NFL Weak 6 Postdictions
Oct 14, 2007 | 8:34PM | report this

The Texans looked good early, but ended up getting fooled, schooled and ruled by Jacksonville to the tune of 37-17. This was a division game. Speaking of divisions, the AFC South has to be the most competitive division in the NFL. Houston is at the bottom with a 3-3 record. That would be good enough for first place in the AFC West, and the AFC South is the only division that does not have a team with a record under.500.

Vinny Testaverde, he of the Geritol patch and AARP membership, quarterbacked the Carolina Panthers to a win against the Arizona Cardinals today. I didn’t see the game, but it must have been interesting to see the Panthers’ offensive line keep their blocks without knocking over Testaverde’s walker.

As I type this the Seahawks and Saints are playing on NBC’s Football Night In America’s Sunday Night Football. Before the game, Seahawks fullback Mack Strong raised the figurative 12th man flag (a feature totally jacked from my Texas A&M Aggies, by the way) to cheers of the fans. Strong has had to retire this week after a 15 (I think it’s fifteen) year career. Strong has been a fan favorite in Seattle his whole career. One of the coolest things about Strong is his name. Isn’t “Mack Strong” the perfect name for a football player? Or maybe a private eye?

The Coors Light commercials where they show goofs asking questions at a mock press conference that are answered by edited shots of former NFL coaches have been running all night on NBC. At first they were kind of funny, now they just suck out loud. I wish the MLB playoffs were on.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the Patriots dismantling of the Dallas Cowboys earlier today. New England beat Dallas 48-27. I don’t have anything of value to say, I just don’t like being remiss.

Tony Gonzalez of the Kansas City Chiefs set the record today for most TD catches by a tight end in NFL history. The CBS pre-game show gang, specifically Boomer Esiason and Dan Marino were joking with their cohort Shannon Sharpe about him possibly being sad because he held the record that Gonzalez broke. I get sad every time I watch the CBS pre-game show, because Sharpe is so hard to understand. He should look into English as a second language.

The Atlanta Falcons play the New York Giants on Monday Night Football tomorrow night. I have nothing to say about that game, but I was planning on a trip to New York next year, but I would have to get the wicks on my tiki torches trimmed. I cancelled my trip when I called New York and they told there wasn’t a Tiki Barber anywhere in New York.

Thanks for reading.

Well, if I'd done more research I would know that the MLB playoffs are on. Colorado beat Arizona to go up 3-0 in the series.

Veerrry nice post. I must admit your title caught my eye-Weak 6 Postdictions, I love it-and the body didn't disappoint. Glad you weren't remiss. We wouldn't want that.

Nice job.

I happen to love those Coors Light commercials. The one where they ask Parcells to change his name to big Coors Light cracks me up every time.

OSL, good post. If the Texans were in the NFC West, they'd be in the playoffs this season. Seattle sucks, Arizona sucks, SF blows, and the Lambs are Lamb Chops. The Texans would be at least 10-6 in the NFC West. I suggest that Seattle and Houston trade divisions.

The calls on Dallas holding were a joke and pass interference was wrong I gues you can't beat a team that cheats and the ref's too.

Funny stuff about Shannon Sharpe. He looks like a horse and speaks worse English than Mr. Ed. Maybe it would serve him better to just be like Silent Bob. He should just write stuff down and hold up the sign.

I agree with you on some of the hold calls complete c.r a p. That being said, The Pats looked un-beatable. I am a lifelong Steeler fan so it pains me to give the Pats any type of props but man they look tough. When Dallas went up by four I thought that they might break the game open but the Pats seemed to be on auto pilot. They will lose this year, everyone has a bad game from time to time. Taking nothing away from the Steelers and Colts who I think are the only teams who can beat them. But the road to the Superbowl on the AFC side will probably go through New England. And probably Dallas on the NFC side.
Go Steelers!!!

I agree that the Coors commercials are getting old at best.

I kinda like the coors commercials. I hope they use footage from the fired Athletic Directer from Nebraska to make a rebuttle commercial from another brand.

"Hey Pedy, what do you think of the special ingredients in Coors light?"

"We will never settle for mediocrity. Honesty and integrity will never be lost"

Cut to camera showing Pederson drinking competitions beer under the table...

Fun title. Nice, succinct recap. Bravo. Bad Tiki Barber joke. lol

I like the newer Coors commercial with Dennis Green- the other ones are getting old.

Its true that all the AFC south teams are in the Top 10 of NFL right now. I thought that wasn't supposed to happen! How do teams who look good on paper end up being such a disaster on the field? Switch the Texans with the Cardinals (hey if the Rams can be West, why not Housten?) so they can make it to the playoffs already.

Testaverde looked good. Still has a great arm.

ChiTown- Those commercials aren't bad, just overplayed in my opinion. Thanks for the comment.

Jon- Yeah, it's really tough being a cellar dwellar teams fan when your in last place at .500.
Hopefully, we'll pick things up in the next 10 games.

Greg- I didn't play close attention to the calls. I'm not a fan of either team and had the game on, well, because it's football, and that's what I do.

Fase- Sharpe is very difficult, for me at least, to understand. I think he needs to slow down and think before he speaks.

LeeJr- Thanks for the comment. They are definitely beatable, even the best teams are, but they have so many weapons (illegal or not) and Brady never seems to get rattled.

Kegster- Thanks for the comment.

Dank1- They're not bad, just overplayed, in my opinion.

2CoastsGal- Thanks for commenting. The Tiki Barber joke was a reach I know.

Dudski- Didn't see the game, but I have really always liked Testaverde, and your right, he has a very strong arm. Thanks for the comment.
