Thanks for this post Iaan. As a middle school physical eduation teacher, I can attest to how important athletics are for kids. Nowhere in their education to they learn to deal with competition, winning, losing, physical contact, teamwork, and sportsmanship, like they do in physical education.
As for charactor within professional athletes...it is huge! It is amazing how the kids who struggle at school show up with their T.O. jerseys, their Romanowski jerseys, their Vick jerseys, their Raiders jerseys ect.... The more well behaved kids seem to be wearing Gates, Tomlinson, Brady, etc... Yes, I know that these athletes have some issues too, but they are not making headlines every week for stupid stuff like some others.
