Week 4 eliminations
Jun 19, 2006 | 11:19AM | report this

This week's voting has concluded, and we must bid farewell to the two finalists who had the lowest-rated blogs this week:

joshhoskins55

nappytemple

Voting for Week 4
1. HiPlainsDrifter -- Avg rating this week: 3.16
2. MooreSports -- 3.12

Eliminated:
3. nappytemple -- 2.79
4. joshhoskins55 -- 2.65

Sorry to nappytemple and joshhoskins55, and congratulations to our final two: HiPlains and MooreSports.

Comments for the Week 4 assignments will come later today, as will at least one of this week's assignments for our final two. As we are now in the final pairing, this week there will be at least two assignments for HiPlains and MooreSports, and possibly a third.

And while the voting will still end Monday, the winner won't be announced until Wednesday so that we can trumpet the announcement a little more.

-Tom

nappy & josh both have a lot to be proud of. Neither were on the radar prior to NGS II yet both earned the respect of many.

Good luck to the final pair.

Well said NorCal. Josh and Nappy, you both did such a great job throughout this whole competition. I didn't get to read your week 4 entries until last night after getting home from vacation, but you both did a very good job.

It was extremely hard to pick which two should advance this week. I look forward to seeing the judges' explanation later. They certainly had no easy task this week.

Moore and HiPlains, sounds like you both have a ton of work ahead of you this week. Best of luck to you both. Congrats on making the top 2!

To the remaining two: Congratulations on an outstanding accomplishment and best of luck from here on out. Prepare for the most nervewracking week of your lives.

To josh & nappy: Nothing to be ashamed of. Making it to the Final Four of a national sportswriting contest is pretty ridiculous if you think about it. You've each been elevated to a truly exclusive area of the blogosphere. Best of luck to both of you and I hope you'll both continue writing.

Thanks for the opportunity to keep this up for another week, it's amazing and a lot of fun. I'm sure HiPlains feels the same way. More importantly, congratulations to Josh and nappytemple for both having a fantastic run as finalists.

I must say I'm a little disappointed Hoskins is out. Not that the two remaining ones don't deserve to be there. I was just a Hoskins fan personally. Good job everyone.

First of all, I just want to offer my congratulations to the two finalists - nothing much else to say at this point other than "may the best writer win."

Although I was "in it to win it", the road to the Final Four has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It was a pleasure competing against the other 15 finalists - there are a lot of talented writers in this community.

Thank you to FoxSports.com for the opportunity, and a special thanks to everyone who voted for me and who read my work. The fact that a great deal of you took a few minutes out of your lives to read something that I wrote means a lot to me. Hopefully, I'll be able to do it again the next time the NGS contest rolls around.

socal: I generally want to, but am always a bit hesitant to say something. I never know if saying "great job", and I genuinely think nappy and josh did just that, makes things easier or harder. That's all.

Ever wonder why I comment so much?

Me too.

Good job on those who made it, and those who didn't...

I have to admit that I enjoy this contest a lot but I have been way distracted from it, due in part to the NBA series (irony), the World Cup, my own crazy writing ideas and inflammatory witers like Big__AL, and let me note that putting him as Featured Blog three days in a row was an insult and high disservice to the four finalists...

I didn't even think of that aspect until now...

I think all four have legitimate complaints in that...

So I apologize for my own distraction and that of the Blogsite...

HPD< good to see you leave a comment. I don't think it ever hurts to congratulate someone. With that said, congrats on making it this far. You were a worthy choice last NGS and have faired better in this NGS II.

First of all, let me toot my own horn-I had HiPlains and Moore in the finals in the office pool!! Seriously, when I first entered the NGSII competition, which was much too late when I noticed it, I never dreamed I'd read so many talented and insightful writers. Kudos to josh and nappy. I think any of the final four could have won. Congrats to Moore and HiPlains. Good to see HiPlains post a few comments, too. I've had a blast reading and writing, and will continue to do so. And what a great way to pass the time sitting in the Albuquerque airport with three hours to kill before my flight back to Phx. Good luck to the two finalists.
