Couture is the Man (for now)
Mar 03, 2007 | 11:44PM | report this

Tonight was an awesome night for me.  As I was watching UFC at a local establishment the TV next to the UFC had the Mavericks get their 15th straight win.

Let's start with the UFC.  Of the televised matches,  all the fighters won that I wanted.

First Hughes did not win in the fashion that I had hoped.  He looked good tonight but I was looking for a tap or referee stoppage.  It will be interesting to see who he fights next.

I expected Franklin to win but thought it would have been a little more competitive.  Rich completely dominated "The Athlete" tonight.  It was great to see that.  Franklin-Anderson will be great.

Now the NEW UFC Heavyweight of the Worrrrllldddd, "The Natural" Randyyy Coutureeee.  Randy brought his A game tonight.  He looked great.  I thought it was all over after that first punch nailed Tim.  I give him credit though, he recovered enough from it not to get his butt knocked out.  Randy completely dominated Tim tonight. and it was great.  Is Cro Cop next for Randy?

Finally, my Dallas Mavericks notched their 15th in a row and 50th of the season.  If they can play like this in May and June then no one will have a chance.  Like I said though, if.  It is great that Dirk doesn't have to be the man every night.  With cast that the Mavericks have, it is a coaches dream come through.  Everyone knows their role and everyone is playing up to their ability.  It could be a great run in May and June.  I can't wait.

Later

The Uprising is here
Mar 03, 2007 | 6:35PM | report this

I am on my way out the door to catch the show.  I can not wait.  This ought to be a tremedous show.  I have been waiting to see Franklin and Hughes come back from their defeats.  I think they both will totally dominate.  Franklin might have to work a little harder than Hughes.  I think MacDonald has a little something but in the end look for Franklin to win.  Hughes will have no problem unless he comes in cocky and I don't ever see that coming.  Now the main event.  Couture vs. Sylvia.  I really think Randy can win.  If I had to pick tonight's winner I will saw Randy.  I think he can get Sylvia down.  It will not be easy but he will and when he does that is where all the damage will happen.  I think Sylvia is a little soft on the ground when he is on the botton.  That big body will give Randy fits but he will pull through.

Well, gotta go find my seat.  Happy watching.

Jalen Rose has a copy of what?
Feb 25, 2007 | 8:30PM | report this

As I was listening to the radio on my way home today I got an interview with Jalen Rose.  I guess it is a weekly segment on Sportingnews Radio I believe.  They started talking about the NBA All-Star Game and all the problems that happened in Vegas.  I was not sure about some of his takes but that is for another day.  At the end of the interview the host asked him about his preview on tonights awards.  At one point they were talking about "Dreamgirls" and Jalen said he had the DVD and that it was really a chick flick.  At the end the host said something funny about him having a copy of a movie that is not out on DVD yet.  I just thought that was rather funny that Jalen came out with that.  Of course, like most people, he was not thinking about how he had a copy before it came out.

Just a funny  note on this Sunday.

Liddell vs Ortiz
Dec 28, 2006 | 11:52PM | report this
I can not wait for Saturday(Dec 30).  Liddell vs Ortiz has the making of a war in the octagon.  I am hoping that Tito gets his block knocked off.  Tito has a way to rub you the wrong way.  I will say though I enjoyed him on the Ultimate Fighter and thought he did a great job training his team.  That being said, his smugness just eats at you.  I understand that you have to have some of that to do what they do.  Lord knows that is something I can not and do not want to do.  I tend to like the humble fighters that just kick ####.  I was so disappointed that both Matt Hughes and Rich Franklin both lost.  They are both that type of fighter.  There are several things I can talk about in the UFC so I will stick with what I started with.  I can not wait for Saturday Night and UFC 66.  The undercard looks great and I hope to see the Huntington Beach Bad Boy get his night rocked by the Iceman in the Main Event.

Sooners have the gripe
Dec 22, 2006 | 10:31PM | report this

With Christmas just a couple of days away, bowl season will hit the floor running.  I was tired of hearing all the so called experts and Michigan fans after the announcing of the bowl bids and new it will start all over.  I keep hearing, well they only lost by 3 at Ohio State.  It might have been different at a neutral site.  OK, Ball State might have done better at a neutral field.  The 5 - 7 Ball State Cardinals.  Why doesn't anyone bring that up.  Michigan had to survive with a goal line stand to win, again we don't hear about that.  Are we positive that Michigan is better than Florida?  Nope, most people just think so.

The team that really has a legitimate reason to gripe are the Oklahoma Sooners.  If the officials would not have screwed up the correctable call on replay, Oklahoma would be a 1 loss team with their only loss to Texas.  There is a great chance they would have been in the Championship game.  For a team that lost their starting quarterback before the season started and the best running back in the country half way through the season the Oregon game was just icing on a very bad cake but they survived and won the Big 12.

Oklahoma vs. Ohio State, now I like the sound of that.

ABOUT ME

muldertx
I was born an Okie and raised a Texan. In college sports I root for both teams until the play each other and then I pull for OU. I stick with all the local teams being The Cowboys, Rangers, Stars, and Mavericks. You will definitely find I will have a bias towards my favorite team. At times I can be a true spin machine if you know what I mean.
