Let Vick Play
Aug 14, 2007 | 3:45PM | report this

It seems as if Michael Vick's NFL career is over, but why? Most people are refusing to acknowledge the fact that these are allegations. In this country you are innocent until proven guilty, however Vick is bieng portrayed as the criminal that he may or may not be.

Even if these allegations are true and Vick is guilty it is not a big enough reason for him to go to jail or lose his NFL career. Maybe this is not politically corrert to say, but whatever. People are too fond of animals because they are cute or whatever. People over react becaue it is a dog. It is a dog!!!! Is it a crime? yes. Is it disgusting and morally wrong? yes. I understand this, but when Tank Johnson was arrested for aggravated assault and gun possession there was no outcry of this magnitude. People love thier animals, but with gun possession Tank Johnson could have killed a human bieng. People are calling for Vick's head for hurting a dog, yet noone seemed to care when Johnson assault charges were pressed. Another thing to consider is that Johnson was guilty, Vick is alledged of crimes. Why is society trying to kick a guy out of the NFL who possibly hurt some dogs, yet we don't care about a guy who has been convicted of assult?

Ray Lewis has been charged with murder previously in his life, Jamal Lewis has been arrested for possession of marijuana. There are drug dealers and murderers in the NFL, but noone seems to care.

So maybe if he returned to the Falcons Vick would be a distraction, but that is only because of all of you. If the public had not made such a big deal of everything Vick would be able to play. Don't get me wrong I do not condone Vick's actions and he has made some stupid decisions in his life. I just think people need to get thier priorties straight and realize that he hurt dogs, while there are people out there hurting thier wives and other people, but we just let it go.

The final thing bothering me is that PETA has become so involved. They are selling anti-Vick t-shirts and are urging people to write letters to NFL commissioner urging for Vick's suspension. This bothers me because, "Earlier this year, two PETA employees faced charges in North Carolina stemming from their illegal euthanization of dogs and cats in that state, and the dumping of animal carcasses in a grocery store dumpster." Yet these are the people saying that Vick is wrong? Are you kidding me?

Promote animal rights stand up for it, good for you. Don't go kill animals and and leave the carcasses at a grocery store and then go say hurting animals is bad. Vick at least kept it at his house and didn't make it a public display.

Everyone should let the Vick saga play out in court and not worry about it until that is finished. He should be allowed to go on with his life.

OakFan, if you want to see why your argument doesn't hold water, read my post here.

Also, only a small fraction of the people outraged by this case are supporters of the quasi-terrorist organization PETA.

Understand that PETA is an anti-pet owner organization. PETA and the Humane Society are mortal enemies. Throwing out PETA is a red herring on your part.

I just want to know why Vick has already been convicted in the eyes of the public? Why isn't he given a chance like everyone else?

IF YOU WILL FIGHT DOGS, YOU WILL PUT PEOPLE INTO A RING TO FIGHY UNTIL THEY ARE KILLED. VICK IS INHUMAN AND I CANNOT THINK OF ANY PUNISHMENT TO HARSH.

Read my blog below, I know I don't come across as being politically correct at times, but I only call it as I see it.

A's fan- I think you miss the point. The difference between killing dogs and packing heat is that society views dogs as less than defenseless against humans because of the trust factor that dogs have for humans. While I agree it is somewhat bizarre we tend to think that at least humans can defend themselves to some degree, plus no one was actually shot or injured by Tank. Vick deserves to have his career ended for being stupid if nothing else.

You mean to tell me people have the nerve to protest a person for fighting dogs when we have so many other more important issues to protest in this country!!! To anyone giving this whole issue any energy to protest i say you suck as a member of the human race. we are talking about animals!!!! we still have issues to protest concerning human rights and poverty. wake up people!!!! i guess all the human issues are totally solved in this country if people have time to focus on the rights of an animal.

"Practice? We talking about practice! Not even a game, but practice." Doesn't matter though, he has until Friday to plea out and then, "here comes the judge."

Allegations?

It was reported last night that Michael Vick is discussing his options with his Attorney about pleading guilty to the ALLEGATIONS. It seems that the prosecution has disclosed it's mountain of evidence on Vick's involvement. Not only did Vick know about the dog's, the dog fighting, and the ring of characters...Apparently Mike Vick was THE MAN. So the ALLEGATIONS of innocence were mere wishful thinking.

Vick will go to prison for at least 6 months and possibly as much as 18 months.

Let me try it this way for some of you who are just a bit slow.

Joey "Bones" Bonano of North Jersey is picked up for running numbers in the tri-state area. He gets 2 to 5 for illegal gambling operations. Any of you got a problem with that? Didn't think so.

Mike "Mexico" Vick gets picked up for running dog fights in the Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia area. He gets 2 to 5 for illegal gambling operations. Got it? Getting through to you yet?

The dog lovers are just grist for the mill. He's going down for the gambling and a bit more for the dogs.

Here endith the lesson....

While I agree that we live in a country that allows an individual to go through a "Due Process", I am appauled at your lack of compassion...if Vic is found guilty during a trial or if he plea bargins (an admission of one's guilt) then I think that he should never be able to have the luxury of playing in the NFL again. I am not an animal activist nor consider myself a fanatic....just someone with common sense-- I am sorry (based only on what you have posted) that you view Vic and his Associates allegid behavior acceptable.
