DALE JR. QUITS D.E.I.
Jan 10, 2007 | 10:46PM | report this

LATEST NEWS FLASH !

Dale Jr. decides to cancel his contract with Teressa of D.E.I.  Jr. says that there has been a falling out with his stepmother ( Teressa) of D.E.I. The apron strings he was tied to with her was becomming too tight and restrictive. Other issues discussed was his free time to play around, cars that were less than competitive in 2006, and his recent venture in organizing a racing conglomerate in Mobile, Ala. ( that is in the deep deep South).

Allready other teams are lining up to offer him premier rides in their organizations, Richard Childeres has offered to put him in a new secret car that he had planned to let Harvick drive. Toyota has offered him the presidency of Toyota USA if he went with their cars plus all the Giesha girls he could handle. Jack Roush offered him a partnership in Roush Racing if he went with his teams. Bud Suds promised to follow him  as his sponsor with any team he chose  and promised to double their free samples of Bud Suds. Joe Gibbs made an offer to Dale Jr. but retracted it when Tony Stewart said he would go race for D.E.I. Dale Jr. was heard telling Stewart that he would not wish D.E.I. on any one plus he would have to have Eury Jr. as his crew chief..There is more and will be announced later.

Dale Jr. has become one of the most popular drivers in NASCAR history as of late and continues to attract more fans to the sport.

In a recent interview with some high powered investors, Dale Jr. was over heard stating that  he will build his own racing organization to compete in NASCAR and set up a new stock car sanction operating out of the Mobile Ala. complex offering reasonable seat tickets to the races.. NASCAR immediately released a press statement stating " OH MY, He can't do that. We will have to buy the track to stop that move".

Dale Jr. also stated it is time to give the sport back to the fans and have races that are exciting. His first move to provide excitement was not to have big yellow trailers with Helton look alikes in them. The other moves were higher prize money for first place finishes, no COTs, no bump draft rules, and no restrictor plates. NASCAR was heard as saying " OH MY! He can't do that. Can he??

Many of the NASCAR drivers are linning up to sign up for his racing sanction plans and it has been heard that Mark Martin is comming out of retirement again to race in the new sanction. Bill Elliot has announced to race a full schedule. Will Farrell, the star of Talledega Nights has also expressed an interest.  NASCAR was heard as saying " OH MY! He can't do that. Can he??

Well this is the latest news flash of the day. This is Will Farrell sports caster giving you the (POOF!!!!). Another bad dream folks..

This just in! Dale Earnhart Junior has promised to build a new arena in Pittsburgh. Mario Lemieu has agreed to keep the Penguins in Pittsburgh and the team will play in said arena. Dale Earnhart Junior is quoted as saying, "I am a mover and a shaker and when I walked in the Mayor's office, he trembled in fear then promised the arena would be ready for opening day. I am not sure what Mario thinks about the fact that the Mayor will be requiring him to let me play Center on the first line for the team this season, but hell, that's his problem, he'll do what the Mayor says. And Phil Esposito just better stay out of my way.

Well, will Lancelot slay the Dragon or is this a ploy to get rid of the NASCAR dictator who everyone say don't know his butt from a hole in the ground? Probably the latter I would guess. Jr is one of a handful of drivers who could actually get away with this and then return after concessions are made and not be stomped by the Suit. I see this as the opening battle for control of the money to be returned to the sport of NASCAR rather than the pockets of the NASCAR robber barons.

Actually it is about ownership in DEI, which Teresa does not want to give up. So sadly, its about Teresa sharing with Dale what he might should rightfully already have by now an interest in DEI. Now, if as the stepmom, she wants to put it in a will for him and put that in a contract, that might be appropriate. However, if he can do more elsewhere, it may be time for him to leave the nest. Coming soon to a Nextel Cup track close to you, Dale Earnhart Jr., driving for Richard Childress, in a black Chevrolet with the stylized numeral three you all know, sponsored by GM Goodwrench. And yes, Jr. may get a share of Childress' operation in that deal.

Hey nphotogr!!

Funny piece.... well done!!

On to the topic... I think that what we heard was a small family squabble.... nothing more.
Teresa knows DEI needs Dale Jr., and Jr. knows he needs DEI.....
And anyway..... breakin' up would go against what Daddy/ Hubby would have wanted..... they'll be fine... They've looked good down in Daytona so far...

nphotogr ..... What is Teresa Earnhardt's real problem ? The fact that she doesn't want to give an equity stake to Jr in DEI ? Or the fact that she feel that he's just not pulling his weight when it comes to him being competitive on the track ? Somewhere in the middle there lies the truth asI don't believe we're being given all the facts relating to this matter. The fact that it's yet to become a long running feud leads me to believe that there's more to come. But it's all dependent upon who's prepared to fire the first shot across the other's bow ! It's all very intriguing and will add a little bit more bite to the upcoming season. As there'll be a great deal of interest in the story it plays out in the court of public opinion. It'll beat when there's a downturn in the racing as everyone will want to voice an opinion on the subject. NASCAR fans and the odd passer by who happens to take a notice as to what's happening in the sport !

Thanks guys and gals. I think we may have another silly season and this dream fit quite well in the unfolding drama for 2007. I had also heard some rumblings in the distance concerning Jr. and Teressa so this parody was a shoe in.

The current situation is Jr. is blaming DEI for crappy cars ans DEI is blaming Jr. for crappy driving. Well if you have crappy cars as we all have seen Jr. in, he is going to be doing some crappy driving. Give Jr a hot car for the entire race and Jr. will drive the wheels off it to win..

Good stuff. Enjoyed the article.

It is time for Teresa to do the right thing and offer Jr. a stake in DEI. I understand her jholding out till now but the time has come and Jr. has earned the oppurtunity to be part owner. I believe he needs a say in the operations since Teresa has decided to be an absentee owner.

If Teresa doesn't come across then I have no problem cheering for Jr. in the number 3 car at RCR.

I am sure that if Dale SR. was with us that he would offer his son a stake now. Let's see what mommy dearest does.

mtcmtc33 ..... Somehow I don't think Teresa is yet ready to see Dale Jr step into her former husband's shoes even if it's in a limited capacity as a part owner. She'd rather run the whole business structure rather than see Dale Jr come in and no doubt make changes that she somehow wouldn't make. The relationship between the two it would appear has reached boiling point and the thermometer is about to bust on that puppy ! Hopefully it won't become acrimonious when and if he should decide to leave !
Step-mother or not she'll be the one that the public will have decided is the 'villain' of the piece ! That in itself is a shame as all she's trying to do is to build on her late husband's legacy. Personally I think what better thing to do than to have his son have a stake in the team and still continue to drive for that team in the long term ! It makes for sound and practical business sense one would've thought. But then again Teresa may well have her own hidden agenda in the long run and whatever that might be no one really knows.

In all fairness to Teresa, I think she is trying to properly manage DEI but some decisions she has made leaves me questioning her ability to be effective in her post as CEO of DEI.Being absent at the major races is quite frankly not proper protocol as an owner.Personally, I feel it is time to turn over the reigns of power to Dale Jr.He has the knowledge and personna to be an effective CEO and track owner as well as a driver but not all three at the same time.

However, when or if he ever steps into that position, there may be a wide spread gap in being able to cover all the bases as a driver, track owner, and CEO. The three positions demand a considerable amount of time and attention and one or two will certainly suffer if Jr. does not work 24 hours a day.Physically and mentally it is not logical (Spock slang here) for one person to be able to excell in all three positions. Hiring top level talent to run these operations is certainly evident but with out his personal involvement, it may falter.

nphotogr ......Wouldn't it actually be better for her if she brought in someone with the management skills and necessary knowledge of the sport ? And then for all sense and purpose she can be left ot be the face of the enterprise as a whole. If she were to do that I think that it would be beneficial to the team and negate somewhat Little E's need to want to take over or have a stake in the team. If he knows that the enterprise is being ran judiciously that'll put his mind at ease more than anything else.
Rather than seeing his father's good work starting to evaporate infront of his very eyes.

Ranpantfanatic:

That is a good suggestion but would she have the savy to pick a knowledgeable candidate? The other question is who would want to with those qualifications? Most in the industry now are firmly entrenched in other teams and quite happy I would imagine.

An outsider of the sport with corporate background in business might be an idea but I would not trust them. Most that I have seen from other industries appear to be job jumpers that jump from corporation to corporation every year or so after they fail to meet the goals with a golden umbrella that is equal to about 5 or more average workers life time income. That is how they get their income. Golden umbrellas and jumping from corporation to corporation.

Based on my background in corporate mergers, I would think teams with in the industry might be the better way to resolve the issues with DEI and leave Teresa as a figure head only. I would imagine many of the teams would be chomping at the bits to have a piece of Dale Jr. with in their organization plus they would be acquiring a well set up team with out many issues yet.

nphotogr ... I think that the concensus would be that if they could agree on a mutual candidate that would everyone's best interest at hand. Then I believe that it'd be beneficial for all parties concerned. If anything this would be the best way to resolve the matter. Rather than things ending up rather acrimoniously between step son and step mother.

I think you're right about Jr and Teresa but I think it's an even larger picture. Dale can't just walk and come out any better anywhere else by just driving for someone else so he's talking about his own company and buying a track and giving back to the fans. It's a whole encompassing palace revolt going on and sides will be chosen I bet.

AnotherNBAOutlaw/Dusty .......That's just what NASCAR needs at present a feud within the first family of the sport that's if you discount the Pettys. Just the sort of thing to get the fans on both sides of the aisle frustrated. One way or another this situation is all coming to a head and it'll get really ugly before it gets better ! One way or another it'll be left for the fans to decide which side they'll come down on. Teresa's or Dale Jr's ? And that's one battle NASCAR certainly doesn't want to see played out in public as it may well hurt the popularity of the sport or quite possibly heighten its popularity amongst the ordinary newcomer to the sport.
It won't be fun to see how this is all decided !

Are you serious about France family or are you spoofing me?? If that is true, I could guess at the conglomerate and the figurehead behind that purchase. Wonder if they will send Helton and the big yellow trailer to the Artic Tundra??

Jr is not buying a track in Mobile Ala.He is building one at a cost near the hundreds of millions or more. Actually it will be a racing complex encompasing several sanctions and contain a couple of tracks if not more on over 900 acres of land off of Interstate 10 near the Florida border. There are several deep pocket investors going along with the financing for Jr. Guess I will be selling my home in the Midwest and moving back to my home town soon in Pensacola, Fla.I also understand he went into partnership with Kenny Schrader for a short track some where in the Midwest. Sounds like Jr. is turning into a big time racing promoter and flexing his business muscle.Go Jr. Go...Lets see what you have on the planing board..

nphotogr .... It was sad to hear of the death of former champion Benny Parsons to lung cancer. He served the sport well in both capacities. Not only as a driver but an astute commentator and analyst of the sport.
I'm hoping that NASCAR will certainly do something to honor his memory and that the fans of the sport will be appreciative of it also.
He was a great ambassador for the sport in general and the everyman of the sport could identify with him wholeheartedly !

I agree and he will be dearly missed. This comes as a dreadfull surprise as I had thought he was beating the cancer. Perhaps a complication resulting from the cancer popped up which usually does in some cases.

I would prefer to remember him in his heyday racing with the likes of Jr. Johnson , Yarborough, Petty, Dale Sr., and Allison. He was a great ambasador to the sport as a driver and an announcer in his later years. Certainly a NASCAR hall of fame candidate.

Nah I don't think it will be pretty to see but I do think that Jr is on the right track here. NASCAR has basically deserted those who made them in the first place. they've priced themselves out of the ordinary budget and on top of that from people like the Frances to Teressa they've got people in charge who are not either true business people nor are they competent car people. I suspect the outcome to be that the drivers will get more concessions from the power structure to avoid an all out war and some "bone" will be thrown in for the fans as well.

He's certainly deserving of the honor and most certanly his peers will agree with the sentiment.
They'll no doubt honor him at this year's Daytona 500 and there'll probably be a memorial service in his honor.
And perhaps an honor or some type of a service award to memorialise him will be in the offing !

NASCAR is a lot like a "Big Box" retail business that forgot what they were in business for in the first place. Ignore your customer base and force your self conceived concepts on your customers and they will walk right by your store to shop elsewhere at a business that caters to their wishes.

I guess getting older gives you a deeper perception of issues relying on your experiences from the past and voicing your opinions based on that experience come naturally.

However, should the young guns take heed on our opinions is another story. As a young gun my self way back then, I thought I knew it all only to find out I knew nothing yet. Now that I am older than dirt ( as my grandson says ), I still don't know any thing acording to him.

Photog I'm gonna leave two posts here. One I am giving to everyone from NASCAR blogs that I have spoken with and this one. yes they think we don't know anything just like we thought old people didn't know anything. They're rude on this blog to me and say I'm going to die any day now at age 60 and even worse. I talked to a guy my age the other day that brought the same subject up and he asked me "does your mind feel old? I don't get it. They hate us cause of how we look. But my mind doesn't feel old"....I didn't know what to tell him because he's right. My body is wearing out, everyone's does. But my mind could live forever. I just hate the way this country treats the aging. I can't even collect social security but to them I'm old and useless. But anyhow check back on my blog to see what I said to you. You're welcome to story tell with me any time. I find you to be a delight.

When I toured the south in the late 70's or early 80's in a rock band as a black guy I was not real impressed. There were things said intentionally and unintentionally back then that made me feel that there there had little changed in the South from the stereotypes. Of course I was young and didn't take into account that the people I was hearing say these things were club people or if you prefer...DRUNKS....Now all, there is a point here and I think you'll appreciate it, at least I hope so because it's sincere. I came back to California all those years ago and pretty much held onto my "southern stereotypes" all these years. Any negative thing in the national press only confirmed those stereotypes. You know what changed them? The NASCAR blog on Fox. I find myself wishing you guys wrote more cause I like you guys and I am so impressed with the level of intelligence and the kind heartedness vs the stereotypes. I LIKE YOU GUYS and I wasn't prepared to. I came on the NASCAR site orgionally looking for #### to harass because of my combative personality and you guys have taught me a whole new world of southerners I never knew. GOOD JOB

You say "get a keyboard in front of me...etc"....Ya know to listen to me on a blog I come off as the world's biggest motor mouth and I have always been a motor mouth if you "put me on stage".... Sports as a kid, baseball, basketball, fooball...MOTORMOUTH.....On stage with the bands...MOTORMOUTH...same with the blog, but I know where you're coming from because in my day to day life I just sit there and listen mostly to others. I think it's called basically Photog we're shy people unless we have a "alter ego" that can't be held to up for inspection as who we really are in our day to day life. A blog allows you to "go for it". A stage, a field, those are not "real things". LOLOL those in our "real life" can throw anything we say back in our faces and we're shy in real life. I don't like confrontation in real life. I'd rather just sip my ice tea and stay in the shadows. But here? LOLOLOL Thanks for letting me rant....again.

OK. When you were in the south on your tour back then, the civil rights laws were fairly still new and there were some pockets of resistance in some areas like in ALA, Ga. and Miss.I would imagine. I know in my travels through out the midwest and south I developed some prejudices in some areas back in the 60's through the 90s. The biggest one was about Ft. Lauderdale. I used to call it Old Farts Lauderdale. Swore I would never go back to that area ever.Too many cranky old farts to deal with plus they tought it was ok to drive their cars on the city sidewalks. Now that I am one of them old farts, I think the younger generation is nuts. Amazing what age does to you. Remember I grew up in the Abe Hoffman era where you did not trust any one over 30.In a sense I still don't except for my self.

Funny thing Outlaw: I actually came onto the blogs to vent my educated?? views on NASCAR and set some bloggers ( yankies) straight (harass). Once on I found a genuine and caring group with some well researched material and quite an educated diverse group in NASCAR. The other blogger mediums do seen a bit more harsh with you if you tick them off but they are as a whole a fine group also. Although I am not much into other sports and do not profess to be an expert, I will some times point out a view with them but rarely.

As far a shyness, yep I probably am ( reserved is my definition) but what you read on my blogs is me in reality (what you see is what you get). Here or in person to person, I do say what is on my mind with out reserve once the boiling point is reached.

I am glad you find the NASCAR blogs and bloggers to your liking. If you didn't it would be WHOOP #### time. Ha ha!!!
