I've only been doing this for a couple months and don't have time to post as often as I'd like. Thanks to the idea by CarolynT a few days ago, and some good response by other respected bloggers-not that I am a respected blogger- - - never mind. I think you know what I'm trying to say. I've limited it to three, and here are my three best. I would like to think that since I don't get to post a lot due to time constraints, they fall under the 'quality over quantity' heading. I'll let you be the judge. Thanks to those of you who take the time to read.
Does anyone know why my last two posts have the 'slider' at the side and bottom which prevent you from viewing the whole body of it without moving from side to side? Don't know what I did differently, but it's frustrating.
ricko - This happens to me when I try to copy stuff over from email or certain websites. It reads to much space to the right somehow. That's probably the least technical explanation you'll ever get to a problem!
Try editing your peice by typing the title to your posts instead of pasting the actual link; highlight it; then use the link tool at the top right of the tool bar. When the box pops up you put the link in the URL line. That will shorten the links but produce the same affect and dress up your post. Take a look at ShooterB's for an example.
Sorry if that isn't clear. I'm not a techno guy myself, just a lot of trial and error. Good luck.
Thanks burger. I'll try to use some of your advice on my next post. As I said, it never happened to me before. Like you said, a lot of trial and error, probably.
Yeah, you have the scrollbars because the links you used are too long.
If you want the scrollbars to go away, use a phrase as your link, such as "Click Here!" if you know HTML or how to use the WYSIWYG editor (which I believe you can use if you use Internet Explorer).
Shooter, album sales are lagging, but I'm more about the content, my growing as an artist, my--oh, who am I trying to kid. I wish I had more attention. Thanks for stopping by. Always a pleasure.
ricko, u cruised by my blog the other day and read my stupid pointless posts about the twins, mets and jays becoming a dynasty. terribly sorry about those they really are bad. i've posted a formal apology, if you care to read it. if not, please accept my sincere apologies.
Good luck with the album sales, ricko. Probably what we all need to boost sales is a Don King-like promoter. ShooterB's Greatest Hits is lagging in sales too...it's even behind the best of N'Sync. Go figure!
Ricko - Are you a Fighting Sioux hockey fan? I am myself, but have to walk the fine line between them and the Gophers. And by the look of your avater, you know all about gophers. Your links may be too big for the width of the body of your blog. (Although, I don't see any scroll bars anymore.) I have found that the width of a normal blog entry is 555 pixels. Not that it means too much, I just trim my pics to that width sometimes.
To make a link, erase the links (or URL's) you have written here, and replace them with just the title of the entries. Then highlight the words by clicking and holding down your left click of your mouse, then click on the make link button on your edit post tool bar. When the pop up window comes up, enter the URL, (or web address) of the page you want to link. It should make a link for you. If you have any questions, give me a shout.
I think the Gophers have UND this year. They are going to be tough to beat!
ricko I think you've got it going on. Needless to say there's no possibility of a Pullitzer at the moment unless you go political. But I've enjoyed each of your posts. Thanks fo given us all the opportunity of sharing in your thought process.
Thanks Shooter. Sidd, yes I am a Fighting Sioux van. Went to school there a couple years before moving to AZ. To this day, UND hockey games, especially against the Gophers and Badgers, were the best sporting events I've ever been to.
Thanks for the feedback, Sidd and Tophat. Greatly appreciated. As for me going political, probably not going to happen. If I ever do, it won't be here. I don't feel it's the right place. Again, thank for stopping by.
ricko I was wondering whether or not you caught the highlights of Weaver's performance against the Yankees. He had their batters totally mesmerized and it was as if they didn't have an idea of what to do.
They can't afford to put together another performance like that with the Red Sox sniffing at their heels so closely.
ricko One thing you can be sure of is that if the Yankees don't the make the playoffs this year. There won't be a rock, stone , brickhouse, outhouse , henhouse, doghouse and ####house where any of the players or senior management within the Yankees' organization can hide. As 'Honest George' will breathing fire and directing his venom at his overpaid and soon to redundant stars. And off course there'll be a few choice words for Cashman and Torre too!
Ricko - I went to UND for awhile myself, till I moved to Colorado. Big Fighting Sioux fan! Your right, some of the best events I have ever been to. What years were you there for? And where were you hanging out? Bonzers was my place. Whitey's too. Not too much to do up there unless you were drunk. Luckily that is one of my favorite past times.
Sidd-I went there from the fall of '81 until the spring of '83. Been to Whitey's many times. Don't remember there being a Bonzer's during that time. Mr. Spud in East GF had buck pitchers every Friday from 1-5. Needless to say, with the drinking age at the time 19 in MN., lots of drunk college kids. Also, a place called Shenanigan's was pretty big then. Lots of good live music, plus they had a pool bar downstairs. I actually tended bar for awhile at a place called the North Dallas Lounge in GF, which was a pretty good sized club that had live country music every night.
Well us UND alum must stick together, and kick it sometime. We can talk about potato factories. Bonzer's was a newer place in DT. (If you can call it that? Downtown.) It was owned by a Sigma Chi alum, so all us Sigs could drink for free. Not much of a frat boy, just had to join so that I could have something to do, I mean drink. I was up there in the mid 90's, before the flood. Haven't been back in so long, I don't think I would recognize it. I still have my Fighting Sioux hockey jersey, that I break out every once and awhile.
I think the Gopher boys are going to be tough this year. They had a solid squad to begin with, and now with the news that Johnson will forgo his first year in the NHL as the first player picked overall, to get to play for the Golden Gophers! I think the number is up to 15 Gopher players have offers from NHL clubs. Go Gophers!
Spent half my life in North Dakota. The other half, so far, in the Valley of the Sun. As a kid, I was always playing, watching, reading, or writing about sports. I lost most of the "playing" along the way, but the rest remains the same. I pledge to refrain from commenting on a blog unless I've read it in its entirety. If I have time, of course.
Carry on.
