Perhaps, I should say in this post, that I am thankful for a larger

following on my Blog.  Jeff Gordon is the best driver in Nascar, I

think he will exceed, Dale Sr. and beat every record he ever set.

Dale Jr. will probably fade like Kyle petty, and jaun, should just

race on the dirt track somewhere,  I really think they should bring

two races back to Darlington, and scrap California Speedway.  I

mean nascar was born in the south.  Let's keep push for faster

leaner cars, I mean American cars, how many of YOU own a

import?  I drive and own 2 chevrolet cars, which is why i consider

what i have to say important.  I am not a troll as some of you guys

have suggested.  I just think everyone has a right to speak.  That is

what this country is about.  Perhaps we should examine a lot in this

country.

California Speedway should be scrapped because the racing is boring there. Not because NASCAR is a southern sport. I am a JG fan but I think you are trying to incite the Dale Sr and Dale Jr fans. Dale Sr has 7 championships. Jeff Gordon has 4. As we have seen the last few years it will hard for Jeff G to get to 7.

Oristo:

I own two cars ( Korean) that are manufactured in Alabama and an Air Stream motor coach with a Cummings diesel engine My other car is a 70 Hemi Cuda re manufactured by me. It seems Fords and Chevys are mostly manufactured in Canada or Mexico now so what does the difference make any more?

Ford = About 80% manufatured in Mexico

Chevy = About 70% manufatured in Canada

Toyota = over 80% manufatured here in the good ole Southeastern US!

Out of the cars I have owned in my lifetime, I've had 3 GM, 3 Fords, 2 Hondas, 5 Volkswagens, and 1 Toyota.

Repairs:

Chevys = 3 Rack and Pinions (2 cars), 3 Trannys (both trucks), countless Alternators (all cars had more than 1 alternator failure), starters (all vehicles had starter failures at least once), more thermostats than I care to even think about. And 2 total engine failures (1 truck, 1 car).

Keep in mine at the time I owned 90% of these vehicles they were well under 100k miles. The only cars I have ever owned with over 80k miles on them were my Volkswagens, and one of the hondas had 120k miles, the other honda had 72k when I bought it. Have never owned a VW with less than 75k on it the Toyota tundra was new in 2001.

Keep in mind, my Z-71 was new when I purchased it, as was my Grand Am, these vehicles were junk, as was the used S-10 I bough with 30k miles on it. But the S-10 is in the junkyard, and likely the other two are also, if not they are someone elses problem.

Fords = 1 engine failure (broken valve spring), and 2 alternators. (still have 2 of them 67 Ford, and 83 diesel dually flatbed)

Hondas = 1 thermostat. (wrecked one, sold the other to a friend)

Volkswagens = 1 thermostat, 1 radiator (leak started after the thermostat went out). Most Have been traded in for other VWs over time. Currently own 2002 GTI VR6, and an 84 rabbit 16v turbo. Can get in either car and feel confident

The only thing making Ford and GM American is the name. My purchases in the truck dept will be Toyota, because it's a superior vehicle in every way to its "American" competition. And in doing so I also support more Americans than I would be if I purchased one of the others.

I will continue to buy VWs because for some reason I've had nothing but great Volkswagens, I love the cars, they fit me perfectly, and I just love the cars. I'll keep the Ford farm trucks till they go to the junkyard.

I own a dodge, made in Mexico. And as far as leaving Calif, us west coasters love racing too. We need somewhere close to watch a race.

Yes Gordon is the best driver currently in NASCAR, but we have yet to know whether he can do it without the best equipment. He will some day pass Dale Sr in a lot of things, but he will never replace his place in history.

I disagree that Jr will fade away. He's a fierce cometitor and great driver, and with consistent equipment that he will now have at Hendricks, 08 could be a major turning point in his career.

As for NASCAR, it was born on a beach. Cali has plenty of those, so they have just as much right to enjoy it as we do in the South.

As for what cars are the best, None of them.
I restore cars for a living and own 30 including 10+diff manufacturers. They all have their issues an their strengths. Nothing made today is far above any other manufacturer. You get what you pay for.

I wholeheartedly agree that NASCAR should lose California Speedway. Give the Labor Day Weekend race back to Darlington and revive the Southern 500.

As for cars, my personal car is a Saturn SL-1 and work car is a Ford Taurus.

Overall, very interesting topic and one that will get a lot of people thinking.
