It's that time of the week again! It's time to call out those sports figures that have so totally p****d you off you want to SCREAM! (Ashlee Simpson notwithstanding) Well, here is the forum in which you can call out those sports figures by throwing them under the Bus. I have a few nominations, so here goes!
NFL
Detroit Lions: for further pissing off some of their season ticket holders. Apparently someone in the Lions' front office responded this way to a complaint from one of their season ticket holders: "#### 'em." I'm always looking for a reason to throw the L.A. Clippers of the NFL under the Bus. Now I've found one. (NOTE: may have to write a written apology to the Clippers for lumping them in with the Detroit Lions. Clips, I apologize for lumping you in with the #### 'Em Lions aka the Detroit #### 'EM'S.)
Wal-Mart: the reason Wal-Mart is in this category is because they stiffed the Andre Johnson Foundation in two ways. First, they messed up the Texans' WR's order of 750 bikes that HE purchased to give to underprivileged kids. (There were around 675 bikes that ended up being donated as a result at the May 3 event.) And because of that order snafu, they stiffed the kids out of ice and water THEY HAD PROMISED. ICE AND WATER!! Sam Walton must be turning over in his grave. For stiffing the kids and messing up the order, Wal-Mart goes under the Bus.
NBA
Utah Jazz fans: this is for the moronic Jazz fans that chanted "Cancer!" every time Derek Fisher attempted a free throw and allegedly threw debris and trash at the Lakers' bench during Game 6 of their series. And they shouted "Refs SUCK!" when the Jazz were getting whipped. Don't blame the refs for your team's shortcomings. Congratulations, Utah. You surpassed Philly fan as the WORST fans in sports. Great job. Because of the morons that did this, you spoiled it for the rest of the Jazz fans. And because of the morons, Jazz fans get thrown under the Bus. I have ONE WORD for Jazz Fan: SCOREBOARD!
NASCAR
A.J. Allmendinger: for not even apologizing to Elliott Sadler after wrecking Sadler out of the All-Star Challenge, then he had the gall to win it! You'll get your comeuppance. Until then, you get thrown Under The Bus.
Those are my nominees for the week. Feel free to come in with yours.
I'll throw in everyone of LeBrons teamates and his coach Mike Brown under that bus. In fact James should be a guest driver. That was a horrible game 7 for his Cav's teammates they didn't give him a bit of help. Not a fan of either the Cav's or LeBron but he played his #### off to get them within striking distance and they just stood around and done nothing.
Nope Lebron goes under the bus as well for only 1 assist and 1 rebound in the entire first half. I'll drive. You can't do anything when Lebron is dribbling for 22 seconds every time down.
Gambit and Nique, good call on LeBron and the Cavs. Maybe they should change their name from the Cavs to the LeBrons.
Dwindy, thanks! I heard nothing about Allmendinger apologizing to Sadler, hence Allmendinger being thrown under the bus.
Midnite, if they haven't passed Philly fan, they're neck and neck with them. When you jeer, "Cancer!" to Derek Fisher everytime he attempts a free throw, that's below low. (Fisher's daughter Tatum has a very rare form of eye cancer) Very classless fans. Normally I don't gloat when the Lakers win a series, but I am taking special delight over them beating the Jazz because of their classless fans.
The Lions have been comically inept (seemingly) since the Eisenhower administration, and to tell your fans (who are paying $400+ dollars per seat) BLEEP you is just another example of why they are the Clips of the NFL. What do you expect from a team that hasn't won a title in 51 years or a plyoff game in 17!
im throwing all LeBron James haters under the bus what did this guy ever do to them and I bet if they ever had a chance to meet him in person they would have a different tone to their voice
jon'
I'd throw casino ownner Steve Wynn under a bus. He's whining about being owed $400k by Charles Barkley ? How much has Barkley and no doubt his entourage blown within Wynn's casino's over the years ?
Less we forget MJ himself has been known to blow in excess of $1.5m in a night playing poker at some of his so called hotspots on the Strip in Vegas.
Steve Wynn billionaire Vegas hotel and casino owner.
Even though I liked him when he was effective, and still like the concept of the 'less than straight and narrow' having a place to excel, I have to take this opportunity to get Al Davis under that bus. Just for being the ineffective, senile old tyrant that he has become. ;p

Bob Davidson. The Umpire who called Delgado's homerun a foul ball. My beef is that he come out and said he blew it. I had a baseball game myself yesterday and we had a guy full count 2 outs in the bottom of the last inning and our pitcher threw a nasty curve to strike him out. The Umpire called it a ball, we lost the game. He later admitted to blowing that call saying it was a strike. STAND BY YOUR DAMN CALL UMPIRES. Admitting you were wrong later does nothing but infuriate the players more.
I say throw Ray Allen under the Bus. Jesus Shuttlesworth couldn't hit the broad side of a barn against the Cavs.
Other nominees:
Tony Romo. If you get the opportunity to nail Jessica Simpson, you do it longer than 6 months. Just tune her out, nod your head, and get yours, buddy. Or at least get a sex tape out.
Honorable mention: Marvin Lewis, for cutting Odell Thurman because he attended his grandmother's funeral, who had raised him. Family is more important than football. At least he wasn't beating up women, making it rain at the strip club, or complaining about his contract. Chris Henry, I got. Thurman? Yeah he was suspended for two years, should have cut him then. Not when he's handling a death in the family and citing that as the excuse.
i dunno celica.. no claim here that she was a Jessica Simpson, but the closest I've come to a trophy squeeze like her.. six months was about when the big head had to take authority away from the little head.
Throw in Kellen Winslow II....he has collected millions from the Browns, even though his motorcycle accident forced him to miss an entire season. The knee problems from that accident still hamper him, but because he made the pro bowl last year (as an alternate), he feels he desrves a new contract (although he still has 3 years left). This guy has been a total #### since entering the league.
Jazz fans should not be thrown under the bus. Derek Fisher used his daughters cancer problems in order to get out of his contract. Larry H. Miller the nice guy he is let him out of his contract so he could be with his daughter. Less than a week later he is signed with the Lakers. He is disgusting. And the reffing was obviously fixed. They just wanted the MVP's team to win. Not to mention all the "Kobe Calls". The Jazz had to play like mad men just to get two wins despite the refs poor calling in nicer words.
For the #### that blasted Fisher for signing with the Lakers, he did because the best specialists for his daughter's condition are located in LA. What is wrong with someone wanting to be close to their child while they have cancer? How heartless do you have to be to slam a guy for that? And the Jazz management knew that, thats why they let him out of the contract. And like I have been saying all playoffs long to opponents fans of my Penguins, complaining about officiating is just a convienent excuse for losing. Nothing more.
Well this stinks ! I have absolutley no reason to throw jon464 under the bus. I hate when that happens!! All worthey choices, didn't here that Wal Mart scoop yet, good call, thanks for the info.
I guess i cant go wrong showing the Yankees some Goodyear, all that money and their just stinkin up the joint lately. But then again, i love when that happens!!!!
Jon,
Your blog was very intersting, but again here is someone taking another shot at us, THE PHILLY'S FANS.
I could go on and throw every city sports fans under the bus for many reasons. But just like some Philly fans it's only afew that are IDIOTS!!!!!
The true Philadelphia fans will cheer their own AS LONG AS THAT SPORTS FIGURE IS GIVING 100%. That doesn't mean you have to be a all-star, you can be below average just laid it on the line at all times.
Some of the all time favorites were just average ballplayer, but day in and day out they gave it everything they could.
Thats one reason Mike Schmidt was boo a lot. We knew Michael Jack would never take the catcher out and would never ever slide head first into the base.
Downs, I think the Lions LIVE underneath those tire tracks!
Steve, to boo Fisher for wearing Laker gear is one thing. To boo him because he wants to be with his daughter and get the BEST possible treatment for her is beyond the pale. He's being a FATHER to his daughter!
Kristen, that's why I gloated!
Puffinstuff, what a lot of people are missing is that Daniel Gibson was out for Game 7. I give LBJ credit for not using that as an excuse.
Tophatal, Mr. Wynn is duly thrown under the Bus.
Iwanaretire, Al Davis is duly thrown under the Bus.
SRMgenius, definitely Bob Davidson!! If the ball hits ANY part of the foul pole, it's a HOME RUN!
Celica2003, he STUNK up the joint in the series against the Cavs. If not for Paul Pierce, he'd have a LONG summer to think about his horrible series. As for Romo, it takes a LOT of balls to walk away from free tail as hot as Jessica Simpson. And why is it that in recent months the Bengals and/or Marvin Lewis have been living under the tire tracks? Odell Thurman has owned up to his mistakes and was ready to play. I hope he gets signed by a divisional rival and sticks it to the Bungles.
TheShiznite, one good season does not deserve a new contract. Especially after he went bonehead and missed a second straight season. Winslow is duly thrown.
Chambo59, sorry, I did. And I'll do it again until the Jazz fans stop throwing debris at the Lakers' bench and leave Derek Fisher's daughter out of this. Philly fan thinks that was messed up. The boorish behavior of the Jazz fans was indefensible. The Jazz were shooting around 35% at halftime. They should have booed their own team for their crummy play in the first half.
Nique, the Lions DO live under the bus! You can throw LeBron under twice!
Mav067, the Flyers simply lost to a better team. They'll be back.
Buckles, I tip my Flyers cap to the Pens. The Pens were simply the better team.
b@o, LOL! I'm sure you'll find PLENTY of reasons to throw me under the Bus as the season goes on!
BigRed747, that's all I ask--to bust your #### out there on the field, the rink, or the court. I applaud the Flyers' effort in the Eastern Conference finals; they lost to a better team.
The select Jazz fans get my vote...not all of them are bad, but it's the pattern of behavior that disturbs me. I also want to offer up Roger Goodell,, he's good for a weekly installment!
Lisa, I agree that not all Jazz fans are idiots. But the idiots that taunted Derek Fisher and threw garbage and debris at the Lakers' bench gave ALL Jazz fans a bad name. As for Goodell, he's greatly disappointed me. He's become as wishy-washy as Tagliabue. C'mon Commish, GROW A PAIR! I may have a SEPARATE bus to throw the Commish under on a weekly basis!
Im adding Kyle busch to this list along with lebron james, jessica simpson and her dad, people who say deja vu all over again...thats like saying hey its all over agian, all over again..retards, and lastly im throwing the Eagles under the bus, i HATE the eagles....redskins and giants!!! lol.
I am a season ticket holder for the Utah Jazz . .and I sit in the 6 row directly behind the Visitors bench and have not missed a game in 4 years . .NEVER has there been a chant of CANCER to Derek Fisher! If that did happen then one or two fans started it and they were drunk and everyone was embarassed by them. This is just like last year when Stephen Jackson said that people were chanting the #### to him . . .People think they no what Utah is like and they think that everyone is backward . .so they make these ridiculous comments and then morons who believe everything write it in their blogs.
When Derek Fisher came back the whole Boo-ing thing was massively overblown . . . he went to the lakers . .that is the reason that people boo-ed. I didn't . .I cheered . .and so did about half of the entire arena . .No one was mad that he used cancer as an excuse to leave . .that was the furthest thing from their minds . .the only thing that was important was the name on his chest.
Also . .Fisher made it clear when he came to Utah that he wasn't thrilled about it.. In his introductory press conference he said that he was initially not looking forward to coming here . .so when the opportunity presented itself to leave .. he left. THE ONLY reason that it is a story is that he went to the lakers . .He could have chosen LA, Memphis, New York, or Miami . .if he chose any other team he would have been greeted with a 2 minute standing ovation.
Spartan, I can hardly wait for the season to begin!
DrKrull, I'll let you throw Jones in front.
benkj27, as I stated earlier, not all Jazz fans are idiots. But the malcontents that acted up gave the GOOD Jazz fans a BLACK EYE. Los Angeles happened to have the BEST facilities for his daughter.
I think Chambo59 had a little bit of a crush on Fisher...he's constantly harping on him for 'using his daughters cancer' as an excuse...(like it's pink eye or something...Jesus...it's a potentially fatal illness) and just last week he claimed to know the flight records and such of Fisher, knowing he fly's to New York for all of his daughters treatments.
It's like a lover scorned.
Your right chambo59. Fisher looked at his daughter and thought 'now's my chance to get the hell out of this city with this freaky guy who records my flights...phone calls and won't leave me alone'.
It was your fault all along. Good job guy.
Oh....holding up a child when Lamar was shooting freethrows was pretty awsome too. I'd hate on Jazz fans, but what's the point? Bunch of simpleton white-folk. Maybe it's the whole religion thing there that leads to childish outbursts....I dunno, I am no psychologist.
DanFan, I hadn't heard about that. I had heard that when Kobe was at the line they were hurling insults about Eagle, CO at him and allegedly trash and debris was thrown at the Lakers' bench.
Mark Cronquist, head engine builder for JGR. (Just for a few minutes though, got to get back to work on pushing the envelope, lol). For pushing the envelope too far on engines for the All Star Race. All three cars had rocker arms go bad during the weekend.
I am a big Jazz fan, and like the other person here I too have season tickets. I never heard that come out of any mouth around me. Im sure it was an Isolated place around the bench.
As for Fishers situation, it does suck for any parent to have to make that choice for his family. But the thing that you dont understand is that he still had to fly his daughter to NY to get her treatment. LA doesnt have the treatment centers nearly as good as the places in NY for this type of cancer. So could he have stuck around for his contract, Sure he could have. SLC has one of the best hospitals for kids in the nation.
Im not harping on what events happend. It was the choice of Larry Miller and Derrek together to make that happen. it is a crappy situation all around. But please dont lable All the Jazz fans for the few stupid people that dont use thier brains and common sence.
Tsfan, seems to me Cronquist used the All-Star race as a glorified test session. I think all three JGR drivers went in to the race knowing that they were trying a different engine package.
Monsdawg, I have said before, not all Jazz fans are bad fans. I appreciate their enthusiasm and passion for their team. That being said, the idiots that got personal with Fisher and other Lakers DESERVE to be called out. And it's those idiots that give the GOOD Jazz fans (which are the vast majority) a bad name. I'm all for the fans booing Fisher (or any opposing player) when he attempts a free throw; that's their right. But there is a right way and a wrong way. And those idiots chose the wrong way.
I would throw Major League Baseball Umpires under the bus. There were about 5 missed home run calls this week. THIS WEEK ALONE!!!!! Major League Baseball umpires do have one of the hardest officiating jobs because of the amount of calls in a game, but they need to be able to get it right. Baseball needs to institute replay for home run calls.
Oaklandathleticsfan, good choice. At the very least, add umpires in LF and RF. The umps blowing all these HR calls IS giving impetus for replays involving HR calls. Remember Matt Holliday's HR that was ruled a double in last year's postseason? The ball clearly hit the railing behind the fence and bounced back into play.
Whats worse is that statement is what Lions season ticket holders should be saying to the front office!!! Followed up by a putting away of the checkbook and a seat on the couch!
Wow, I forgot about the Holliday play. Thanks for reminding me. In the postseason MLB does use extra umpires down the foul lines and that call was still missed. Something needs to be changed because home-runs are huge plays in a game that usually have a big impact on the result. Especially in the postseason.
Folks, I cannot BELIEVE that no one has mentioned Matt Millen. This Bozo has repeatedly decided to draft like a nincom####, and wants to be the wisened guy who finds some wonder boy in an unexpected draft pick. He's responsible for the fact that Adrian Peterson will run the Lion defense ragged for the next ten years or so, TWICE A YEAR, no less. Matt had a chance to draft A.D. and muffed it, as usual. The Lion's owners have to be the most inept and uncaring owners in professional sports! Start by throwing Millen under the BUS and follow him with the owners. Then, maybe the Lion fans will have something to cheer about other than Barry Sanders. Which reminds me... Add Wayne Fontes to the list for drastically WASTING such an incredible talent with that asinine Run and Shoot offense, which always dulled the effect of Barry's abilities, all the years he played. Only Bobby Ross realized that the best thing to do with Barry was to give him the ball, point him at the End Zone and say, "GO!"
I am from Central California. I am passionate about sports, particularly the NFL and NASCAR. My favorite teams are: Panthers (NFL), Lakers (NBA), Flyers (NHL), and Dodgers (MLB). I am also a Kevin Harvick fan in NASCAR. I am a Fresno State honk. (I'll admit it!) And I am also a fan of MMA. Jackie Robinson to this day represents what is right about baseball. I also enjoy discussing the relevant (and sometimes irrelevant) issues of the day pertaining to sports. I will never understand why televised poker is so popular. Who wants to see a bunch of people sitting around a table, muttering to themselves? I do my best to keep politics out of my sports discussions. That is why I recently created a nonsports blog, cencalscribe. blogspot.com. That is where I post my nonsports topics.
