OSU Doesn't Stand a Chance*
Dec 05, 2007 | 1:08PM | report this

Now that the bowl match-ups have been decided by people much wiser than anyone who hangs out in here, we might as well talk about the games.

Obviously, I am going to talk about one game. The BCS National Championship Game between THE Ohio State Buckeyes and the Louisiana State Bayou Bengals. Perhaps you have not had to pleasure of reading any of my previous scribble, so I will reiterate that my mother is from Shreveport, LA. Thus, a good portion of my family pays tribute to the Purple & Gold. Amazingly some were even able to graduate from that very school. Growing up in Ohio has warped my mind and the Buckeye Nation swayed me to their side long ago, however I still pull for the Tigers from time to time.

This will not be one of those times.

Let me refresh the listening audience regarding all the reasons OSU will be beaten like an English school- teacher in a Muslim country….

OSU is a team from the Big Ten conference that doesn’t have a single athlete that can run anything faster than a 6.2 forty. LSU, on the other hand, is from the most masterful college football conference of all time…The Ssssss Eeeeeeee Cccccccc (ominous James Earl Jones echo).

Every player in the SEC, including the punters and long snappers, can run a sub 4.5 forty. Ok, forget it, put us in the Holiday Bowl and let The Greatest Team of All Time w/ 2 losses, USC, play LSU for the title. Give the people what they want!!!! Right, %#@& the people, give Pete_Nice what he wants, OSU in the title game.

Ok where was I…oh right… OSU has never beaten an SEC team in a bowl game (O fer 8 y’all!). Well it ain’t happenen this year either. As I mentioned before, their long snapper can out run our fastest guy, so why show up? Well the gumbo and the ####’s are real nice in Nawlins , for one thing. Hopefully the Buckeye receivers and defensive backs can crack 5.0 on their forty times by game day, and might have a chance to make at least three tackles if the LSU players trip or something.

Les Miles will out coach Jim Tressel…..ok, I can’t even say that tongue-in-cheek. Better chance of him coaching the Wolverines next season than out-coaching The Senator. I just swallowed my gum.

The game will be played in Louisiana. Well that sucks. I sure hope at least a couple of hundred Buckeye fans make the trip. Nothing like spending thousands of dollars and travelling hundreds or thousands of miles to watch your team get spanked like a Bill Clinton intern. Thank you sir, may I please have another!!!???

They have already engraved the trophy with LSU’s name and this game is just a formality. Gee, that sounds familiar….

Glenn Dorsey will be healthy again by game day, and he can tackle the entire OSU offense by himself! WOW, now that will be worth the price of admission.

The super-fast, diminutive Trindon Holiday will run so fast, you will hear a sonic BOOM when he returns akick or punt for a touch down. Chris Leak might show up and throw one more TD pass for old times sake too. The LSU offense may never have to see the field.

And the number one reason OSU has no chance of winning the title game this year is….

They lost to Florida last year.

Stay tuned for a more serious blog concerning how crucial this game is for the Buckeyes.

Until then, enjoy the season, enjoy the sports, and enjoy each other.

*The views expressed in this blog do not necessarily represent the views of anyone else, nor do they really mean I think the Buckeyes will lose the NCG. Actually, I am pretty sure they will win. I was pretty sure they would win last year too. I was also pretty sure that K-Fed would go platinum, Britney would graduate from high school, Barry Bonds could read, Howard Stern goes to church, and Don Imus would be the next president of the NAACP. What's the line?

I love the SEC*

*and by love, I mean hate. Nothing personal, I don't like the Pac 10, Big East, Big 12, ACC,or any other conference either. Go Buckeyes, Illini, Hoosiers, Spartans, Wolverines, Badgers and Boilermakers! Big Ten 7-0 in the bowls! (I almost wrote that keeping a straight face)

Pete, masterfully funny blog. Nothing like a lil tounge and cheek huh? I sure hope LSU is not taking these young men lightly. Screw the media and everyone else OSU is pretty damn good and if LSU buys into that #### about the SEC being better well then they deserve to lose. It's not about the SEC vs Big 10. It's LSU and OSU plain and simple. Now who wants it more! Geaux Tigers!!! goodluck Bucks.

Gambit-
That is the truth brother, but most people want to make it OSU v. LSU #1 and Big Ten v. SEC #1a. OSU needs to win this game first, and the conference respect will come. I know people who watch a lot of football and can avoid being bias, know OSU is a good team this year. The situation is ripe for the underdog as usual. LSU won't buy it. If they were undefeated then you might worry a little about buying the hype. More to come on this one...stay tuned.

I might have agreed with you until I watched WV look hapless against Pitt. OSU also didn't have a chance against Miami but won.
The fact they are in the NC game gives them a better chance to win it than all the teams playing in a BCS bowl game except LSU.

Pete, get your act together, go to Lombardis by Scioto Downs and get you a large sundae, and chill. I just wonder how long I watch the game before I put in a season #3 dvd of The Fresh Prince, and laugh the rest of the night.

Lets get together at the Desert Rose in Lancaster.

Pete, I think I wet myself... very funny stuff. The best part about Les Miles, I believe he has a hard time finding his office everyday... "Coach Miles? Yes the tall building right next to the Stadium. Yes, that one."

"No. That’s a round building. We call it the Maravich center. Have you heard of Pistol Pete? No put your gun away back in your briefcase. Pistol Pete. He played basketball."

"Oh, you never heard of basketball. Okay then see the brown building that looks like a phallus? Phallus. No Phallus. ####. That is where your office is."

Coach Can I borrow your brief case?” pulls out gun shoots himself. Les Miles walks into the Maravich center does not see the team and goes home.

Truth is, the big 10 sucks and the country know it (except for the yanks up north that ALWAYS think they are better than everyone else). osu will get spanked AGAIN by the SEC (I'm a Big 12 fan obviously) but the buckeyes couldn't beat anyone in the top half of the SEC or the Big 12.

OSU will keep it close if not win the game. It is no wonder the SEC will do well in bowl games they are all home games for them. Let them come up and play in some weather instead of the country club vacation resorts they claim are colleges. The whole thing is a farce. Hell even poor Illinois is playing an away game compared to USC

Everyone is going to be surprised, when OSU wins this game. I believe that the SEC is the best conference, but LSU is NOT the best team. I believe they are overrated... Les Miles is going to get out coached in this game. SEC needs to come out west and up north to play some teams. I am a Trojan fan and in 08 we start out at VA and then OSU at home. Let's see a team from the SEC do that.

Like most southern folk, you talk about how you hate Northeners cause of something that happened over 140 years ago. The SEC is not the superior conferance, it may be the mentally challenged conferance with students that can't read well, do to the poor public school system in the south. Just because OSU lost last year, and they lost bad. This doesn't give LSU an instant win. I am a Buckeye fan living in AL I watched all of LSU games and they should have lost three games they barely won. They are their own worst enemy most of the time and make alot of mistakes. They are not the best team in the sec (special education conferance) Bring your A game cause the Bucks will be ready for redemption in LSU's backyard. I think we should play in Green Bay WI...............but hell ya all start crying "its cold!!" when its 60 degrees outside.

Thank you, brother. I wish I could buy you a beer. As a Buckeye from Cincinnati, I'm sick of folks who think that this one's over 5 weeks before kickoff. I think LSU is going to come hard at us with all they've got, and they're a fantastic team. However, people act as if we've never won any games, never played great, have no athletes, basically everything that's lampooned in this blog. The true fans in the North respect the game, respect the opponent, and look for the same respect back. Everything we've done in the last 6 years (quite a bit of winning) was stained by one damn game, and it's basically the only one we've failed to show up for during that span. All the others, even if we didn't win, we at least made the opponent earn it all. And that's what I expect on the 7th. If Ohio State wins, people better kill this myth. If LSU wins, we'll make then earn every bit, and shake their hands after the game. Then we'll all enjoy beautiful New Orleans, which I have been fortunate enough to experience personally. So GO BUCKS!!!! And good luck Tigers!

Graham Harrell, QB, Texas Tech, has most attempts (644), completions (468), yards (5298), TDs (45), the highest completion % (72.7) in nation and had QB rating on 160.49. Completed 131 more passes for over 1100 more yards, 7 more TDs and although threw the ball 172 more times than Brennan had the same amount of interceptions. (1 INT every 46 passes). Yards per attempt almost identical at 8.23 yards. Set NCAA record with (10) 400 yard passing games (400+ against Oklahoma ranked #4)....

Brennan was 337-472 for ONLY 4,174 yards with 38TDs and 14INTs (1 INT every 33.71 passes) with Yards per attempt at 8.84.

Texas Tech had MORE team rushing yards (they ran more than Hawaii), played in Big 12 against 6 bowl teams, beat the #4 team in country and played teams with a combined record of 68-77 (.470).

Hawaii had only 581 rushing yards, beat only 1 team in Top 25 and the total record of their opponents was 53-92 (.366) (only 3 bowl teams). Played powerhouse teams like Idaho, Utah State, UNLV, and Northern Colorado (with a combined record of 6-42!!). AND BRENNAN THREW 5 INTERCEPTIONS AGAINST 1-11 IDAHO!!!!

Offenses are identical to Missouri and Kansas. So it is not just a "system."

Show me where he Brennan is better!??!!

Direct quote of the year: Bob Griese, CFA analyst, "Graham Harrell's statisitics are too good to win the Heisman." WHAT??!!!!!

OSU doesn't stand a chance-Trev Alberts 2003 or this post?

Last year Florida was supposed to lose...and OSU couldn't defend the spread nor could they get untracked particularly without Ted Ginn (he runs a 4.2 and Anthony Gonzalez ran a 4.3 40 by the way).

I don't know who's gonna win or who's gonna get crushed. I just know that all the sackless wonders that are making predictions now won't be anywhere near a computer to own up to it if they're wrong later.

LSU has homefield advantage and are supposed to be the best and so is the SEC. They lose and I guess the SEC is horrible then right?

Where will all the bold prognosticators be after the game? I guess it depends on if they were wrong or right...I kind of like the idea of seeing a team who refuses to stop the run playing a team that likes to. I kind of wish OSU would start a different QB as the back up is quicker with a better arm...allegedly the starter makes better decisions...I see no evidence of that.

I challenge all the bold prognosticators to stand up and be counted later....I don't know what will happen...but I've got tickets, a room, and a flight.

I do believe faster than ANY LSU LB's. Dorsey so overrated its not funny...all I keep hearing is his name, yet when I watch him he does nothing!!! I dont wanna hear the line "he gets double teamed blah blah blah" Warren Sapp was a beast and when he was gettin double he still caused pressure or got 1 of his 27 lifetime sacks...alot nmore than dorsey!!! And keep sleepin on Vernon "the freak" gholston....biggest arms in america...at 6'4 270 runs a 4.58 40...got 3 sacks on Jake Long who had NEVER i repeat NEVER given up 1 in his college career....LSU is gettin a whoopin, folks Tressel will coach circles around Les Biles who he already squashed 4 years ago at the Alamo bowl!!! Tressel runs the score up to make a point...OSU 34...LSY 17!!

ya man i get what your saying. but didnt people also think that a USC team who was a 41 point favorite woud pummel Stanford. and that LSU would beat both Kentucky and Are-Kansas. And if i remember right.....didnt those same people say that Missouri had a chance against OU....and that West Virgina was a lock for the NC game only to lose to a Pitt team thats now 6-7. all im sayin dude is dont count your eggs before theyve hatched. i mean if the season has been any kind of a teacher then you should have learned that the only shure thing is that both teams will be there. who chooses to step up and play is completly up to the teams. LSU even tho i really really really dont like the head coach (it goes way back to when he coached Okie Lite) there a good football team. but if they make dumb calls like in the Kentucky and Arkansas game then Ohio St. might have a shot at it.

first of all all you people who think LSU will run over OSU and vice- versa are killing me with these jokes. You guys are all talking out the side of your necks. Nobody has a clue what will happen. Both programs have very talented players who will come out and do whatever it takes to help the team win period. Smack talk is one thing but let's be honest some of you actually believe the garbage that comes out your mouths. puh-leeeeze!

Bobcat04, I have much respect for OSU and what they have been able to accomplish over the years. With that said I know better than to think either team will just lay down and take a whooping. Both teams are hungry to prove something and I expect a very evenly matched game and just hope the Tigers come out on top. If the Bucks win then my hat will be tipped to a great team and wonderful game day coach.

P.S. Some of you are on here spewing venom at Pete. This is all "tounge in cheek" guys. Meant to be funny not taking serious. this guy is as big a buckeye fan as any of you. get a grip people! some people are just amazingly crazy lmfao!!!

In my heart I feel that the Tigers will overwhelm the Bucks and the SEC defensive player of the year will shine. But, as crazy as this football season has been. I am not putting this game in the W column until the final whistle blows on 7 Jan 2008. We have beaten teams this year that I felt that we wouldnt beat and lost to teams that I felt we shouldnt beaten. All I can say is GEAUX TIGERS. Besides where does it say a win has to be more than 1 point or does a large win count more. How big of scored did OSU have vs Akron, Minn, NW, Kent St, Youngstown St, Columbus Night School, Toledo Wayward Girls School, Cincinnati School of the Deaf, etc? GEAUX TIGERS!! JUST WIN!! What a #### article, Pete. More SEC-conference-blather and Big 10 bashing that is becoming old hat. So-called experts running around playing up 2-loss teams like they're the equivalent of some undefeated, super team. All this superfluous chatter about speed and not one of these so-called experts really knows which is the faster team. Besides, it's a football game--not a track meet. Do you ever hear the pros harping about how much speed matters when a good defensive teams suits up against the likes of the Patriots or Colts? LSU is just another over-hyped team from the SEC just like USC from the PAC 10. It's the media that puts these teams up in the pre-season and then they are put to shame as the season unravels while they watch in dismay as the CAL's, the Florida's, and the other pretenders crumble and stumble along the way (while fattening up on patsies just like--oops, Ohio State!)but mind you--barely dropping in the polls until they've lost maybe 3 or 4 games. Just plain, unfounded, media bias similar to comments I read in the daily blogs and articles espousing the supposed inferiority of Ohio State and the Big Ten. As for me, I'd rather wait until January 7th when OSU & LSU decide the issue on the playing field. Until then: yap and yap away boys and girls about who should really be playing in the BCS championship, or how OSU doesn't belong, etc.
