Who Would You Throw Under The Bus? -- July 13, 2008
Jul 13, 2008 | 7:14PM | report this

Perusing the world of sports, one can find many sports figures that vex you, trouble you, or get you so pissed off that you want to SCREAM. You so want to vent your ire. Here is the forum that gives you, the Joe Six-Pack Fan, a forum to vent at the object of your ire by calling them out for their idiocy, or their stupidity, or their arrogance, or whatever else pisses you off. You can do this by throwing _______ under the Bus. I have some nominees.

NFL

Matt Jones, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars: this genius was busted for blow in Arkansas. Dude, you're a marginal football player at best. You're BARELY hanging on by a thread on the Jaguars' roster. This isn't going to help, especially when Sheriff Goodell metes out his brand of justice on you. You're going to WISH you had to deal with Sheriff Joe Arpaio instead of Sheriff Goodell. For snorting away your lazy, underachieving career, you get thrown Under The Bus.

Odell Thurman, former Bengals' LB: as if pissing away your football career isn't enough, now you are being sought for an arrest warrant for felonious assault. You STILL don't get it. Perhaps when you're caught by the authorities, justice will be served on you and you'll do a LOT of time in the pokey. DON'T blame _____ for your problems. BE ACCOUNTABLE and accept the consequences for your actions. In the meantime, you get to know up close and personal the tire tracks of the Bus you are to be thrown under.

Travis Henry: as if his babymaking skills weren't enough to give him a headache, now he's facing his biggest headache of all: a possible year long suspension from the NFL for allegedly testing positive for the hippie lettuce. Is jonesing for chronic that much more important than pulling an NFL pay check? Apparently to you, it is. I don't get these imbeciles that have MAD game yet choose to #### it all away for one reason or another. For pissing your career away due to the chronic and all that baby making, you get thrown Under The Bus.

NBA

Los Angeles Clippers: they had a great chance in the offseason to become a legitimate power in the Western Conference. Or at the very least improve themselves. They did neither. They let their franchise player, Elton Brand, go to Philadelphia. They let their second best player, Corey Maggette, flee to Golden State. At least they did sign Baron Davis, but he alone won't be enough. This is why they are the Lakers' JV team and deserve to play at the Sports Arena rather than the Staples Center. Hell, the Lakers' D-league team could probably beat the Clippers. For being the Clippers and being the face of front office ineptitude, the Clippers front office gets thrown Under The Bus.

NASCAR

J.J. Yeley: his #96 team was caught cheating prior to the LifeLock.com 400. Did someone on that team call Bill Belichick for some cheating advice? NASCAR assessed Yeley a drive through penalty at the start of the race. He did recover sufficiently to finish 24th. For being caught cheating, Yeley and his team get thrown Under The Bus.

And now for one off the beaten path:

Celebrities that give their children FUGLY names: you know what I'm talking about. The celebrity idiots that give their children names like Apple, Sunday Rose, etc. Those kids are scarred for life. These celebrities ought to be spayed or neutered for this. Then they should be thrown Under The Bus.

Those are my nominees for the week. Feel free to come in with yours.

This is one of the best one's I ever read. I'm throwing Brett Favre under the bus also, not for wanting to come back but for all the drama.

Nique, thanks for the read and the compliment. Favre is going to be a regular there, it seems. Sports talk radio has been blowing up with the Favre drama 24/7.

I've been trying to put Matt Jones ON the bus for three years now. He needs to go to OZ with the scarecrow to get a heart.

Your bus gets longer, wider, and heavier every week.

Can you grant me a pardon and allow me to throw a non-sports individual under this week?

SPRINT/NEXTEL!!!

Beefsupreme, Shannyn Sossamon's baby WILL be scarred for life. That kid doesn't stand a chance. At least George Foreman named his kids decent names, even if all of them are named George or Georgette. Under the Bus with Shannyn Sossamon!

What about Dweezil and Moon Unit Zappa(or are you too young to remember the Valley Girl craze)? Kinda make you wonder what ol' Frank was smoking when it came time to fill out the birth certificates.

Then again, there was Governor Jamed Hogg of Texas who named his darling baby daughter Ima,

And if you go down the list of band members in my high school yearbook from my sophomore year, you will find listed one Schmuck, Eura(one of the seniors added the name to the list as a joke).

SB 20, I remember Dweezil and Moon Unit Zappa!! I grew up in that era! (Now I'm dating myself!) I called him Dweezil the Dweeb. And there was a men's basketball coach at a Central California christian college named Frank ####. I kid you not!

From what I've heard...Please correct me If I'm wrong, but its Elton Brand that should be thrown under the bus.

Telling your front office and coach as well as texting all other Clipper players, that you will gladly take less money if they sign Baron Davis, then renigging on that after they signed BD.
In my opinion, Maggette gets a pass cuz he waited to see what Brand did before he signed with Golden St.

What could have been:
PG - Baron Davis
SG - Cuttino Mobley
SF - Corey Maggette
PF - Elton Brand
C - Chris Kamman

Secondly, Baseball All-Star balloting. If your going to make the game count for something (home field in the WS), then make it more then a popularity contest.

Plus, In real life when you vote, you only get one chance. Giving people 25 votes is ludicrous. it allows fans to gang up on one player and the final vote-in is proof of that. Evan Longoria and Corey Hart are highly questionable

On the NL side Carlos Lee, Pat Burrell and David Wright were more deserving, but did not get in (Wright did later as a replacement player).

Evan Longoria is pure media driven hype...the Rays are overhyped and so is this guy...A rookie with a .280 avg would normally not make it in and shouldnt have. Especially with the year Jermaine Dye is having for the White Sox

Speaking of the Sox, and this Red Sox Nation ####, dont even get me started on Jason Varitek, in a huge slump batting .200, and JD Drew, who has had one good month, starting when Ortiz went on the DL. The first 2 mths of the season, Drew was his usual, underachieving self.
One good month doth not an All-Star make...if that were so you would see more than 1 Detroit Tiger on this All-star team. Its Red Sox overhype and overexposure and it may just come back and bite the AL in the ####!

I know this is off topic, but I would like to throw the United States Congress under the bus.

2 years ago Dems took over the House and Senate when Congressional approval hovered at, or around 20%.

2 year later, things have ony gotten worse, Congressional approval last week scored an ALL TIME low of 9%!

9%!!!!!

jon464; id like to throw JoshQPublic and Bosox61 under the bus. Thanks to their tireless efforts in stuffing the ballot box, the rest of us will be forced to watch the National League take on the Boston Redsox in this years All/Star Game..

But you my friend are safe this week...

And how bout " Fancis Bean Cobain " or "Peakaboo Street" ?

hey jon, when do you suppose all the comments will start from outraged fans about how unfair it is that Kyle will lose his big lead going into the chase like all those ones about Jeff last year?

I'm going with never for the reason that "it's only Kyle Busch", lol

Kelly, thanks!

Beefsupreme, LOL! Still one of the all-time funniest names!

Noahspop, I agree with you about TNT. Disagree to a point about the oil execs.

Dezz, DEFINITELY Congress!! This year's All-Star balloting is the reason why it should be limited to players and coaches. It's basically Cubs vs. Red Sox. J.D. Drew and Jason Varitek as All-Stars is a FREAKING JOKE.

b@o, how about the other Red Sox fans that stuffed the ballot box in favor of their boys? Good job by the Mets in finishing the first half on a hot streak! As far as the Cobain daughter, Frances isn't a bad first name, but Bean? PUHLEEZE!!

Tez, Kyle will just run and hide after the Chase starts! Then he will wrap up the title by Homestead.

NFL players not using dope is like a hooker who hasn't a pimp. Both need one another to co-exist.
I'd even say throw the Sox's Papelbon under a bus but after the greeting he got from the Yankees I feel that the work has been already done.

As for celebrities giving ther kids name that they'll have to live with long after that parent has gone, has to be unforgivable.
Consider George Foreman and his brood , 9 kids . Five boys and four girls and each of 'em are either named George or Gerogina. Suffice to say I pity any of the boys who might've been called Georgina.

Tophatal, I think the Yankees' fans did a great job in throwing Papelbon under the bus. As for the kids with the fugly names, if they're smart, they'll pick a decent name as they get a bit older and go by that name, i.e., David Bowie's son Zowie, who changed his name to Joseph.

The Yankees and their fans have always made Sox player feel welcomed within their domain. As for Papelbon he ought to have known better.

Bowie and his ex wife Angie were always nutcases to begin with. So I'm neither surprised or amazed by any moniker that they chose to stick their child with.

hoopz

Look at my friend Hoopz ? Now what sort of name is that I ask you ?

nikki.hoopz

I'd call her by her right name Nikki but all I really wanna' do at this juncture is just get her on a court and ravage her body !

Rumor has it that Brett Favre and Ted Thompson'll go head to head in no holds barred steel caged bare knuckle brawl ? With the loser having to sniff the winner's a##.
That ought to be fun to watch should it ever come to fruition.

Dezz:

I agree on the voting of allstars. Just to take it up another notch, I would throw Selig under the buss for making the allstar count for home field advantage for the winners. Also, allstars should not be picked based on how the players have performed in the first half of any given seasons. If you want to have the fans participate, one vote, one player. Also, have the fans vote count only 33%, players count 33% and give the media 33%. Now Let's see who really is an allstar.

Dezz, JD Drew made a LOT of fans eat their words, myself included! So I'll join you in going under the bus!

Tophatal, hell yeah!! To say she's smokin' hot would be like saying the sky is dark at night.

LAFanDan, I like the idea of 1/3 fan vote, 1/3 players/coaches, 1/3 media. The maximum points the winner can earn is 30, if he sweeps all three votes. Points would go by a 10-9-8-7 scale, similar to Formula 1.

ESPN Sports Center stands for Extra Special Programming for NewYork & New England Sports Center. They cater to those markets even when theres no real sports worth news there. Top stories tonight George Stienbrenner has a hag nail, Randy Johnson(NY) has a pulled groin (in Feb)
will he be able to pitch opening day? Joe Yorres is getting #### chewed out (10min story) and Tampa won the Super yesterday(3secs) back to Randy Johnsons Groin (for 15mins) ...lets interview the Ice Pack Chris? and Tom Brady was spotted caring flowers...on Feb 14th....whats with the Hoodie Bill?

Kos, ESPN loves ALL things NY or Boston, and makes your life miserable when you DARE to call them on that. Having said that, they SHOULD go under the Bus.

ABOUT ME

jon_464
I am from Central California. I am passionate about sports, particularly the NFL and NASCAR. My favorite teams are: Panthers (NFL), Lakers (NBA), Flyers (NHL), and Dodgers (MLB). I am also a Kevin Harvick fan in NASCAR. I am a Fresno State honk. (I'll admit it!) And I am also a fan of MMA. Jackie Robinson to this day represents what is right about baseball. I also enjoy discussing the relevant (and sometimes irrelevant) issues of the day pertaining to sports. I will never understand why televised poker is so popular. Who wants to see a bunch of people sitting around a table, muttering to themselves? I do my best to keep politics out of my sports discussions. That is why I recently created a nonsports blog, cencalscribe.
