I'M A THINKING AGAIN, BUT I DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHY.
My favorite subject Mikey Waltrip Racing. Have you noticed David Reutimann has placed well in the last few races in NW and CUP ( 4th place in the NW race at Dover)? Mikey usually finishes further back in any race. Can it be he still thinks his number 55 is the speed limit. Perhaps Mikey should change his number to 185, then he can go faster. A better idea would be to give Reutimann his Cup car so it can finish better. I am not saying that Mikey is over the hill mind you but it does present that question.
Is it just me that thinks Denny Hamlin is suffering from Gordonitis ( Habitual whining and every one is supposed to move over when he want to pass.) I thought his comments and actions on last weeks NW race was a bit pompus.
Kyle Busch is every ones golden boy lately. The guy can drive the wheels off a race car literally and dominate some of the race. Don't know what Joe Gibbs, the other car/ truck owners is thinking now with all of Kyle's wrecked and blown up cars and trucks he has been accumulating over the last few weeks. One thing for sure, if he is not winning he is wrecking and blowing up things. Of course I think he is getting a little help from the other drivers with the incidents.
Humpy Wheeler and Burton Smith. The dynamic duo of SMI NASCAR tracks. Well one still is dynamic. Humpy is unemployed now. Seems there was trouble brewing in the ivory tower of SMI and Humpy lost. Burton bought the Ky. Speedway but NASCAR says there will not be a CUP race there in 2009. Wanna bet?
I saw that Scott Speed won the truck race at Dover. An Open Wheeler won a truck race. That is nice. Guess painting your toe nails blue does make a difference. What was with his victory celebration sitting on top of the truck in a thinking pose? And I thought the snow angel thingy was a bit wierd done by another driver when they won.
Joey Logano. The future hot driver in NASCAR came in 6th at the Dover's NW race. Quite an accomplishment for his first race in NW. However, he was not happy with a 6th place finish. Patience my little grass hopper. Patience.
Bill Elliott is in the Dover CUP race and qualified 24th. Did he really qualify that well or did he get it on a provisional again? Bill was one of my favorite drives back then but does he really do himself any favors getting in on a provisional all the time any more? He certainly does not have the equipment to battle with the front runners like back in the day.
David Ragan. Have you noticed this driver has quitely been getting good finishes lately and is with in striking distance for a win soon? Certainly one of the most under rated drivers in NASCAR. Again I say patience my grass hopper. Patience.
Jeff Gordon. I hear Dupont only signed a two year contract with Jeff and HMS as his primary sponsor. Could it be? Or was it because? I ain't telling and neither is Dupont or HMS. Ok. Here is a hint. Jeff has not been having a stellar year yet.
I guess I'm caught cruising through the infield... So bear with me here...
Aren't they racing at Dover? Isn't the Rock Rockingham? Ever see the movie "Groundhog Day"--- "Am I right? Am I right?"
Kyle got knocked around while he was minding his own business on pit lane and then his own teammate got loose and suddenly put his car right into Kyle's ride ending both cars race day late in the race... Neither was Kyle's fault but he paid the price... There's always today's race...
photo....Great thoughts again, but your meds must have kicked in while you were thinking this time. (8^) It was Scott Speed, not Lake who won the truck race.
Kyle just finished 3rd last Sunday for Gibbs in the 600. He WON the 300 NNS race last week in Charlotte in a non-Gibbs car. The trucks he drives are Ballew's not Gibbs, and the last couple of NNS races, he's been in non-Gibbs cars. I doubt Joe is worried too much about the point leader.
photogr, just to let you in on a little rumor: Rumor has it, Gordon plans on cutting back his racing schedule in 2010. Possible even retiring all together. Time will tell. That is the reason being given about the 2 year only extension with DuPont. But who really knows?
Wild Thing Busch won again today in Dover. At the rate this kid is knocking down the wins, he is going to top 12 wins by the time the season is over just in Cup.
For all three divisions this kid could have 12 wins in by the time they get back to Daytona.
It looks like he is going to win every race except when some one takes him out. In a way, this season will be a repeat of 2007 when Johnson was so dominant.. Just a different driver this time.
It also brings a bit of boredom to the race to see Kyle win every week. Wonder why he is so dominant and the other Gibbs drivers are struggling. Could it be he is that better a driver? Or does he have an advantage?
Ahh.Jeff and driving. I think he wants to retire when he wants to. Being on top of his game. Nothing against D.W. and the King. But they drug out past there prime. Maybe Jeff wants to retire and still be winning or contending for a win. He has all my respect and it will be great to watch.
Kyle my new bad boy. I hated Rick got rid ogf him. I still dont like his replacement so I still like the new M..He wins it or breaks trying. He is good.. That pisses alot of people off. Hey the Kid is the real deal. I cant wait to see him and Jeff and the other boys in ELDORA...
That was pretty funny during the truck race, they had the radio transmission for Scott Speed and his crew was calling him toenail. Good gosh do we really need this?
That is ok. Even you need sleep some times. I have heard that if Tony leaves. If Tony stays and Gibbs adds another team with Juan( speedy crash and burn) Montoya. Tony will then probably leave too.
With all the silly season in full swing, it would be a good idea for the GGW drivers to step into the NASCAR Cup bull pen and show them how it is done.
ahhhh, a blog I can comment on because it's not about Dover...which I havent seen the race yet. (Was at the Indycar race on Sunday).
I did see Mikey interviewed on Trackside Live last week in Charlotte. he was a very good interview, and he indicated that he believes that the team is making strides this year to be doing better.
I hadnt seen the truck race, and didnt know about the winner painting his toenails. Sounds kind of wierd...but hey, if that makes him drive better to win, what the heck!
His advantage is that there was no pressure on him to perform so well this season. Gibbs seems to give his new drivers a year or two to get into a rhythm with their teams. (Not that he does, but it just seems that there is no pressure on for the first year or two). And when this is done the driver goes out and out performs.
Smoke did it in 1999 and Denny did it in 2006. And now Kyle.
Whatever Gibbs does to ease the pressure on his new drivers seems to be working.
You talk about Kyle leaving broken cars and trucks behind him yet when I look at the Sprint cup standings he's finished ever race he's run. The same for Truck.
He has DNF'd 4 times in Nationwide out of 14 but put them all together and I think his finishing races compares to almost anyone doesn't it?
Sorry for so late comment, I am way behind and trying to catch up. Not doing so good in that department. Thinking is good as always. I agree with Tsfanpc alittle on Kyle no pressure so he can just race. You know what I think about Jr nation so big on him winning a race so much, he is trying to hard.
Cheers
