As I sit here in the Midwest in my well warmed home ( which the heating bill will probably cost more than the price of a pair of tickets at a NASCAR race) and the temperature is hovering at 10 degrees, I have realized that I have cabin fever affliction NASCAR style.
You know you got it when:
You look out the frosted window and think only 2 weeks to go before the DAYTONA 500.
You start to think that the clocks are running backwards.
You explode when the better half suggest to you to take out the trash.
You get up on a Sunday morning thinking got to get ready for the races only to realize there is none.
You dig out the old recorded races on your dvds and watch them all day long as the snow piles up on your RV.
You drive by the closed race tracks in your area and wished they had a snow ball derby today.
You have a blank stare when watching TV and are thinking about racing.
You see total strangers with their favorite driver jacket on and you have to go over and start a conversation with them.
You hear the word NASCAR and immediately your heart starts to race.
You spend the entire trip to the mall at the NASCAR store watching past races on the TV while your better half shops till they drop.
You drive on the highway and think aero push when passing 18 wheelers.
You never start the projects you planed to do during the off season.
You are trying to be intimate with your better half and you are thinking Taledega.
You babble a lot on Fox blogs about the new season up comming.
You constantly check the mail box for your Daytona tickets you ordered the day before.
You envy Southern Cindi living so close to Daytona.
You get violent with people that say racing is not a sport.
You want to bump draft slow drivers on the highways in front of you.
You start telling Jeff Foxworthy jokes about NASCAR to your self and think they are funny.
Well these are a few of the symptoms but I am sure there are more that can be listed given time. Got any symptoms???
I have ex relatives from first marriage who live in the midwest. they were once telling us how cheaply they live compared to California. I asked what is your monthly heating bill in the snow months. Oh between 300-400.00 a month? Oh really? Well food might be higher out here but I pay about 40.00 for gas, water trash and bout 70 for electricity in a two story house.
nphotogr ......Here's hoping that if you're going to be in attendance at Daytona for the big race. You enjoy yourself along with those in attendance with you. I can only attest to being at F1 races in my life. But once there it's such an adrenaline rush you couldn't want for anything more. That being said the expense of it all can be so harrowing. But the memories that you take away from attending such an even will last you a lifetime and more ! Especially if you've got the souvenirs to go along with the experience. Pictures, autographs and the customary model of your favorite driver's vehicle. Anyway if you're going I do hope that you have great deal of fun but do stay away from the female groupies ! Just kidding !

Sounds like you do have advantages in California as far as utilities. Was only out there once and loved it on the beaches. Sooo many gorgeous gals out there. However at my age, I could not keep up with them. Too fast..
Ramp:
Indy, Formula 1 , and NASCAR. The sounds of the engines are different but when they drop the green flag, the rush and the roar you experience is un fathomable ( spell check?).It is better than being at a massage parlor.
The sounds get right down to the core of your being, all your senses are in high gear, your pulse rate exceeds that of the sound barrier, and you are on a high that you never wish to come down from.
After the race and all the crowds have left, you are standing near the pits motionless and a quiet never heard before premates the area. A tear is shed for the passing of an exilirating experience that day.
You turn around and with the memories of the sounds, crowds, fuel smell, and smoke of the day you head back home looking forward to the next time you get your race fix.
nphotogr ..... That is so true as I can remember the numerous times that I'd been in attendance at a F1 race and was completely blown away by it all ! The whole experience as you've said can be so awe inspiring. Needless to say for the drivers involved it must be a considerable adrenaline rush throughout the race. I for one don't know whether or not I'd be physically able to endure such an occurence.
As it must be completely debilitating and a strain on one's body mentally as well physically.
That's why they are the drivers and we're just the fans in all of this and we'll always show our appreciation on that front by acknowledging their bravery.
I been to F-1 races, to CART road races and to NASCAR. Obviously from a spectator viewpoint NASCAR allows you to see virtually all of the racetrack with some small gaps. I will say this though. When Formula One raced the streets of Long Beach even with the best spot you only saw a small part of the track but we quickly learned by the second or third year where the most likely passing spots were and camped out there through 10 years of F-1 and another 10 oc CART and those F-1 cars are AWESOME when they stand on it and raise those cars up. WOAH!!!
The Return Of ..... That's what I'm talking about when it comes to F1. You can't beat it for the sheer spectacle and it also helps that there's a fair bit of eye candy on display. That also what was attrated me to the sport no doubt ! Those females are hot, hot, hot !
But also the style and pace of the racing was and still is awesome !
Hot fast cars, hot fast women, hot fast times abound at any track.Just have to keep up with the fast part. Wear a racing uniform and you have to peel the women off you.Always had to be sure I saved some energy for the race. Those were the good old days of my youth.
Never got a chance to race in Formula 1 or Indy classes but I am sure it is a rush of astronomical proportions. I know the classes I ran in were quite a rush.

Well, I just got a Dodge Charger in June, Ohhhhh and it's gotta a HEMI oooohhhhh will it fly!!! My NASCAR FEVER is on fire!!!! My symptoms are KASEY KAHNE WITHDRAWS, HE'S SO HOT! (yes I'm female) Got to see him win at Lowe's Motor Speedway 10/14/06.
My husband doesn't go to races with me, it's a good thing, he'd be too embarassed to sit with me. I tell him if you cain't hear it, feel it, smell it, live it, then you ain't got it.
nphotogr ....... There seems to be something about a guy in a jumpsuit behind the wheel of a super fast car that seems to drive the women wild.
No matter what the discipline, be it NASCAR, IRL or F1. They just seem to show up in droves at all the major venues come rain or shine. Not that I find it a problem mind you , as I think that it's great ! If I'm one of those drivers I'd be bound to take advantage of the situation of having my cake and eating it !
You are quite a lucky lady to have one of those rare gems. Do you have the 426 Hemi??
I have a 70 Hemi Cuda with the 426 Hemi that I bought in the early 80's in Arizona, restored it and put it in a temperature controled storage building for use when we get down to Fla. for vacation.
There are some problems owning it though. Every time I drive it, it attracts Smokey bears like honey bees to honey, every young gun in a Mustang wants to race me, every auto nut wants to touch it, and never passes a gas station with out a fill up. But it does do 12.40's in the quarter mile on street tires ( fat ones) still.
Dusty:
What is a slow hand blog award??? I am afraid to look for that one.
Ramp:
What flavor of cake do you want?? German Chocolate? Angel Food,Chocolate Chip? Carrott? or Pineapple? I am sure the ladies will be happy to serve up any flavor you want.Got to remember though, Not a good idea to race a car on a full stomach. Ha Ha...
You better watch it ram. this is Dusty and my wife was a budweiser girl a year or two few years back. Just keep your eyes front, ok? LOL. TWO NEW BLOGS UP GUYS
Personally I'd like to see the girls from GoDaddy.com get involved with their ads being part of the NASCAR media coverage. But yhey only seem likely to have those around the Superbowl schedule. Which to some may not seem fair but it's just the price one has to pay for a little bit of fun. That being said I do hope that there's a change of heart and we do see the girls of GoDaddy.com once again either during the Superbowl or during the Daytona 500 race, in a couple of weeks. What do you guys think about that ? And remember be honest with your thoughts !

to nphotogr, It's the R/T 340 horse power 390lb ft torque. It' not as fast the SR/T8, but I'm not complaining!! Had a chance to run it around LMS, WOW!

Sounds like you had a ball with that run. The one thing I liked about the Mopar muscle cars is that they had light bodies and were fast with any size V-8 engine. I had seen many 383 and 440 C.I.( non Hemi) Chargers and Cudas that could run the 11's with slicks. Was always a treat to watch them launch at the tree with the distinctive coil up of the rear springs then take off like a rocket.
I found the site But what stood out was the cute blond at the end with a fantastic set of "ABS".
I do feel honored with your suggestion I am all heart but I think Cindi has me beat hands down in that department. Hope she does beat the Cancer.
Ramp:
The girls at godaddy.com??? What girls ??? You rattling my chains???? If there is going to be any girls, I would think the ones from the show that is on cable or satellite TV " Girls Next Door" would be a better choice. If you have never seen the show I will explain it for you. Quite a cute bunch of bunnies.

Ramp is the kind of guy I was when I was young. He'll follow sports, he follow them all. But he only does it to get next to Hotties. Everything he knows he learned when there wasn't a hottie in a mini skrt and tank top standing next to him.
Photog? What is the matter with you? You're supposed to leave a message on theSlowhand blog for you and Southern Cindi since she can't be here. Why would you find it and not sign in? People want to read what you have to say.
Dusty Outlaw...... You know I've had my lot with the hotties as such. I now prefer the monogamous relationship. Having been through a divorce and all the #### that went with it. I now prefer just to co habitate as they say and see how things work out along the way.
That being said it doesn't stop me from looking to see what's in the shop window now and again as it's a way of tempering those feelings. As far as the sports are concerned I won't hide the fact that I'm a studious follwer of most sports to a certain degree just like the rest of the contributors to this forum.
But I do know when I think it's time to draw the line between enjoyment and living through my favorite sports personality vicariously.
nphotogr ...... Check out the piece that I've written under the guise of tophatal entitled 'Can I Get Fries With That ?.'
As it deals with some of the Superbowl ads of the past and where they stand in the lexicon of American culture. Let me know what you think ?
As always I'll be looking forward to your comments.........regards !
Great choices, How did you know I have been talking to 3 year olds about NASCAR. Wondered why adults had been running the other way lately when they see me.. Boy!! I must have it bad.
Dusty ( man with more names than Carter's got liver pills):
I posted on the awards blog.. I tried to be respectable. I will be posting a new avitar soon to keep up with you.. Recently had my final plastic surgery operation so I will post my new look.
Ramp:
I will check out your blog. On the hotties at the track. Yep.. There are cheaper by the dozen but on a rare occasion, one will stand out and pull you in hook line and sinker, convince you they are the chosen one, and have you hog tied for life. That is how I met my wife for life. Still hooked after all these years.
Oustanding that you found us Photog and while I have nothing but the greatest respect and prayers for Cindi, You yourself sir are a pretty special person I've come to find out.
Hahaha Top. You can fool some but I know you cause you're me 30 years ago. I'm monagamous. Never cheated on my woman in my life. Physically that is. But boy these eyes of mine. Those suckers are philanderers
Hhahaha. Folks anyone who happens onto this Slowhand awards column I would suggest that you stop by and say hello the bunch who blog in the NASCAR section. I'm not into NASCAR, Not knowledgable about it but this is the best bunch of people you could ever hope to meet. Not just photog and cindi but gunquat, Falcon, rapid roy, Queenie and I"m forgetting names and I apoligize for that but this is a super bunch of people. Stop by and say howdy.
nphotogr .....The post you're looking for is under the category of Other and as stated it's written under the guise of tophatal and is titled 'Can I Get Fries Withg That ?'. Once you've read it please let me know what you think ? By the way were you aware of Southern Cindi's health issues ? Were in not for having read gunaquat's post I'd never have found out about her present situation. I'm praying that she'll make a speedy recovery from her therapy.
My thoughts and prayers will be with her and her immediate family at all times !
What did you think of yesterday's game overall ? And what were your thoughts on the ads ?
Could not bring up the fries blog in other. Only shows the last 6 post on my screen.
I did not get to see the game. Bought a Turbo Tax program to do my taxes.Worked with that decrepid program all after noon. Only problem with the blasted thing was I could not down load the free State tax forms as advertised.Kept getting error stating I would have to buy the State Tax CD for an additional 29.95. Strange the box said the State tax forms were included as a free Download.
Typical of the trash Walmart sells. They would not even exchange it or give me a refund. Guess I will sell my stock with that outfit. Sounds like they are heading the way of Kmart before they crashed.
Maybe I should sue Turbo Tax for causing me to miss the Super Bowl. Think I might win??? Doubt it.
Yes I knew about Cindi's health. Really worries me with the Cancer thing.I hope she can beat it.. Really miss that southern smart gals post.
nphotogr .... You should get a notification from Foxsports.com notifying you of the post. And as usual you navigate your way through. Well I've not yet filed my taxes but will be doing so this weekend. I've just got to recheck my figures before finalising everything once and for all !
I trust that you were made aware of Southern Cindi's illness ? It came as a complete surprise to me and I was shockd to learn the extent of her illness. I'm hoping that she makes a speedy recovery and that the cancer will be in remission !
Avid auto racing fan and former racing participant for over 40 years. Enjoy all forms of auto racing but found NASCAR sanction to be my favorite followed by GTP and INDY cars. Have raced in SCCA, NHRA, Stock Car, and Modified sanctions in the past.
Getting up in years has regulated me to being a spectator but still find it exciting to go to the races and enjoy the hoopala surrounding the pre and post race festivities. Also find Nature Photography to be a relaxing form of enjoyment and get quite a few opportunities traveling around the country to the races to use my cameras at the tracks and nature preserves.
