Angels vs Dodgers (stadiums)
Nov 29, 2007 | 8:56AM | report this

vs.

So let me just start with I don't hate the Dodgers. I'm just trying to start a little conversation with some baseball fans, especially those in LA. I do hate the Yankees though, but then again, who doesn't?

Okay, so I was reading a blog about the possiblity of Miguel Cabrera going to the Angels by sportthink, and he basically put together a pretty funny top 10 list bashing the Angels. (well more like a top 6 list).

Anyway here's my list. Top 10 reasons Angel Stadium is better than Dodger stadium:

1. Angels stadium has way hotter women in the stands. Orange county surfer chicks vs. biker chicks from the valley.

2. Less criminals in the stands. And by criminals I mean Raider fans. After the Raiders packed up their fans had to go somewhere, they went to Dodger stadium. And they still wear their Raider gear. To a baseball game!

3.  Better hotdogs at Angel Stadium. The Angels use Wienerschnitzel, Dodgers use Farmer Johns. You can talk about the tradition of the Dodgerdog all you want, I'm talking taste. BIG advantage for the Halos.

4. Better parking. The parking lot at Dodger stadium is on a hill, Angels parking lots are flat. Tailgating is much better on a flat surface.

5. Better access to the freeways after games.  Anyone in LA knows how important this is, and Dodger traffic is notoriously bad.

6. There's a Hooter's in the ballpark at Angels stadium!

7. And another Hooter's just outside the parking lot, walking distance after the game because...

8. If the Angels score 10 runs or more, you get 10 free wings at Hooter's for each ticket. Tip your waitress well, that place is rediculously packed!

9. Lighting up the Halo after an Angel victory. The closest thing you'll get after a Dodger victory is gunfire from the Raiders fans!

10. Finally the Rally ####! You gotta love the ####! The videos on the JumboTron are great.

Okay Dodger fans, fire away. I mean with comments, not actual bullets!

Are there any Dodger fans left? I'm not so sure I've ever seen a Dodger fan in here. I have to agree with you on most of these, but I was not aware that they put a Hooter's inside the stadium. Appreciate the mention! Been to any hockey games lately?

sportthink, glad you like the post! You might me right about the lack of dodger fans on here, but then again, they are dodger fans, give them time to sound out each word. Check back tomorrow, maybe one of them will post by then!

Unfortunately the hockey I've seen lately is the Milwaukee Admirals. Still fun, but no the same.

ok, being an actual dodger fan i've come to defend the blue...

Without a doubt you're absolutely right about the parking and easier access to freeways.

Yes, it is also true that a majority of our fans are raider fans...and that is regrettable. Its ok to be an angels fan..if you are the milder, family man....it takes guts to be dodgerfans. haha

Finally...getting to my main point..

you honestly would take a hot dog in anaheim over the dodgerdog?!? the dodgerdog!

Even those who arent baseball fans know of the dodger dog...its historic..its great. Stick to your guys' rally ####.

Plain and simple, dodger stadium has more history and more memories than most of the ballparks, maybe right behind yankee stadium.

If you want a REAL baseball experience, if you want to see REAL rivalries and the most loyal fans....then it looks like dodger stadium is whats up.

YOU MAKE SOME VERY GOOD POINTS BUT I BELIEVE THE DODGERS STILL DRAW MORE FANS! THE WOMEN YOU SPEAK OF,(MOST BUT NOT ALL) ARE WHITE TRASH FROM THE INLAND EMPIRE AND NOT THE OC (WHO ALL JUMPED ON THE BADWAGGON WHEN THE ANGELS WON THE WORLD SERIES). TRUST ME MY FAMILY LIVES IN THE OC BUT WOULD NOT BE FOUND AT THE (WHATEVER THEY CALL THAT BALLPARK) THESE DAYS! ANGELS ARE A GREAT TEAM AS OF MAYBE 5 YEARS BUT BEFORE THAT THEY WERE NOTHING BUT THE LAUGHING STOCK OF ALL PRO SPORTS.. NOTHING BUT A PLACE FOR #### TO GO AND WATCH A TEAM THAT COULD NOT PLAY IN POST SEASON. A PLACE TO GO AND WISH THEY HAD A CLUE ABOUT BASEBALL. A TEAM TO WATCH AND WONDER IF YOUR LOCAL HIGHSCHOOL BASEBALL COULD BEAT! YES AGAIN YOU DID MAKE SOME VERY GOOD POINTS ABOUT THE 2 TEAMS BUT IN THE END THE ANGELS WILL NEVER BE EVEN CLOSE TO THE DODGERS IN FAN BASE. THE DODGERS HAVE WOLRD WIDE FANS AND THE ANGELS HAVE THE IE FOLKS WHO UNTIL A FEW YEARS AGO HAD NO CLUE WHAT REAL BASEBALL WAS ALL ABOUT. I WILL NOT CHECK TO SEE ANYONES RESPONSES BUT GO AHEAD BUT YOU KNOW I AM 110% RIGHT ON THIS #### BUT FOR ANGEL FANS IT IS HARD TO ####. AGAIN ANGEL FANS, THINK WITH YOUR HEAD ON THIS AND YOU WILL AGREE BECAUSE YOU KNOW ITS ALL TRUE,, EVEN THOUGH YOU REALLY DO HAVE A WONDERFUL TEAM. MYSELF I WOULD ENJOY WATCHING THE ANGELS PLAY BUT WITHOUT THE FANS,, GREAT TEAM!! MORENO NEEDS TO STOP BUYING PLAYERS AND BUY NEW FANS!

Brings back many memories...

I was able to attend ball games in all of the pro stadiums on the west coast, Seattle to San Diego. Of the older stadiums my favorite, bar none, was Dodger Stadium. It was state of the art back in the day. It was the first big league park I was in, and like they say, the first time I saw that red clay infield and the lush lawn I just stood there in awe. This when I was a SF Giant fan! I hated Candlestick, but the worst was the old Kingdome. That was el cheapo on a stick! The Oakland Coliseum and the park in San Diego seemed to be out of the 70's cookie cutter variety that was the rage back then... Multi-function stadiums were the worst. The Big A in Anaheim was probably second best. I had a roommate in college who had box seat season tickets and we regularly went to see the Angels.

Of the new stadiums, I'd have a tough time choosing between Pac-Bell (Is that still the name?) in San Francisco and Safeco Field in Seattle. Probably Safeco for creature comforts...

I grew up in Central California and we could pick up 5 different games on the radio during the season, and late night there were six games with the Mariners coming in.

Many memories... Thanks alot!

Great post

The ONLY good part of Doyer stadium is Filipes down the street. one of the best pre-game eats EVER.

aside from that, nothing.

my dad took me to a few dodgers game s as a kid and all i remember is on one occasion getting peanuts and popcorn thrown at me as a seven year old kid because i was wearing a giants jacket from a little league team. Dodgers fans, for the most part are ####.

Both of these stadiums lose in my opinion however. PETCO Park in downtown san diego is the nicest park i have ever been to. the ambience is unreal, the design is second to none, and the attitude from the staff,, especially during batting practice is amazing. It also seems like less people get wasted through the course of the game, as i have experienced at dodger stadium and fenway.. and just a little bit in Anaheim.

Enemyofstatedp, I do enjoy a dodger game every now and then, and yes I know the tradition of the Dodgerdog, but maybe they should update the tradition. The dogs definately taste better in Anahiem. Sorry.

nomokobe, if you represent the Dodger fans, I rest my case. Next time you try to make a point, DO NOT TYPE IN CAPS, it's extremely annoying to read.

Yes, Dodgers still beat the Angels in attendance, but the Angels close the gap every year. And you know you have 909ers at Dodger stadium too! Nice try though!

Dwindy1, I agree that Safeco is a very nice stadium. I put it in my top 5.

But I'm gonna have to agree with timmoore2, and the new Petco Park is the best on the west coast. I love the stadium, and even better is after the game you're already right downtown. You can walk to some great bars and restaurants. The only problem I have with Petco is that nobody tailgates. It's not really a good park for it. Come to Miller Park in Milwaukee once, and you'll see the best tailgating in baseball.

totally, the thing with petco is that, i would say 50% of the people don't park in petco's lot. a lot of people park in the horton plaza mall's structure, and I, for one, take the train in. San Diego's public transit is safe, cheap, and not too crowded.

The energy is amazing at angel stadium. we went to game 4 of the 2002 ALDS when they knocked off the Yankees and it was the closest to electric i'll likely ever get. it was before a lot of people jumped on the bandwagon, and just about everyone there had an emotional attachment to the team. when the angels took the lead in the 5th inning, we literally did not sit back down for the rest of the game.

High fiving stangers and hugging attractive women after every run scored is definitely a plus in my book.

I wish I could have made a Angels playoff game, but when I live out there I was too broke to afford that. I went to a bunch of regular season games and paid $10 to sit in the rowdy section out in field. Once in a while I'd get good seats, but it would be against the Devil Rays, or some other crappy team.

Also, there's no shortage of hotties at Petco Park either!

1. Hotter chicks? Maybe, many times you can have Hollywood and Adult Film Stars vs. the rejects from MTV’s Laguna Beach and real wives of Orange County.
2. Less criminals? No way. I guarantee you that Angel stadium over the past 5-7 years has had its fill of sub-prime mortgage lenders who cheated so many families out of their dreams.
3. Better hot dogs? No way. Angels have been using Wienerschnitzel since 1999. Farmer John has been an L.A. landmark for over 40 years. Advantage = Dodgers
4. Better parking? Yes, Angel stadium has this over the Dodgers hands down.
5. Better access? At least the Angels have Orange County’s Sheriff to direct traffic. The Dodgers could ask for the LAPD but they are too busy chasing Raider fans. Advantage = Angels
6. Hooters in Angels Stadium. Not this year. Dodgers Stadium now have Canter’s Deli.
7. Hooters outside the Stadium. Sure but why go there? Why not just make a U-Turn, head down to Fritz’ Too, empty your ATM and have a better experience.
8. 10 Runs get your Claim Jumper Burger Sliders this year and maybe a triple bypass waiting.
9. Light up the Halo? Do you really have to suggest to fans in Orange County that this is the only way to communicate a victory? Dodger fans will at least turn on the radio. Advantage = Dodgers
10. Rally ####? Are you serious Angel fan? You need a #### holding a sign and doing back flips to “Jump Around” to get excited. I would rather have Randy’s Newman’s “I Love L.A.” any day over Boston’s House of Pain. Why not just delegate Angels Stadium as Fenway Park West?! Advantage = Dodgers

ABOUT ME

lb_ice_dogs
I'm an avid sport fan, but I'm a college football fan first. I'm a Iowa Hawkeyes, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bulls, and LA Angels fan. I also love the UFC, and think boxing is a dying sport. I'm a horrible golfer, but I like to drink while driving a golf cart and the golf course is the only place that lets me do that. I live in Milwaukee now after living in Iowa and Long Beach, CA. And without a doubt, Wisconsin people are the undisputable kings of tailgating. Even Brewer games people tailgate like it's a college bowl game.
