If you ask any sports fan about Puerto Rico's boxing, they will reminisce about Felix "Tito" Trinidad, but the new kid on the block is Miguel Cotto from Caguas Puerto Rico, I love boxing, and if you ask me what do I feel when I see Miguel Cotto entering a ring, it's as if my own brother was getting in there to fight, my heart beats faster, I get goosebumps listening to our National Anthem, I live every punch is received or thrown by our Champion, tonight's fight against Zab Judah was a fight for the ages, you had two fighters not running away but towards each other, even though Cotto received a cut in the chin early in the fight he didn't held back but fought with the usual toughness, Cotto is more of a bully fighter, he knows he hits hard and he's going to let you know about it by hitting you in the gut, tonight by doing so he lost a point by hitting Judah below the belt, but I got to mention he was very apologetic about it, after that, he received a head butt by Judah followed by a right punch that I believe was dirty, I noticed something different in Cotto right after the head butt, and is that he was more determined to finish Judah. In the early rounds he was looking for openings, jabbing here and there throwing an occasional hard punch, then after the head butt he was creating those openings by hitting the upper and lower body of Judah and pressing Judah to the point that it looked like he was running away which he wasn't, after a flurry of punches from Cotto on the 9th. Judah knell down, then on the 11th. the predictable happened, Cotto cornered Judah hitting him with three hard punches knocking him down, Judah got up and tried to fight his way out of the round but the referee intervened after another flurry by Cotto and stopped the fight on the 11th., I was happy to see Cotto rise to the occasion and with all the pressure he's been in he proved to be a determined, focus and professional fighter, now if only any of the top ranked fighters had the guts and give Cotto a fight, let's say Mayweather jr. or Margarito, if they stop running away from Cotto and give him a fight he'll prove to be the best in this weight, I hope the world can appreciate the kind of fighter Miguel Cotto is, do you imagine what kind of fight would be to see Cotto fight Trinidad, I would not endorse it but nevertheless it would be a hell of a war, sadly Trinidad has retired leaving a huge gap on the sport, but little by little Cotto who is 30-0-0 25 ko's is filling the gap left by the greatest champ in puertorican boxing history. Long live boxing.
