The 2008 NFL playoffs
Jan 01, 2008 | 3:51PM | report this

Since my Eagles are out of the playoffs i need a few reasons to tune in at all during the playoffs and I have found a few that intrest me.

The Washington Redskins- With Todd Collins at QB the Redskins have not lost a game. After the tragic death of Shaun Taylor and then falling to 5-7 I thought they were done, and i kind of wish they had been done because if they would have finished 7-9 the Eagles would be in the playoffs. But you can't write what has happened to this team and this will be one of the few times I ever cheer for them.

Vince Young- Everyone expected more from VY this year than he actually put out on the field but the Titans are in the playoffs. I remember watching those two insane performances that Vince had in the Rose Bowl in back to back years at Texas where he just took over. It will be interesting to watch the performance of (in my opinion) someone who will become a superstar in the NFL.

Norv Turner-After the Chargers awful start to the year everyone was asking why the Chargers fired Marty but now Norv can silence all of his previous critics. But what if he loses in the first game, do they fire him like they did to Marty, I doubt it but just something to watch for.

And of course

The Patriots- I really hope they lose. I could not stand seeing them win AGAIN and to go undefeated.

What I want to happen- Redskins and Titans Superbowl with the Titans winning and Vince winning the MVP.

What I think will happen- Patriots and Packers Superbowl with the Patriots winning and Tom Brady winning the MVP...ugh

Great question about Norv. I was thinking the same thing today when I read the Spanos gave A.J. Smith, the GM, a five year extension on his contract.

As for your question of a Titans/Redskins Super Bowl, it's impossible since the Titans will go down in week one (I pray) and VY can't be Super Bowl MVP. He isn't even Tennessee's MVP. If he can't run, they are better off with Collins.

As for Jon's prediction, I can see that happening if the weather is bad. I don't think anyone beats NE in nice weather. Bad weather really hurts their passing game.

THE PATS ARE NOT CONSIDERED A FOOTBALL TEAM IN MY BOOK BECAUSE NOT ONLY DID THEY CHEAT AND FINED FOR IT I CANT BELIEVE THEIR STILL PLAYING FOOTBALL!!!!THAT PRIVILEGE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM THE MINUTE THEY WERE FINED. AND PLAYERS SHOULD HAVE SOME KIND OF SUSPENSION!!!!!

Here it is kids, my prediction for the AFC playoffs, so call your bookies and bet the house, 'cause here's how it's all going down.

Round 1: Jags over Steelers- the Steelers got slapped with key injuries since the last time they played 'em and they'll lose to 'em again. Chargers romp Titans- this ones a no brainer.

Round 2: Pats over Jags in a close one- the Pats throw from behind one last time. Bolts shock Colts- LT shows Bob Sanders exactly why he never made it as a running back, whilst Manning gets abused by San Diego's front seven.

AFC Championship- the Chargers end the Patriots dream season in classic. LT jukes the Pats linebackers and keeps Brady off the field enough to get a lead, and this time the Charger's defense doesn't fumble away the game ending interception.

The San Diego Chargers will win their first Super Bowl against whomever makes it from the NFC, so does it really matter who they play? LT gets MVP.

Jacksonville 31 Cowboys 42.. there's your Super Bowl Score kids. And for all those cowboys haters and T.O. haters. The Cowboys lost Terry Glenn for 15 games and still had a record-setting year offensively. But if Owens is down, it's different. Since he suffered the high ankle sprain against Carolina, the offense has not scored another touchdown, kicking four field goals. Owens makes this offense go and he opens things up for Witten, Patrick Crayton and even the running game. Not only that, I think he gives this team a swagger and jolt of confidence they may not have without him. He's not afraid to put the attention on himself. And while it's easy to criticize him for that, just think how many other players might benefit from that. Before you judge someone for their "look-at-me" approach, just know that it also has a lasting effect in the locker room with his teammates. Owens is definitely the most valuable player on this team and that will be evident next Sunday afternoon at Texas Stadium - whether he plays or not.

mypackers- Quit whining and complaining. Let it go already! The Packers aren't winning it this year, so just let the Pats be. They've already taken on 13 teams, and bested them all! They could beat anyone! They are the absolute best football team in history, so don't be sitting there cryign about how they aren't a football team! Get over it!

Norv Turner will never be a upper tier head coach.
Never .As a an Offensive Coordinator, play caller
yes.Know he won two S.Bowls w/Dallas but don't
forget the material he had on the field..Redskin
fans suffered seven years with him..Never had
any motivation or leadership skills as a head coach..
