Yea Noah and I made it back. Weather was bad. Racing was great. We are both tired. But now that I am back at work I can have a bit of time to update.
Saturday night at ELDORA. The DREAM won by Scott Bloomquist. He drove a great car. He was awsome. I guess from the Prelude we knew he had great cars. Robby Gordon took Scotts back up car to a second place finish to Tony. Anyway. Scott took the lead around 30 or so laps in and never looked back. He went in and out of traffic like a knife threw butter. He showed why this was his fifth win of the Dream. He was a class act.
When Noah and I got to meet Scott last year in Knoxville Iowa he was a great guy. He took the time for photos with him and Noah. He seemed to enjoy the fans. I am sure it was that way in victory lane.
Anoth great finish came from Brian Birkhofer. Brian won the B main. That put him in 21st to start the a main. He like Scott had a great car. It took him a while to get through traffic. He made it up to the back of Scotts car. Near the end on restarts he could see the back of Scott. The only time he got close is when the two of them were in lap traffic. Brian didn't have the car to win, yet he got second from winning the b main. Great run. Remember the b main was 20 laps. Brian had under 10 minutes to change tires and do a couple adjustments. Then pick his way through 23 other cars. The best of 123 total cars and got second. That was a great race.
Also Tony saturday night showed of the new sculpture of Mr. & Mrs Baltes. It is a life size sculpture. It will be there to great all fans on the way in to the track. That was a great touch. Thankyou Tony for a good racing week. The weather was bad. The racing was great. I will try to get a photo blog this week. Thanks for reading. And again Thankyou Tony Stewart.
Scott is a class act and that was an awesome run by Brian as well. For the Earl of Dirt, it just doesn't get any better than late models and sprints at Eldora and Winchester - two of the greatest short tracks in the world and so close together. They're running USAC Sprints, AMS Open Wheel Modifieds, and Thunder Roadsters at Winchester this Thursday night. I've loved both tracks since I was just a kid and remember Jud Larson and Don Branson (along wtih A.J. Foyt) as among the best to ever run the dirt at Eldora. Thanks for the reporting pop.
Pop, Scott B., is a big guy isn't he! It amazes me how those guys fit into those cars. DW sure had a hard time getting into one.LOL I really am looking forward to the pics also.
Thanks all. Yea volf Scott is a big guy. At Knoxville last year taking a pic of him and Noah. What a diffrence. Midget and giant.LOL..
photo I dont think anyone has been left out the storms...They were scary.. Rolling clouds and tornadoes north of Eldora..
Well I am a Father of an awsome 9 yearold junior flaggman. Together we are the biggest racefans. We have an awsome diecast collection and love to get to any races we can. I became a fan with my mother, and now my son with me. I work full time as a machinist, and father. This will be something new and enjoyable, I will also get my sons view and let you no that as well. Well now about the teams and drivers we like. I am a Hendrick fan #24 preferably, and Noah my son Roush and the #17. So last spring was fun when we went to Bristol.
