Here's another chance for all you blogger's to give a shout out about your favorite team.
We all know about the first to hoist the Cup, the first team to win consecutive championships, and the first to have a player throw a no-hitter.
Give me your favorite teams most off-the-wall stat or play or game. I'll come back and look deeper into the most bizarre ones I hear. And remember, the craziest or most creative will always win.
The Boston Red Sox. The NY Yankees. The San Antonio Spurs. The North Carolina Tar Heels. The New England Patriots. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The USC Trojans.
As I reel off these names, can you hear it? Can you hear that faint rumbling?
It seems more and more supposed 'fans' can hear the call. It is the call of the bandwagon and it seems that it is blowing its horn more loudly than ever. Even here, in the NW corner of Minnesota, I see Bo Sox hats and Irish caps. (Don't ask me why.)
These fans go around blowing their own horn about their 'favorite' team, but can't name a single historic player. You ask them to name someone who stood out over 10 years ago and they just stare into space until drool runs down or they glare at you for questioning their fanhood.
It just pains me to see so many people just jump freely from team to team. I mean, players do it enough, fans shouldn't have to too.
What has happened to loyalty? To pride? To honor?
All I have to ask you wagontrain fans is this: Who will be your favorite team 2 years down the road? 5 years? In fact, I'll just come by and see after the next championship game. And don't hide your new hat.
Note: To all you loyal fans out there, if you know anyone like this inspire them to be like you. They are in obvious need of guidance.
It features Hobey finalists, 1st round draft picks, and future Hall of Famers
It showcases pure talent, extreme creativity, and raw emotion.
It has some of the wildest fans you will see all screaming "Destination Denver", school pep bands blaring "Fight" songs, and the best chants you will ever hear at a sports game.
Yes, what I'm talking about though some of you may have figured it out, is the Frozen Four, or the equivalent of the Big Dance on college hockey's scale.
The Frozen Four has been set and our semifinal matchups are as follows:
Michigan Woverines vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Michigan comes in with all guns blazing and the consensus number one at this point and is heavily favored. They sport the nation's leading scorer in Kevin Porter (62 points and 5 G, 1 A in the tourney) along with Chad Kolarik (54) and Aaron Palushaj (41). They are led in net by Billy Sauer who has put together a record of 30-4-3 with a 1.89 GAA and a .927 save percentage.
They face off against an upstart Notre Dame team who was seeded 4th but upset #4 national seed New Hampshire before knocking off Michigan St. to face the Wolverines. They are led in scoring by Erik Condra (38) but are a very diversified scoring team with 9 players having 8 or more goals. They are backstopped by Jordan Pearce who has a record of 22-14-4 with a 1.95 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
In this matchup I would have to lean towards Michigan. They have just too much firepower and they will show why they are number one. Porter will show why he is a Hobey finalist and the nation's leading scorer.
Michigan wins 4-1.
North Dakota Fighting Sioux vs. Boston College Eagles
The Sioux come into the game after a thrilling win over Wisconsin in OT. The Sioux are led by TJ Oshie (43), a Hobey finalist this year, and Ryan Duncan (39), a former Hobey Baker winner. They are led in net by yet another Hobey finalist in JP Lamoureaux who sports a record of 26-10-4 with 6 SOs and a 1.63 GAA and a .935 save percentage. The Sioux also support one of the most diverse and hardest working lineups in the league.
The Eagles come in after a huge OT win over Miami of Ohio. The Eagles have one of the fastest sets of skaters in the league today. They are led by Nathan Gerbe (60), a Hobey finalist, and Joe Whitney (50) but have many other capable scorers who can get the job done. In net, they have John Muse who has a record of 23-11-8 with a 2.26 GAA and a .92 save percentage.
In this matchup I see BC using their speed to wheel around in the offensive zone and creating many scoring chances. UND will definitely bury their chances as they have this postseason and they will look to revenge their loss to BC in a past Frozen Four. The question will lie on goaltending. Can Lamoureaux keep up his streak of great play and can Muse stop the great scorers of UND?
BC takes this one in OT, 3-2.
Well hears to shining some limelight on some of these kids you may not hear much about, but they are some of the best athletes you will see. If you get the chance, check these games out, they will be wild.
I've done some looking in my recent posts about the number of comments that come through. It seems as though that when I, someone who is not well-known on foxsports, try to write well, nobody ever comments and the post goes to the wayside. Then, when I write to provoke certain readers, as I did with my last post, people comment, thus increasing the number of hits I get because I appear at the top of the page more often.
This proposes a question for unestablished bloggers out there, Do I write poorly and attack certain teams to get people reading, or do I write well and hope I am discovered? It seems as though many people are trying to do the 1st mentioned. Should I do this, or should I continue to try to write well and just hope somebody will happen to glance at it and see it for what it truly is?
That's a question for bloggers out there. Should you try to be taken seriously but be under the radar, or go out and be known for being a loud-mouthed fool? For me, I think I'll go with the first.
OK, so the title was just to attract more people to read this but I'm writing this to tell you that I think Amanda Beard is making a terrible mistake. Ms. Beard was a role model for many young girls who take a passion in swimming. I'm not going to go as far as to say that she was a hero to anyone, but you get my point.
She was an Olympic swimmer who has won gold. She has a great career oppurtunity outside of sports too. She, because she was such a beautiful person, could have been a spokeswoman for companies or other things. But instead, she just went off, made a boneheaded decision that some young women make, and decided that it would be really cool if she posed topless. She went out and ruined her chances to be a role model and spokesperson for different things. She has greatly hurt her image in the eyes of other swimmers. But worst of all, she has shown little girls all over the country that it is O.K. even if your a big athlete who wins the gold medal, to pose nude in order to gain publicity. Now maybe she didn't think of this before she agreed to do it and maybe she did. Either way, she has set a terrible example for the next generation of female athletes and just women in general.

I'm a 17-year-old sports fan that lives in the northwest corner of Minnesota about 20 miles from Canada, who would love to be a sports writer. I have played organized sports all my life including football, baseball, golf, hockey, and, though I'm not too proud of it, basketball for a weekend.
