Dirk= Overrated; Why is the MVP a joke?
May 12, 2007 | 12:19PM | report this

While as you know the Dallas Mavericks, after going 67-15, were eliminated by the #8 seed Golden State Warriors. During that series, the Warriors were dominating the Mav's in every aspect of the game. One person that wasn't dominating was future-MVP Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk sucked in virtually every game and the Warriors killed the Mav's because of it. Now back to the MVP part, why did Dirk win the MVP. He blew it in the playoffs and Nash was way better by far. Just compare them-

Nowitzki- 25 PPG 9 RPG 3 APG 36 MIN
Nash- 19 PPG 12 APG 3 RPG 35 MIN

Almost equal in stats and also remember that Nash did lead his team into the 2nd round unlike Dirk. Both guys had great supporting casts but it was Nash that came up big when his team needed him. Take Game 1 of the 2nd round vs. the Spurs, he gets his nose cut but still comes in and finishes the game. Sure, the Suns lost, but at least Nash showed the leadership to try to lead his team. Now Dirk on the otherhand, well when the Mav's needed him to make a big shot he blew it. So bottom line is- Dirk blows, Nash is better.

Without Dirk, Dallas wouldn't have the record they ended the season with, but in the playoffs he vanished. He was still MVP worthy. It should've went to Duncan this year.

They would've easily made the playoffs because they still have Terry, Howard, and Harris. Check your facts next time ####.

Not going to argue here. Nash is the man ! Hands down. But we have more at bay then the MVP Trophy.
Nash wants the rings. So Nash is going for what everyone wants. His leadership will take them all the way.
The MVP Trophy is all politics anyway. If you ask me Six players could receive it. L. James looks very good, Take a look a B. Davis Golden St., Some think Kobe not me, then Dirk him self, I'd even throw Stoudemire in the mix !
Steve is the smart choise because he is doing in the playoffs and did it in the season.

The MVP is a REGULAr season award.. It has absolutely nothing to do with the playoffs.

Lions, your pretty much the supidest dumb fu*k Ive ever seen. Do you even watch basketball? Your whole blog and lame opinion are based off of the playoffs, which, and heres a little fact for your not-so-knowledgeable mind, the votes were in before the playoffs, WOW amazing isnt it? pffft No more sports blogs for you, go do something on Myspace or something.

I'm not one of those guys that knows a thing about scandals (Bonds, Duke,). I'm a simple minded guy, just here to talk about sports. I have suffered some pain, as I'm a Detroit fan. I have suffered the highs this past decade, Wings and Pistons winning their respectable championships
, and the REALLY lows, Tigers of '03 and the Lions of basically forever. But the sky looks high for Detroit fans, with Tigers making the World Series this past year, but unfortunatley
Rod Marinelli didn't give the season I was begging for. MSU is in their rebounding season, not being ranked or really upsetting anyone (except for Texas) but Drew Neitzel is a future NBA player and he'll remind people of Steve Nash, a guy who can score, but is better at the passing game. Michigan sucks! Go Green!
