Congratulations to the Boston Celtics in winning the Eastern Conference championship. Give it up for the C's. Boston defeated Detroit 89-81 in Game 6, eliminating the Pistons.
Now we have our dream NBA Finals matchup: Lakers-Celtics. Awaken the ghosts of Lakers and Celtics past! You couldn't ask for a better matchup. The best team in the East against the best team in the West.
Boston showed heart in winning at Detroit, in a hostile environment, and doing what they needed to do. They showed me that they CAN win on the road. Winning two games in Detroit is no small feat.
As many of you know, I was openly jonesing for Lakers-Celtics. Now it's here!! I CAN'T WAIT FOR GAME ONE ON THURSDAY!!
While Boston has proven they CAN win on the road, beating the Lakers at the Staples Center is a WHOLE lot different than beating Detroit. The Lakers' last loss at home was an inexplicable one: to the Memphis Grizzlies, of all teams! The Lakers are undefeated at home in the playoffs.
Nique, all of the final four teams deserve congratulations for playing into late May, and in the Lakers' and Celtics' case, into June. I'll be sure to comment on your latest blog.
I agree this match up will be a blockbuster one considering the followers of both teams. Boston may have upgraded their line up and has the potential to be great but it will still be the Lakeshow in June, because of Kobe.
I am LAL fan and i know my Lakers will prevail at the end. Lakers in 6!
Their regular season meetings mean nothing. LA is an entirely different team. It'll be interesting to see who Doc matches up with Kobe. Neither Allen or Pierce are up to the task. If he plays Posey, he sacrifices offense, which the C's won't be able to do.
Pierce's defense has been stellar, and he will gaurd Kobe. Lets be realistic no one is going to shut him down, but let me ask the Kobe bumkissers this, who's gonna gaurd Paul Pierce? The home town kid loves LA. You can't handle "The Truth." Laker nation is in for a rude awakening

Pierce may well have stopped Lebron, but sorry to say, LBJ is not Kobe and he can’t make Kobe a jump shooter because KB24 will burn the hoops with his jumpers all night long. Just try to imagine what had occurred to Bowen at the SA-LA series, Bowen can confirm how hard it would be guarding a healthy Kobe.
The Lakers defense is not about guarding Pierce one on one but team defense and the Truth will be just like anybody else, prevented from stepping down the lane. Pierce is no Kobe who can take the offensive load of the Lakers alone. Yes, PP can generate some problems on the defensive end but not as solid as a fit Ginobili and a Parker’s intrusion in the paint. If the Lakers could duplicate the defensive intensity that they have in the LA-SA series then the Celtics would definitely be in terrible mess.
The Lakers Nation is in a festive mood, it is because we will be there in June with the championship trophy.
& the Truth that you can't handle... Lakers will prevail in 6!
Congratulations to the Celtics. Now hopefully they can beat the Lakers. (I know that is not likely to happen. But my hubby pulls for the Celtics so any good wife will support her husband, even in his madness. lol)
Celtics play the best TEAM D in the league Kobe will get his 30 a nite but Team Green will take away his ability to be a facilitator. I've noticed on 90% of the Laker posts I've read there is nary a mention of anyone else on that team. Kobe's great (mabyee the best ever), but even he cannot win in the finals by himself. The Celtics will win this series I garauntee it.

Kobe will probably guard Pierce and they'll try Sasha to see if he can do to Allen what he did to Manu. If either is successful series over, Lakers win.
Boston simply has to have mid to high teens scoring from everyone of the big three. They don't get it they lose the finals. They do and we'll see.
Boy, you Laker fans are arrogant, its like talking to Patriot fans or Yankee fans, except that the fans for those teams dont leave at the end of the 3rd quarter when their team is down a lot.
As a Ston's fan, I still think LA takes this series, but dont forget what happened a few years ago when you were saying they would win their 4th title in a row in 4 or 5 games. Ya'll got embarrased and where the ones losing in 5!
Funny how people who forget history are doomed to repeat it....we will see if it happens again ;)
PS: Thanks, David Stern and all the NBA head honcos, refs and everyone else involved, your product still sucks and Conspiracy Theorist's have new fodder to work with now...not that D-town got screwed, they just got beat!
Here's my take: the Celtics play very tough, swarming TEAM defense. If they are at a disadvantage they double-team as well as any team in the NBA and can turn it into an advantage.
The X-Factor will be the Lakers' bench. If they can step up and be clutch, the Lakers win. They will clutch up enough for the Lakers to win in 6.
I am from Central California. I am passionate about sports, particularly the NFL and NASCAR. My favorite teams are: Panthers (NFL), Lakers (NBA), Flyers (NHL), and Dodgers (MLB). I am also a Kevin Harvick fan in NASCAR. I am a Fresno State honk. (I'll admit it!) And I am also a fan of MMA. Jackie Robinson to this day represents what is right about baseball. I also enjoy discussing the relevant (and sometimes irrelevant) issues of the day pertaining to sports. I will never understand why televised poker is so popular. Who wants to see a bunch of people sitting around a table, muttering to themselves? I do my best to keep politics out of my sports discussions. That is why I recently created a nonsports blog, cencalscribe. blogspot.com. That is where I post my nonsports topics.
