Dallas Stars fans were quiet last night for the first home game against the Detroit Red Wings at American Airlines Center. The Dallas Stars have much to look forward to if they do not win this series. The reasons for the Stars team to be proud are summed up in the words next year. Here is why.
Mike Ribeiro has proven himself on this Dallas Stars team. He led the Stars with 83 points, he had 56 assists, and a fighters attitude. He will be a star for the Stars and teams in the National Hockey League finally took notice of number 63. Mike Ribeiro has made the series against the Sharks in the second round and in the third round against the Wings exciting. The intensity level he plays with will place the Stars to be contenders next year.
Brad Richards has Stanley Cup experience and the ownership and management will be counting on the success he had with the Lightning to follow him to Dallas. It has, there were alot of people who thought that Dallas would not be in the playoffs and certainly not in the Western Conference finals. Brad Richards has the knack to find a way to win. The Dallas Stars have reason to count on him and Ribeiro because they answered the question of can we? Yes and the four overtime game versus the Sharks proves they can win and persevere against the best the NHL has to offer. Last night there were chances for the Stars on offense and the powerplay, knowing when to capitalize will make the Stars even more dangerous. It starts with the experienced Brad Richards.
Brendan Morrow, captain for the Dallas Stars, had 32 goals in the regular season to lead the team in goals, and leadership that most teams in the NHL would like to have for the season and playoffs. Brendan Morrow and his team took San Jose Sharks and displayed determination and drive to win. This is something to be proud of and realize that next year we are going to even have that drive more. When hockey players like Brendan Morrow want it even more the other teams in the NHL better take notice. They have and they will next year. Brendan Morrow is a star of the Stars and shooting the puck will get him to the next step to be taken in reaching the prize at the end.
Stay positive fans. From what has been seen on television the Dallas Stars are not that far from bringing the Cup to Dallas. There are some questions for the Dallas team that will be resolved in the summer like will Mike Modano retire? The question about Fabian Brunnstrom will be answered with the start of the 2009 season. The fans of the Dallas Stars team that have been on Foxsports.com have been all class with Red Wings fans. That is what makes the NHL the best. So stay positive Stars fans next year will answer some questions for the team and the stars of the Dallas Stars will again have all the NHL taking notice.
Thanks for the kind words. As a Stars fan, I didn't expect them to beat the Red Wings, but I would have liked a more competitive series. You guys are a juggernaut-keep the Cup in the Western Conference. Hopefully, we'll meet again next year!

The Stars have done their city proud. But Chris Osgood has proved when given the chance he can perform almost as good as Dominic Hlasek.
And that's saying a lot believe me !
rampant/tophatal Osgood is two games away from the hallowed ground of records for consecutive wins in playoffs; the Motreal Canadiens hold record of 11 games won without loss. I used the word hallowed because the Canadiens are the team to catch when it comes to playoff records.
Hi friend,
As a fan of the Dallas Stars it is nice to read your comments especially as a fan of the adversary the Detroit Red Wings. You have a great team there in Detroit and tradition and they may go on to win their 4th Stanley Cup this decade putting them in the same class as the Spurs and Yankees and maybe the Patriots if they ever get four. Anyway the Stars had an exciting year capped off by the 4ot win against the Sharks. It's not enough but there is hope for the future in Dallas. Thanks again for the comments and best wishes friend. fenfan
fenwayfanatic the Stars will be around contending for awhile. I like the job Brett Hull is doing as GM.
I am positive that giving Brunnstrom a contract like he was given shows why Hull is a real good GM.
Hull is not paying for hype he wants numbers and ability to be what he is paying for.

Never as such been a amoured fan of the sport. But whilst at work at nights it becomes the topic of debate amongst some of my work colleagues. So I decided to watch the last game between the Stars and Red Wings to see what the fuss was about. Now you can count me as a fan of the sport. It'll take me some time as such to become keenly attuned to some its finer points. But I'm a fast learner in that respect so no doubt I'll pick it up as I go along.
Whomever the Wings play in the Stanley Cup finals . I see them with the upper hand be it against the Flyers or Penguins as the case may be.
rampant go to a hockey game that would be my suggestion.
A hockey seen in person will give the right perspective about the action, the goalies, and what goes on during the game that is not shown on TV.
It will not take you long to catch on if you can get to some games and ask questions from the fans around you during the intermission and the more you ask the more insight into the finer points of the arena and the ice condition will help you understand how each ice surface is different from arena to arena.
Also it will help you gain knowledge about the refs as the fans will tell you who the good and bad are.
Glad to see that you like the game and want to find out more about it.
I am not going to jinx the Wings on this blog. That is one reason for this post because the Stars are damned tough and they do not quit.
But the number of games won is in the Wings favor.
Two teams in NHL history have only come back from a 0-3 deficit the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Islanders team with Mike Bossey.
letsgoredwings - The firepower is simply not there from the Stars' forward lines. Couple that with dominating defensive play by the Wings. The turnovers in the neutral zone and at the blue line are embarrassingly costly. The Stars bowled over the Ducks and Sharks but have met their nemesis of old again.
I'll be at the AAC tonite hoping for that elimination saving win.
Got to credit the Wings in being dominating in every aspect.
And thanks to Hully for what he's engineering in Dallas! The Brunnstrom signing was a tad risky, given the minutes he's almost demanding, but Dallas is a perfect fit for him. The Richards signing was huge! The rookie defensmen in Dallas are gaining tremendous playoff experience. It's all coming together. Loved the Ott contract extension!
I hope we can do this again next year - with different results!

I'd say this the good teams in any sport know how to win in the regular season. However the great teams really know not how to win in the regular season but they also know how to get it done in the postseason as well.
The Red Wings are that sort of a team and they know how to do that. By their pedigree alone should explain it all.
LetsGo, I follow the Wings, since they're the class of the NHL. A good clean team and fan base gets me following the team. Your owner does what it takes to bring in quality personnel.
Should the Wings somehow win the series(right!), my allegiance is with the West.
The game of hockey is intense, it is a game that is not about finesse all the time. It is about second chances and detmerination and the fight to win welcome back DMAC #25!
