I am writing you concerning my friend Larry R. Muncy II. I am hoping you can help him meet Bret Michaels and the other members of Poison. You see, he was paralyzed in a car accident while on his way to a Poison concert on February 13, 1991. He was 14 years old. He is now a 31 year old C5 quadriplegic. I know this may sound crazy, but seeing Poison in concert is one of the few things the accident has kept him from accomplishing. He finished high school, attended college, got married, divorced, and etc. However, he still has never seen Poison. The band broke up not long after his accident, and that kept him from doing it years ago. After a while, meeting Bret Michaels just became something he had to do. He says it is about not letting the accident, or paralysis, have the last laugh!
He almost got to meet Bret about three years ago. He was able to get in touch with the owners of Goodfellas in Pennsylvania where Brett was going to appear and was able to tell them his story. They were going to give him the red carpet treatment free, but it just so happened that he ended up in the hospital with heart problems the same weekend.
Now, the group is doing a reunion tour, and they are coming to the Eastern Kentucky Expo Center in July. I am hoping you can help him somehow. Before you even consider agreeing, let's make sure you understand everything I am asking you to help him with.
Meeting the members of the group, and telling them everything he has gone through to meet them over the years, is what he is truly searching for. He would not be alone. He would have his driver, and caretaker, with him. That is a total of three people. Do you think you might be able to help in some way? You can learn more about him at: www.myspace.com/larrymuncy. We look forward to hearing from you.
I was paralyzed in an automobile accident on 2/13/91, only a few weeks after I had 33 rebounds in one basketball game! My sports career was cut short, but my life wasn't. Although, I no longer have a need to be 6'7". I'm now a 31-year-old, C5, quadriplegic. I am from West Virginia and love Marshall University. I'm a sports enthusiast, and blogging gives me something to do when I'm jones'n for competition. I would love to become a freelance sports writer. I guess my quest begins here. I invite you to follow along. Read my blog, and tell me what you think.
