gag-me.
Riv: Don't look now, but......Perhaps your version 1.0 had better concentrate on taking care of version 2.0, because the Wild Card is awfully tight just now. That 3.5 games back in the AL West is looking better and better as a target every day. Oh, and our Japanese are better than yours, so there, too.
It will surely be interesting to see who perserveres through all of this.
I don't see the Yankees fans as the best.
They're a spoiled bunch who are used to buying the low salary club players.
The Sox fans have suffered forever with one WSeries to show for it all.
It's gonna be a long hot summer.
He11, it's 104 all week here in Tejas.
sleepless---I'm not overlooking your Mariners in the least bit. In fact I am counting on your guys to overtake the Angels and win the division. For whatever reason the Yankees have not done well historically against the Angels in the post-season. Knock the Halos out of the equation altogether please.
As for the Mariners on the other hand...we know how the Yanks handle them...and it's been a long time since Jr.'s dash around the bases in Game 5 of 1995. That was Showalter's fault. You do recall that Buck had some young flamethrower in the bullpen named Rivera but brought in that bum Jack McDowell instead. Otherwise the Mariners would never have beaten the Yanks in the post-season ever.
You are right though. It will be quite interesting to see how this all unfolds. Good luck. I like the Ms best out West.
Husker---I did not mean to mislead you with the heading. I did not mean say that the Yankees fans were the "best". I meant to say the people pictured on the links were "their" best fans (Yanks & Sawx). It was not meant to compare all teams.
I fixed that up though to make it clearer.
You did click on the links to the pictures though I hope? If so I hope you found some of them at least a little bit funny.
riv-I took the time to click on the links. Great stuff, although neither of the "Face of the Franchise" ones showed up. Oh well, that didn't deter from the post. I couldn't help but think about Josh Q earlier today when I heard the Yanks were only four back, since he proclaimed the race over a couple months ago. Guess some people never learn.
Not a fan of either, but since I'm wired to dislike teams that so many like-the Yanks, Notre Dame, the Dallas Cowboys, L.A. Lakers, etc., I must say go Sox.
Great work on the post. I'm a NL guy so you AL's can beat on each other all ya like. It's good to see you finally have something to talk "smack" about. That is if 4 back qualifies. peace
Ricko---Thanks for taking the time to check the links and for the "heads up" regarding the face of the franchise links. I tried to fix the pictures if you'd like to see what was behind curtain #3. Hopefully they work now.
As a Jets fan, Rangers fan and Knicks fan it seems as though I'm always rooting for the underdog. I can't stand those super-powers in sports either. I'm a Yankees fan by birthright and I am sure if I lived elsewhere I might root for the "little" guy too.
Not that I'm complaining or thinking of a switch! Glad you enjoyed the post.
pumpdude---Considering the Yanks were 21-29 on May 29th and 14 1/2 games back I feel that cutting it to a 4 game deficit is smack-alicious.
I can feel the ground moving from all the irritation in Boston. It's pretty much an annual thing. Kind of like the "Old Faithful" of summertime baseball. Their geyser is eventually going to burst.
Good luck with your NL pennant races. Thanks for reading.
rivjo
The pics I found humorous and if nothing else it actually brightened up my day.
As for how the season will now turn out. It's going to bne really interesting going down the final stretch of the season and seeing whether or not the Sox can stave off the Yankees. I don't know that you ever read my piece entitled What We Have Here Is A Failure To Communicate ! (07/20/07)But let me know what you think as to the merits of the piece. Hopefully you'll no doubt find it interesting ?
rivjo
I've also heard that Trinidad is coming out of retirement to fight none other than Roy Jones Jr. They're just now waiting on clarifying the details of everything before announcing the date. Certainly not something
I for one was expecting from Trinidad. And as for Jones this has got to be his last hurrah. He's not the fighter he once was. And time has indeed caught up with him.
RIV,
Great work tonight man... it was great being on Frank's show tonight with you and Josh Q. There definitely was some passionate AL East talk going on there for a while.
I do think your boys are going to hold their own during this tough stretch, and really keep it going as baseball hits its stretch run. This is going to be a real interesting season.
Again... just wanted to say "great job", and really great finally getting to be on a show with you... talk to you soon.
tophat---I do think that ultimately the Red Sox will probably be able to keep the Yanks at bay. The remaining schedule is somewhat more favorable to Boston but as with any game you actually have to win. If both teams make the playoffs it should be as intense as ever if they both win their opening round.
As for Trinidad-Jones Jr., this fight is appealing in name only. They are both past their primes and not legitimate contenders. However that doesn't mean it can't wind up being a good fight and isn't that all that really matters. I do think that Trinidad had been away for too long and is going up too far in weight. I think Roy will win but he better not get caught on that glass jaw of his.
marty---I think that was a blog by ricko titled, "This used to be my playground". I also caught it early this morning and had read it before. It is an older blog of his and should be in his archives. I think it is several months to a year old.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope all is well with you.
Hey rivjo it's about to be 6! lost two games as of this date. Please stay away, YOU ARE THE SAWX LUCKY CHARM! HAHAHAHAHA
Just kidding. I tried to hold you a spot on a contest I'm doing but I forgot you were out of town. I hope you're having fun around all those SAWX fans at the cape.
I hope you're not wearing your YANKEE cap. HAHAHAHA
rivjo
I hope that things are well with you and the family ?
Just chimin' in to see what's up and how things are going. Much as things are the same as the Vick situation is getting more laughable by the minute. He's now trying to dictate the terms of his plea agreement and what he's prepared to allocute to. That whole agreement could now be 'dead in the water' once and for all !
Your Yankees are facing a stiff test of their nerves at the moment. And it'll be dependent upon their stars as to whether or not they'll come out of this winning and with the attitude to do well in the postseason.
Hope to hear from you ? Now another fight has been announced. A matchup of real stalwarts Mayorga vs Vargas and add that in with Jones and Trinidad. It's all about the stars of yesterday.
rivjo
The Vargas fight has now been postponed indefinately as there's a problem concernign Vargas' health. Apparently he's got some sort of iron deficiency that could prove to be real threat to his overall health. As for the Jones Jr Trinidad fight. I doubt that there are any real fans out there willing to put up the sort of money to witness what'll be some sort of travesty on PPV.
The Yanks it'd appear are playing themselves out of the playoff race. But then again you can never tell as anything can happen in this game !
American League East Division
Team W L Pct GB Home Road L10 Strk Elim #
Red Sox 80 51 .611 - 40-23 40-28 7-3 W4 -
Yankees 72 58 .554 7 ½ 41-24 31-34 5-5 L1 25
Rivjo. After tonight it will be 8 GB! Lost 4 games since we've last heard from you. Since you've gone to the Cape you seem to have lit a fire under the SAWX. You have done well as their new good luck charm. From now on we'll call you Lucky Charms. If not for one mistake pitch by Dice-K the Sawx could have been 7-0 on this road trip.
Even though we love you..Please STAY away until AFTER baseball season ends. The rate the Yanks are going they'll be 20 back at seasons end....
Hope you're having fun in the belly of the BoSox

Are the three weeks up yet?
It's time to get a second job, hippie!
Where was I...oh yes, the wild card and it's going to be tight with the West putting up the best fight for the open spot. Take the Mrs. on a vacation during the playoffs.
I'm a special ed teacher by trade. Funny, I spend my day wanting to say shut-up to people and then do the same here. Just can't seem to. That would be rude and most uncivilized.
I like to write and never met a thought I couldn't continue. My blogs, like this bio, tend to be far too long. I can admit it. If you make it to the end of one of my "essays" there's usually a message that could have been written in half the time by a better writer than me.
Did I mention I was a finalist in NGS II? No really I was, further proving that theyll let anyone in this place. I came in 10th, which is better than 16th I guess. Other than winning the 4th grade graduation writing award it was the biggest literary accomplishmen t of my life. I still haven't gotten used to being famous.
