Manchester United wins its 10th Premier League title in sixteen years and once again proves their dominance within domestic soccer in the UK. For coach Alex Ferguson it now puts him at extreme heights within the game domestically. He's the most successful coach in all of British soccer. And his accomplishments ought to be lauded. Having been a fan of the game since my birth I've grown up within the UK and saw the likes of Leeds United , Liverpool , Arsenal , Chelsea dominate the scene. But now one has come close to achieving what this sporting behemoth has done within soccer. People may well say that the success of Glasgow Celtic is comparable. But to my mind the soccer in Scotland is nowhere as competitive as it is to its compatriot south of the border.

United proved themselves more than equal to the task in defeating Wigan Athletic to secure the win and guarantee the formality of claiming the Premiere League trophy. After a long and arduous season this was the culmination of it all. The winning of the Premiereship and the chance to say that they're the champions of English soccer. The players themselves will no doubt feel pleased with their accomplishments. And for some it'll be an unprecedented event. Stalwarts like Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs whose service to the club has been a long and tenured one the winning of another trophy won't seem like any of the others that they've already won before. But for them no doubt the taste of victory becomes even sweeter each time it's repeated.

And for all of the success that the team has known it can never become any drearier for the franchise no matter how it is achieved. As to what their dominance tells you about the state of the sport in the country. It suggests that the status quo remains as it always has been. When there's a dominant force within a sport that's when the interest is at its most heightened with regard to the sense of awareness by the fans. United's fans are ravenous they come when it comes to success. There are legions of them across the world and they come in all nationalities.

As a Chelsea fan I for one am hoping that we're able to acquit ourselves well when we come face to face in the finals of the Champions League. Europe's most prestigious club tournament will pit us against Manchester United for the trophy that both teams have won before. And it goes without saying I'm hoping that we'll prove to be victorious in that endeavor. This will not only place the champions of the Premiereship against the runners up but also some might say the the two best club sides in Europe without a doubt. Both teams are ladened with stars that've made themselves known throughout the game. And each in their own way are out to prove that they represent the best that the game has to offer. United's dominance of the game domestically only goes so far. But it's on the international stage where they feel that they can really make their presence felt. Just as it is with any other sport that seeks to gain notoriety internationally.

As I've alluded to before the Champions League final will be a daunting task for Chelsea as a team. United will start off as favorites for the title but it's certainly not an unaccustomed position that we'll find ourselves in. With the style of play that the team is capable of they're more than likely to give United the challenge it seeks. We're not without talented players ourselves and the experience of the team will no doubt bear this out. However if we're at a disadvantage it is from the fact as manager of the team Avram Grant is unaccustomed to the sort of pressure envisaged.

The game itself will bring a vast array of fans worldwide for one of the more spectacular highlights of the European sport's season. That inofitself is bound to bring out the most curious of fans albeit if it will be the first time viewing the spectacle of European soccer at its best. Enjoy the spectacle as it unfolds as it will bring out the very best that the teams will have to offer and a whole more than one is accustomed to seeing.
Just when I'm thinking that things couldn't get any worse for the team in their upcoming clash against a perennial foe. I now find out that Chelsea could be without the services of striker Didier Drogba and midfielder Frank Lampard. Well on Sunday when we're about to meet Manchester Utd. That'll give me all the encouragement that I'll no doubt need to keep down five or six cans of beer that I'll have drank just to keep my wits about me.

It's not as if the team has caught a second wind and has been playing entertaining football as of late. They've been a mere shadow of themselves as of late and it's got many of the fans as well coach Jose Mourinho questioning the will and intent of the players on the field. Far be it for me to suggesst that all of a sudden they've got too big for their boots and just want to get paid rather than playing. A less than exhilerating display against Rosenborg of Sweden in the Champions League where an Andriy Schevechenko equaliser was all that spared us from an embarrassing defeat.

I'm beginning to think that a major shakeup won't be enough but a clear and stern talking to by Mourinho might just do the trick. If not then I don't know what'll do it for this team as they seem to be playing at a rather pedestrian pace. This isn't certainly what's been expected of a Mourinho coached team. They've been usually disciplined and very creative upfront when on the attack. We've not been seeing much sign of that creativity at all.

Europe asides the team's ambitions notwithstanding have to be concentrated on a good showing in the Premiership. The team has to be seen to be playing an entertaining and winning brand of football if nothing else. Inconsistency in their play will only foreshadow of the inevitable . And that'd mean a vast shake up and overhaulling of the squad. Injuries are one thing but when players aren't performing up to their usual level . There's got to be cause for concern for both the coaches and players. And whilst Utd haven't really had to worry about injuries as of yet . With the way they've been palying it's not in any team's best interest to let them run away with the league and become more confident with their ever growing performances. And let's not leave out the Gunners out of the equation. As through their ever resourceful coach Arsene Wenger they 're playing at a much more heightened and entertaining level.

And just as I thought things couldn't get any worse for the team I now find out that Mourinho has left the team all too abruptly. Even if they're indicating that it was by mutual consent. Mutual consent to my mind in many ways meand that there was a differing of opinions as to how the team should be ran. Let's not be naive here because even though might've been a mutual admiration between Mourinho and owner Roman Abramovich. It must be admitted that they coulf barely tolerate each other let alone being in the same room. They're both egotistical and narcissists of the highest caliber. Not always a bad trait to have but when there's two of you in the same proximity. It doesn't always work out to everyone's advantage.

I've no doubt that Avram Grant and Steve Clarke ar more than capable leaders for this team but I do question their resolve of being able to lead this squad in such a tenuous occasion. It's not as iof between the two of them they've got a wealth of experience to fall back on.

With the loss of Mourinho as coach of the team it can be said that this team will indeed struggle but I do believe that the adversity of this experience may well serve them well. At least that's my profound hope if nothing else !

Now it'll be time for the leadership credentials of players like Lampard , Cole , Schevchenko and Lampard to step forward show what theyre indeed made of. For if this team is to survive this sort of an upheaval they've got to prove their worth.

Whilst no doubt many of the fans out there of the other Premiere League teams are probably happy with this outcome. It must be said if their team were in such a position. I sincerely doubt that they'd be overjoyed. As for the many Chelsea fans that are now lamenting this disasterous turn of events myself included. I just can't say what it is that I'm now feeling. Other than to say that in the pit of my gut there's a sense of foreboding and disillusionment at the moment.
