Well as you all may know I am a huge M's fan and it was good to see Ritchie get a hit the other day........unfortunately it was his batting helmet hitting the opposing pitcher! Now I am all for getting out of a hitting slump,BUT, when it can be considered assult with a somewhat deadly weapon (batting helmet) on a player ,not a ball its not quite what I had in mind!
I wonder what the hitting coach said about that "at bat"? Maybe it was something like this.
Good follow through but you dipped your front shoulder a bit. Or-keep your hands inside Ritchie. Quick hands quick hands!
ARGGGGGHHHH, I was so upset when Miami wasted $$$ on washed up fuktard Culpepper, now I can honestly give up on the mand find a new team. I hate you Parcells!!!...I saw this news on '++RichMatchMaking.com++ It is a FREE and HOT celebrity dating site who is open to all quality singles. I have seen several athletes dating there. Check it out!
I'm afraid that was the most action good old Richie has created since he became a multi-million dollar investment by the Mariners' "talent" oriented personnel people... Sorry for my negativity, but the team's results over the last few years have imbittered me.
Here's hoping Sexton's replacement catches fire and the Mariners get some good out of Richie's misplaced emotions.
i think? and no kidding?? it at least showeed the team had a spark????? the mariners are playing (at this point like a little league team!!!! our single A eugene emeralds might play them tough at this point!!!!
"the ball ended up OVER the plate, way over." be that as it may slshusker, when you get a fastball eyeball high on a guy who is listed as 6'8" tall (I got his autograph after a game a few years back and I know it's hard to tell the difference between 6'8" and 6'10", but I'd have to say that he's closer to 6'10" than 6'8") you're trying to send a message, and that message was both received and NOT appreciated...and Richie did what he thought he needed to do, and thankfully, it has provided a spark for the M's offense (FINALLY). Sometimes it takes a player or a manager blowing out his frustration in a very public way for a team to snap out of a funk (see Sweet Lou Piniella for further information) and I think that Richie was one of the more frustrated of the team. Richie has gotten his hits this year, including 7 homeruns, so lets not forget that you CANNOT expect this guy to hit above 260-270, and that he was brought in here to hit homeruns and drive in baserunners. He's doing that. The entire offense was in a funk, and when he comes back, hopefully he'll be able to snap out of it like most of the rest of the team has. I can tell you that Kason Gabbard was scared shitless when Richie took off after him..
THANKS everyone for you comments, I think RS needed to do something but I didn't think the pitch was that close. Granted to throw at a guys head that 6'8" has to be done on purpose!
I was born and raised in Billings Mt and moved after H.S. I lived in Seattle for 17 years and moved back here to Montana 5 years ago and miss all those Seattle teams! GO SEAHAWKS Turn ons: anytime the yankees lose! Damn the evil empire!!! I also am a huge fan of one of the greatest pure hitters of our time Edgar Martinez! HOF no question in my mind.
